I've scored successfully On JV like 15 times (between 7-9th) when I played defense but only twice since I moved up to Varsity in the 10th grade and that was 3 years ago. 10th 11th and 12th
I scored 3 times playing D on varsity over 3 years.

and right now the leading defensive scorer is our stopper with one.
Its definately not rare for defenders to score. My sophomore year, our coach had set up our team to where our outside defenders could make smart runs to help support the attack. In total, they out-scored our players that played up top and in the midfield. It was a pretty deadly attack, b/c it was a quick and wasn't really expected.
while playing defense, i've only had 3 goals in the past 3 years.
2 of these were actually clears from the sweeper position that got a bit of wind on them and floated in.
