How's Nestor doing?

Considering wk lost to them in a scrimmage isn't saying much. And BC being the program that it is? and what kind of program is that, one with good coaches and not too much talent? I wonder why BC is top 10. Could it maybe have to do with the person heading up the rankings is none other than their coach

hmmmmm.... i think this will be a great game!! the top three teams in this region being BC, Airport and South Aiken are greatly affected by the outcome of this game. Should be a great game, South Aiken is on a roll and BC has something to prove.... ahhh i love crucial games to decide the region standings for playoffs!!!!
Posted By: Boeing 787 Re: showdown in the CAGE!!!! - 04/29/10 07:49 PM
Both SA and BC are good teams this year. BC having players in key positions that find ways to make plays, and SA having scrappy players that find ways to put the ball in the net. SA is also getting players back from injuries. BC has fallen off a bit to me after a great pre-season showing. Should be a great battle tonight. I wouldn't bet on this one ending in regulation either!!
Posted By: Ron Burgundy Re: showdown in the CAGE!!!! - 04/29/10 07:58 PM
Should be a great match!! My prediction is BC 2 SA 1. Overtime victory for BC with #10 a quality freshman (I think) scoring in OT.
Posted By: Question Master Re: showdown in the CAGE!!!! - 04/29/10 08:52 PM
Why the hatred??

While BC, SA, Airport and Dreher aren't Irmo, Northwestern and Wando...they seem to be quality teams who always show up for playoffs.

Isn't this the region who won all their first rounds games last year, 3 played in the quarters and 2 in lowerstate???

Agreed...no one cares!

This region might just have a team make it to the Ship.
Posted By: bestofthebest Re: showdown in the CAGE!!!! - 04/30/10 02:14 AM
2 1 SA over BC
Both teams great.
I cant help but be amazed with what coach waters has done with that team. Wins state last year. loses two all state players a whole back line, goalie, and two assistant coaches. And after a 1 and 4 start they havent lost since. hes got my vote for coach of the year. especially if they make a deep run in the playoffs which im sure they will do
Posted By: Gym Rat Re: showdown in the CAGE!!!! - 04/30/10 03:46 AM
Both teams are strong and could possibly meet one more time in the playoffs, SA's keeper might need to work out every once in awhile though, he was on the ground more than a fat guy doing crunches at Gold's!!

Really, like any of these matter? None of them are good enough this year to get past the upper state teams! Take your pick Chapin, J.L. Mann, Eastside, Riverside. These 4 teams have dominated the rankings this year.

I wouldn't throw Eastside in the mix this year. Too young and skidding right now. We saw first hand what South Aiken did to us last year in the Finals so they may be the hot team right now.

yawn...more of this upperstate/lowerstate banter. BC and S. Aiken are both quality and if either reach state they willhave a great chance. You can talk rankings until you are blue in the face but rankings don't measure heart, they don't measure the drive the lowerstate has to beat the upstate teams.

People said the same thing last year when S. Aiken played Eastside. Well???? You never know what teams show up, who can or can't take pressure. Let it play out, if anything Revion V is prepared because of their schedules.

and yes trisoc, it does matter. If it doesn't matter to you, then don't post on the thread.

To prove the point' here is a list of records against ranked teams only.
Lower State first
NMB 4-0-0
Airport 4-5-1
BC 5-6-2
SA 2-3-1

Upper State
Chapin 7-5-0
J.L. Mann 10-4-0
Riverside 8-3-0
Eastside 5-5-0

These are your top 8 team in the state for 3A soccer. It kinda looks like the upperstate has better success against ranked teams than the lower state other than NMB but at no fault to them the strength of their schedule hurts them.

Goal differential places BC as regional champs.
Posted By: Ron Burgundy Re: showdown in the CAGE!!!! - 05/04/10 04:20 AM
Domination tonight via the boys of BC, A 4-1 score as a final and the lone goal for Airport being that of a WEAK penalty!! All I can say is #10 for BC a freshman was all over Airport's backs and made them pay early with a goal and an assist! Great game if you were a BC fan! Not so much if you were supporting Airport...

Anybody can give me some info on how Griff Sims got a straight red? Along with airports assistant coach?
Posted By: Ray Finkel Re: showdown in the CAGE!!!! - 05/04/10 12:23 PM
It goes like this, Griff comes on, 5 minutes later (if that) he grabs a BC player as he goes past him and holds on for dear life. Ref walks up to Griff and gives him a Red card. Where the foul was on the field and where everyone else was as well, makes me think that Griff had to have said something to the Ref to receive a Red.
Posted By: Ray Finkel Re: showdown in the CAGE!!!! - 05/04/10 12:27 PM
As for the assistant Coach, again, he must have said something. What I don't understand is how Coach Masone didn't get anything for running all the way across the field to prevent his player from getting into a fight
Posted By: shut^&play Re: showdown in the CAGE!!!! - 05/04/10 12:35 PM
To be fair, the officiating was very, very poor for a game of that magnitude. It was possible BC's second goal was started in an offside position as Herbert sprung loose to in-line serve it for the finish. Then again, BC was called offsides on a throw-in that they scored on earlier in the match sooooo

Griff's looked like he might have been intentionally trying to foul from behind, although he did not slide. However, he did have a brief "discussion" with the official before the red was issued so there might be something there. AHS assistant coach initially got a yellow then said something else to the center and got tossed.

Wait a minute! I've been sneaked dissed and besmirched!! How does someone wanna be like me this bad!?! Can some explain to me the mega coaching staff at Airport? They have position coaches I think. One head, offensive coordinator, defensive coordinator, midfield specialist, goalkeeper analysis, recruiting coordinator, game day corner kick coordinator, associate head assisant left back coach, and game day 3/4 warmup pants advisor/coordinator. Geez! Can someone show light?
Posted By: soccer2103 Re: showdown in the CAGE!!!! - 05/04/10 01:28 PM
So I'll give you my take on this match. I am not trying to create discussion, banter, or take anything away from BC. First off, congrats on your share of the region title and outright championship pending tonight's SA/Dreher match.

Lastnight, BC just had a lot of things go their way. The weather was more suited to their style play and was obviously going to be tough for us to spread the ball around playing in steady rain on a slick pitch. The season ending injury to our starting centerback in about the 8th minute was obviously game changing for us. I can tell you with 100% certainty Griff did not say anything to the ref, it was for the attempted tackle from behind. Agree with me or not but I did not believe that to be a red card offense for many reasons. 1.) BC had a tackle from behind 2 minutes previous and received a yellow. 2.) The time in which the card was given and 3.) the magnitude of this match. But obviously playing 65 minutes or so a man down puts your team in a bind. I thought we did the best we could considering the circumstances.

BC's 2nd goal was offsides but our defenders can't just sit back with their hand up waiting for a call. BC's 3rd goal was a goalkeeper error that only happens 1 out of 100 times. BC's 4th was a rocket free kick, it was a great goal.

As for the coach getting a red card. It was right in front of me and we had not received any sideline warnings or yellow cards previously. Nothing out of the ordinary was said, the card was very undeserved.

Now, Finkel-If I feel that a fight is about to break out then I have no problem getting a card for stepping on the field to protect my players as well as the opposing teams players. I would much rather get a card and pay the fine then the boys get cards and be forced to miss playoff matches. I am not going to sit and watch a brawl start, so if that is a cardable offense, so be it.

Bottom line-it was BC's night. Coach Heise did an excellent job preparing his team and I won't take anything away from BC but the officiating was not very good for a game of this magnitude. good luck BC and Coach Heise in the playoffs, we hope to meet again for sure. Just my take, take it for what it's worth.

That's what I'm talking about - "total domination?" - since when did it become a big deal for BC to beat a football school in soccer? Chapin enjoyed "total domination" back a couple of weeks ago on both these squads. Sorry bearkitties I don't see you getting past SA or NMB - but even if you do you have nothing for the real Eagles soccer.

Airport- I give you credit - overall you are better than you used to be but doesn't spring football practice start next week?

I agree with soccer2103 about stepping on the field to stop a fight. It's much better to be proactive than reactive.

yes Burgunday we like to play the ball to feet and spread the pitch. Obviously a man down and weather conditions prevented us from doing that thus we attempted to play our target players 11 and 3 more direct than we would have liked.

what was the official's explanation of the red to griff? Agreed that the officiating was atrocious.
Posted By: Ron Burgundy Re: showdown in the CAGE!!!! *DELETED* - 05/04/10 01:48 PM
How about the loss against SA in OT? When Airport is up they might attempt to play to feet. But when the pressure is on, Airport is never afraid to give it a boot!
Posted By: Ray Finkel Re: showdown in the CAGE!!!! *DELETED* - 05/04/10 01:48 PM
My take on the BC yellow card prior to the Simms getting sent off, was that both players ran into each other as the play transitioned. A little surprised that #6 didn't try to get two points for cross facing as he did later on in the game.

I do understand why you ran out, just didn't understand how the ref allowed it.
Posted By: soccer2103 Re: showdown in the CAGE!!!! *DELETED* - 05/04/10 01:48 PM
He said that he went in from behind and didn't play the ball. Like I said previous, yellow card? Sure. Red card? Not in my mind. But it is what it is sometimes.

If that was the case, you're right, it shouldn't have been a Red. My guess was that he was smiling at you the whole time? Awful ref, can't stand him.

Perhaps he realized that he was wrong and that's why he didn't eject your goalie when he took a player down on a break away.
Posted By: soccer2103 Re: showdown in the CAGE!!!! *DELETED* - 05/04/10 01:58 PM
haha we can go back and forth on calls all day. We can agree it was not a great called game and we can agree that BC came to play. We will just leave it at that.
I couldn't resist this! This is hiliarious!! I'm backing my boy Tugger on anything he says cause I'm tryna get up on that boat this weekend with the BAWGs. Ill say one thing there is no arguement of who is the best region in 3A. Region 5 is impressive. Great region!
Griff Sims only played 5 minutes before the red card???

Why didn't McKinney take a pk against Dreher?

Did Masone sprint on the field or was it a casual jog??

So many questions, I guess I should have found 5 dollars and gone to the cage last night.

Also, field conditions...sounds like you need to take that one up with God. I believe he's the only one that can stop the rain!!!

shot in the dark but does anyone know who owns the tiebreaker with Wilson or Camden?
Posted By: soccerforlife Re: showdown in the CAGE!!!! *DELETED* - 05/04/10 02:22 PM
Agreed- the ref should have set the tone early and been consistant- officiating seemed somewhat arbitary and reactive instead of in control. Given the level of play expected and the pitch conditions, the officiating should have left no room for chippy play. Still- it was an exciting match and the fans got their money;s worth..

It was probably more than 5 minutes, but I don't think he started.

Not sure why McKinney didn't take a pk at Dreher, he hit a nice one last night and also hit one two years ago when the game was at Airport. I've seen him in warmups and he can crush a ball.

He had to have sprinted because once it started he was there pretty quick. On this matter I have a question and I'm not trying to instigate anything, but since he ran on, couldn't that have been considered clearing the benches?

I know its not the same thing, but with his reason for taking the field and this possibility makes me rethink whether or not his decision was a smart one. Especially with his starting CB out (hope its not an ACL tear) and a senior player out for the first two rounds (or more). This team is going to need their coach.

Either way it wasn't called or addressed by the referee so it wouldn't matter anyways

and yes trisoc, it does matter. If it doesn't matter to you, then don't post on the thread.

2103 I agree that the Lower State Champion will have a chance in the title game. We (EHS) learned that first hand last year! However, I do think the balance of power lies in the upstate with Mann, Riverside, and I guess Chapin. Those teams have proven it this year pretty convincingly vs. the lower state teams:

Riverside 3-0 Brooklyn Cayce
Chapin 3-0 Airport
Chapin 4-0 Brooklyn Cayce

Even a team like Blue Ridge tied Airport 1-1. Anything can happen and sometimes it does so good luck to all.
Why can't we get along??

FWIW I am quite the bandwagon fan; hence why I don' pull for BC. I am more of a Wando fan myself!!!

Easy Coach... Don't worry about my hairline its just more of my beautiful skin for you to appreciate while I dominate the world in soccer.

And tugjobber I'm sure you enjoy many backsides wink wink

Landon Predicts that the Lowerstate belongs to none other than Chapin. But All is well because they will not last, the Upperstate will dominate their dreams like Freddy Krueger

Well, Chapin is Upper State. They'll be Lower State next year.
Landon's new prediction Upperstate will not be Chapin... Sorry! Have fun at Riverside

B.C. loses round 1, Dreher (call them the sleeper or Cinderella, but babys going to the ball) on to Lowerstate vs North Myrtle...

Silly Bearcats with their playoff hopes, But everyone can have dreams here in America... Where I am the best soccer player ever and I score PKs for FREEDOM!

Landon Donovan(Your fearless American Champion/Savior) says, Coach dont be foolish, B.C. just does not have what it takes to get through... Conditions will not always be favorable for you cocky bearcats... Soon you will see! South Aiken will be too much(again) for BC if that match up were to ever happen(doubtful as seeing they dont match up in the first round). And actual thoughts of the Finals haha that was a nice laugh thank you.

Was a great afternoon to be Landon Donovan, I shot 1000 PKs and then took a bubble bath, all for AMERICA! "I love winning and any team I'm on, I expect to win."- Thats my favorite thing Ive ever said! And coach my laces are always pointed towards victory so don't even worry about my laces.

Nice Too Too coach, oh I mean Ray!

The New York Yankees were voted number one and the Duke Blue Devils were voted number 2 in 2010 as the most hated teams in America. Both which won championships in their respected sports in the last year.

Landon Donovan was voted number 3 in America's all time soccer player list. He sent a pk soaring over the crossbar in a shootout in the MLS championship which they ended up losing in 2009.

Let fans pull for their teams and wish, hope and pray they they make it to the end.

Who cares??

Landon Cares,

I only missed that PK to add to the drama of my overall career. When I am the 2010 World cup leading scorer you will be singing a different tune bearcat!

Ive scored 15 pks while writing this post to be exact so dont worry about any past misses

BC's confidence will find them sitting at home after Socastee if they are not careful!

Landon you may be my new favorite poster, hilarious.
Landon, you appear to be a jack...... You definitely discredited the name. AND calling people out maybe be cool to you when you dog your little high school friends. Lay off the coaches! Most of you got somewhere because of them.

I as your American soccer leader feel offended!

Donovan says some people deserve what they get(Coaches who know who they are)!

Want good coaching? Send your lads to the Landon Donovan Academy of Soccer and life... and maybe one day they too can be American champions!
I knew it,,,,,, all talk.

Alright, jumping out of the shadows... I'm the guy who got kicked by Griff, and I can't tell you how happy I am that he got a red. Griff was behind me, and I passed the all to another player. About two seconds after that (plenty of time to stop an incoming tackle, right?) he just kicks me with all his power on my shin from behind. Luckily, the ref saw it, and he was ejected for it. Now agree with me or not, but doing stuff like that should with no exceptions get you sent off.
Just wanted to lay this thing to rest, even if you guys probably won't even see it.

I only have one question...How do you kick someone in the shin from behind?

south aiken is ranked in the top 10 from what they did in 3A by the end of the year they shouldnt be ranked, and bc is only ranked so high because they have a bias coach who controlls the rankings and also, [censored] BC
