BC beat PG today 1-0. BC headed home a corner midway thru the second half. PG keeper Owens reacted well to the header but the ball deflected off of someone out of his reach just inside the left post. Neither team played much possesion ball. #10 for BC played well but had hardly any support up front, he did bounce one ball off the post. PG had a couple chances down the right side but the wings (#4, #9) couldn't get a good ball into the box.

Good report by Paruthead. I had the Bearcats tallying 17 shots on the day, while the Cyclones attempted 10. Good goalkeeping by both keepers -- Mark Owens (8 saves) and Cory Smith (3 saves), of P-G and B-C.

Senior midfielder Biff Blocker scored the only goal at the 65-minute mark of the match on a corner kick from fellow classmate Braye Walters.

Porter-Gaud has a beautiful facility and the weather was absolutely perfect. The Cyclones have a very formidable squad this year, but like B-C simply lack any depth. P-G will be a force to reckon with in the SCISA ranks!

***Note: The win marked B-C Coach Kevin Heise's 200th career high school victory. Now in his 12th year at his alma mater, Heise has recorded a 200-60-4 (.765) mark with the Bearcats and has led Brookland-Cayce to a Class 3A Finals appearance in 2001 and a Class 4A Semifinals appearance in 1995. The Bearcats have notched region championships in seven of the past eight seasons and have advanced at least to the Quarterfinals since 1998.

Thank you for your kind words. Best of luck to Porter-Gaud as well. We (B-C) always like playing the Cyclones and love playing at your great facility! Keep up the good work.
