Question on eligibility of JV players. How many total games can they play during a season between Varsity and JV and still be called up for playoffs??
Thanks

Kyle, Can you answer this question for me?
Thanx

Sorry, I didn't see this question yesterday. I'm no 'soccer guru', but I do read a lot and can usually find things pretty quickly -- I'll check back with an answer later today.

Guru-man (Heise)
Did you find out how many games can be played between jv and varsity...or how many times a jv player can be moved up and down on both rosters. but summerville has a problem which will just make their JV and average team instead of one of the elite's. Thanx GURU-MAN looking forward to your answer.

SOTH - I am not Kyle, the Soccer Guru, but I think JV players can only be rostered for 12 games total (JV and/or Varsity), so a decision would have to be made in which JV games they'd miss and which varsity games they'd play. If JV players move up and get rostered onto Varsity, then they can play up to 16 games total. So, I think the JV players can finish out their season then get rostered on the varsity -- but I am not sure about that...we'll have to wait for the "Guru-man" to share his wisdom.

This is what I have found out by reading the SCHSL Handbook's Constitution section.

SCHSL Constitution

Seventh, Eighth and Ninth Grade Activities Rules and Regulations

These regulations apply to all 7th, 8th and 9th grade students participating in Junior High or Middle School programs as well as students participating on exclusively 7th and 8th grade teams under the High School Program. All ninth grade students participating in a high school program will not be restricted by these regulations or the regulations restricting junior high school teams in the National Federation rules books.

Students below the seventh grade may not participate in interscholastic athletics. Students in grades 7 and 8 will not be permitted to participate on varsity interscholastic teams in football, wrestling, and soccer.

A-25 (bottom of page)

A junior high or middle school student promoted to a high school varsity, junior varsity, or other interschool squad, may not return to junior high or middle school competition during the current year in the same sport if he has participated in a gmae played by the advanced squad.

A-27 (Soccer section)

1. Practice may begin on January 26.
2. The soccer season will open on March 1 and close on April 17. Eligibility forms are due in the League Office at least 7 days before the first match.
3. Schools are limited to 12 matches.
4. A student will be restricted to one game per day except they may play in two games in one day in an invitational tournament. There must be a minimum of one hour's rest between games.

Thanx Kyle. I thought there was also a total limit of JV/Varsity games (maybe 16) that a guy could participate in and still play in playoffs.
