Thank you for finally moving B.E. higher in your standings, even though i know the top 25 is not yours alone. They deserve the recognition after defeating some of S.C.'s top teams this weekend.
Posted By: WhatDoesItMatter Re: CP Weekly Top 25 (Feb 20) - 02/20/06 03:47 PM
i agree that B.E. should be up in the standings, they commonly get overlooked since they are a smaller school, but really that just makes how good there team is look even better. I give some props to ya benp, this is not an easy thing to do to rank teams discluding what size school they are(4A,3A,2A,1A). So I am only gonna say one thing i disagree with, I think Fort Mill should be higher up...
Posted By: benp Re: CP Weekly Top 25 (Feb 20) - 02/20/06 03:58 PM
Let's put into perspective what you just said. Fort Mill hasn't played a single game that counts against/for them. They are ranked 10th? in 4a, and 12th in the CP poll...and you want them higher? They are above many of those top 10 4a schools. Win some games before you complain about a #12 ranking
Posted By: JP11 Re: CP Weekly Top 25 (Feb 20) - 02/20/06 04:23 PM
I do not understand how South Aiken can be ranked higher than Lexington. When lexington beat them. Thats my only request of change.
Posted By: Jack Rozier Re: CP Weekly Top 25 (Feb 20) - 02/20/06 04:34 PM
I'd say going from NR to #13 is a pretty solid jump..
Posted By: JP11 Re: CP Weekly Top 25 (Feb 20) - 02/20/06 04:41 PM
I know i just think SA should have dropped a little more. They were beat head to head by a team ranked lower than them that has a better record.
Posted By: goals66 Re: CP Weekly Top 25 (Feb 20) - 02/20/06 04:45 PM
head to head? they lost in pks.
Posted By: Jack Rozier Re: CP Weekly Top 25 (Feb 20) - 02/20/06 04:48 PM
..bottomline. It's hard to drop SA from the top 10 b/c of a PK loss.. and it's hard to pump Lex into the top 10 from NR ..despite their performance this weekend. It's just one of those quirks you know? Props to Lex none-the-less.
Posted By: Platini 10 Re: CP Weekly Top 25 (Feb 20) - 02/20/06 04:48 PM
I don't understand why Chapin isn't higher than that after they just got to the semi-finals on the Lake Murray Challenge and gave Eastside a very good game in which the score does not reflect the game...just wondering
Posted By: benp Re: CP Weekly Top 25 (Feb 20) - 02/20/06 04:53 PM
Well, I guess everyone wasn't there for that game. Chapin beat a weak NA team 2-0 (not bad but not good). Got killed by a good 3a team. If the scoreline doesn't reflect the game, then hopefully chapin will prove themselves as the season progresses.

Of course we all remember that this is Benp's unofficial list and although I think he is doing a good job..... IT IS UNOFFICIAL!!!

Personally I like it better than the Official based on school attendance, because it does allow for cross comparison.

Good work Benp ....keep it up.

I think PG did i good job in the tournament this weekend they held their ground against BE and was porbably going to win until a PG defender had a penalty in the box causing a PK. I think they need to be given a little more credit, sure they didnt do so hot against the other teams but that could be because they were exhausted and the coach does not sub, so they had the same 11 guys play the whole tournament. They also were missing 2 of their key starters but i think they held there own in the tournament. And congrats to BE winning the tournament.
Posted By: CornerFlag Re: CP Weekly Top 25 (Feb 20) - 02/21/06 05:40 AM
I actually think that this list is very accurate except for the following MINOR changes...

6 should be higher
2 should be where 5 is
5 can move to where 3 is
3 goes to 17
17 moves to 4
20 moves to 17
1 moves to 20
7 moves to 1
14 moves to 7
13 moves to 14
8 moves to 13

I'm sure I could think of some more changes but I'm not sure I want to push it.

Hey Benp you might want to get your team records straight before you go ranking everyone. Wando has not lost a game yet. They tied Socastee on Saturday but they haven't lost. Don't know where you are getting 2-1 from. Their real record is 3-0-1.
Posted By: CornerFlag Re: CP Weekly Top 25 (Feb 20) - 02/20/06 06:16 PM
Let's keep these rankings in perspective shall we?

They are very subjective, will change ALOT over the next few weeks let alone the entire season, and when it comes down to it they don't mean anything. There is really no reason to get uptight or nitpick Benp because something doesn't look right to you.
Posted By: Jack Rozier Re: CP Weekly Top 25 (Feb 20) - 02/20/06 06:31 PM
Also..these are averaged from rankings submitted TO Benp.. He doesn't just make these up.
Posted By: benp Re: CP Weekly Top 25 (Feb 20) - 02/20/06 06:33 PM
Sorry about the Wando record. I knew they were 2-0-1, just slipped up. Their win on Sunday will not be included this week due to the fact that the score was not reported untill after Sunday and the rankings came out early Monday morning.
Posted By: tigerman Re: CP Weekly Top 25 (Feb 20) - 02/20/06 08:57 PM
Cornerflag, have you lost your mind on your changes for this ranking? Hilton Head #1 after 2 losses? Greenville to #17 after only 1 loss and that was in pks? DF dropping out of the top 5 without a loss to an instate team? Bishop England to #20 even though they haven't lost? You need to rethink your changes and resubmit them because that is crazy.
Posted By: CornerFlag Re: CP Weekly Top 25 (Feb 20) - 02/20/06 09:04 PM
Tiger,

It was a joke man....
Posted By: benp Re: CP Weekly Top 25 (Feb 20) - 02/20/06 10:09 PM
I read the first 3 changes and they made sense. Then when i read the next 2 or 3 i just stopped reading them.

Dude these are some wack rankings. How do u drop irmo to #10 when there only losses were to OK state champs and Northwestern who if we played again we would kill. I also dont know how u move an unranked team all the way to thirteenth. Thats ridiculous. So what they somehow beat SA( who is on a downyear and without Geathers)
Posted By: scsoccer18 Re: CP Weekly Top 25 (Feb 20) - 02/21/06 01:51 AM
you are ridiculous irmostriker.
Posted By: Irmostriker06 Re: CP Weekly Top 25 (Feb 20) - 02/21/06 01:55 AM
Ok mr. Right Bench. When u are a stud u can say that. Look at the banners in our Gym and then call me ridiculous.
Posted By: MPSCplayer73 Re: CP Weekly Top 25 (Feb 20) - 02/21/06 02:05 AM
id have to agree with irmostriker06 but really who cares bout this ranking. Half the teams havent played a game yet so its not that big of a deal
Posted By: JP11 Re: CP Weekly Top 25 (Feb 20) - 02/21/06 02:06 AM
Irmostriker dude u need to stop talking crap about a team who is undefeated when u play for a team with a loosing record.
Posted By: MPSCplayer73 Re: CP Weekly Top 25 (Feb 20) - 02/21/06 02:12 AM
a losing record after 4 games big deal
Posted By: MPSCplayer73 Re: CP Weekly Top 25 (Feb 20) - 02/21/06 02:14 AM
a losing record after 4 games big deal. So wat team played in the state championship the last three years...? Irmo i think maybe huh was it Irmo im pretty sure it was Irmo

Once again rankings mean nothing.
Posted By: futbol(soccer) Re: CP Weekly Top 25 (Feb 20) - 02/21/06 11:46 AM
from my other thread Irmostriker06...

IrmoS06...

I hate to say it son but you are beginning to sound like Fenomeno.

The mark of a champion is to be able to accept defeats and learn to overcome the obstacles and NOT talk about them AND to respect your opponent(s)wether you spank them or not.

Everyone has a bad day now and then.... maybe you did, maybe you didn't, the point is take your lumps, reboot and learn from the mistakes THEN show everyone on the field.

Anyone can talk.... not everyone can play.

Good luck in your season.

and by the way I believe I said sometime before that Irmo was going to be in the mix of things at the end as usual
Posted By: benp Re: CP Weekly Top 25 (Feb 20) - 02/21/06 08:14 PM
You know...I didn't like the fact that Duke dropped to #2 after losing to Georgetown (a very good unranked team) by 2, when Connecticut had already lost to marquette (a pretty good unranked team) by like 20. However, time will tell where teams deserve to be. Irmo may in fact end up #1 like usual, but they will have to earn it back. I think its pretty wierd that Irmo is ranked above undefeated lexington who beat pretty good South Aiken and Ridge View. I was surprised at that one myself. Looks like people believe Irmo is better than they played this weekend.
Posted By: Hurst66 Re: CP Weekly Top 25 (Feb 20) - 02/21/06 08:44 PM
ben, let's play "Six Degrees of Separation":

Savannah State, currently 2-25 and possibly the worst team in D1 basketball defeated....

Longwood who defeated Liberty who upset Winthrop who smacked Marquette who upended UConn.
Posted By: schrecky Re: CP Weekly Top 25 (Feb 20) - 02/22/06 03:00 AM
Good grief. These rankings are an average of the members of this board thus very subjective. If you don't like where your school is submit your own top 25. Honestly though this is only (mostly) unobjective high school team-members opinions.

I do appreciate them though especially as they inlcude the SCISA teams.
Posted By: Thierry Re: CP Weekly Top 25 (Feb 20) - 02/22/06 12:27 PM
These are not even the true rankings....only a mere average of those compiled from the members who took the time to send their own top 25
Posted By: bruin Re: CP Weekly Top 25 (Feb 20) - 02/22/06 03:13 PM
How often are the coach's rankings for 4A, 3A, etc. that are posted on SCSoccer.com updated?
Posted By: CornerFlag Re: CP Weekly Top 25 (Feb 20) - 02/22/06 04:24 PM
I believe once a week on Sundays once the season officially begins.
Posted By: Kyle Heise Re: CP Weekly Top 25 (Feb 20) - 02/22/06 04:41 PM
bruin, CornerFlag is correct. The SCHSSCA Polls will be compiled and published on the Scoreboard each Sunday beginning February 26 and will continue through May 14.
