Who has a chance at making a run in the 4A play-offs? Spring Valley? Irmo? Northwestern? or an underdog.
I think from the upperstate it will be irmo in the finals with a 2-1 win over northwestern in the semis. From lowerstate obviously Spring Valley is the favorite but i think an underdog will come out of there and surprise spring valley. Maybe wando, dutch fork, summerville, or someone along those lines will creep up on spring valley and beat them in lowerstate.
Irmo or Northwestern out of the upstate and Spring Valley or Wando from lowerstate. Dutch Fork can maybe suprise some people as long as they don't have to play a powerhouse like RNE...
I think it'll definitely come down to Irmo vs. NW in the upperstate. Don't count out Lexington, but they will probably have a much harder road. Does anyone know who would host that potential game if it plays out like that?
As for the lowerstate SV is the obvious favorite, but I think they are vulnerable especially if they are going to be down three starters. Its hard to judge where the Wando team is now due to the lack of big games down the stretch, but they always seem to have some say in who wins the lowerstate. Dutch Fork has played well and had good results the past three of four games and could be peaking at just the right time.
My darkhorse prediction is Mauldin in the upperstate.

in general this years teams are horrible compared to last years team but thats just me...ive seen my old team play a few times against supposedly the best teams in the state and it was painful to watch
If I was a gambler, I would say that Spring Valley would win State. They have depth and no real weaknesses, however, I would have to agree with links5 and say that an underdog could definitely pull it off.

Valley is an amazing team beacuse they go out there and trust eachother. They will go to the state championship and win it. no doubt in my mind.

upper state will be a crap shoot. irmo will beat greenies and host upper state against trojans. dorman's field is a difficult place to play but bad fields havent hampered trojans yet. weather may play a huge factor in both games. wando and valley will play for lower and valley will play trojans in final if nhs can overcome irmo's home field advantage which is huge.

What happened in the Irmo/Spartanburg game? Heard Spart was up 3-0. Can anyone confirm?
spartanburg did go up 3-0 after a minute into the game they capatlized on a penalty where the irmo keeper recievd a redcard...it was 3-2 at half time and irmo scored 4 more goals with 10 men...they deserve mad props

Is Dorman's field not in good shape? I thought it was by FAR the best pitch in the state when I played on it last year. Little bit of a crown if I remember correctly, but pretty wide open and a really smooth surface.

Dorman's field is EXTREMELY small and compact. It has no width and is very short length wise. But the pitch looked excellent, seemed to be very flat and well kept.
