Sorry, I thought I was repeating you...gotta admit, you provided us with a mantra that stuck.

CHT, you get dibs on it next time, but only if you can correct the punctuation error.

I love this forum...
Can one of you more experienced parents / coaches explain the difference between this and what Columbia United announced? Are the clubs racing to do the same thing or are they different?

The Elite Club National league, that CESA announced, is just that- a league with many of the top girls teams in the league. My daughter's team played in the Red Bull this year, which is what this league is now. They played teams from AZ, Ca, Mass, Ohio, Il in the events and they accumlate points and have a national playoff. Very high level and will be a difficult league to win a lot of games. They have some of the league games at CASL, etc. but are not part of the regular tournament play

The CUFC looks like a US Club team that will try to play in the big showcases- to help get college looks. Based on the acceptance rates, probably CASL, Orange, Jefferson.

Does anybody no if these teams would no longer participate in the Premier league or would this be on top of their premier schedule?

Since it's only about 9 games for the ECNL spread out over 6 months or so after the fall league play ends, I would assume all the teasm play in the regular leagues. It would ussually take the place of tournaments

I came across this on another forum while trying to do some research on the Elite Clubs National League for girls:

http://www.websitetoolbox.com/tool/post/andagain/vpost?id=3327845&trail=

There is some great information on why the league has been developed and where they intend to take it over the next 5 years. From what I could get out of all the information looks like it will be close to what the Boys Academy is doing already just over 5 years to get the girls to the same structure.

Elite Clubs National League Press Release

MILWAUKEE, Wisc. - On Tuesday, April 28, 2009, the Elite Clubs National League ("ECNL") announced the inaugural member clubs for the 2009- 2010 season. The ECNL will kick-off its inaugural season at the Eclipse Select Challenge Cup August 14-16, 2009, in Chicago and will continue with year- long competition in conjunction with multiple national showcase events that culminates in the ECNL National Championship in Seattle in July 2010. In addition, the ECNL will provide a subsidized player identification program for players to be scouted for youth national teams in conjunction with US Club Soccer's id2 Program.

In 2009-2010, the ECNL season will feature 40 of the top youth girls clubs in the United States in the U15-U17 age groups competing in a 12-game season. Teams in the ECNL will compete for individual age group ECNL National Championships and an overall ECNL Club National Championship.

In each age group, teams will be placed in two flights of 20 teams each, (Challenge A and Challenge B), based on team strength. The ECNL will host stand- alone events and partner with existing national showcase events for completion of a 10-game regular season. Upon completion of a 10-game regular season, multiple four team playoff groups in each flight will be established based on the regular season standings. The top four teams in each age group in the Challenge A division will compete for the ECNL National Championship and the winner will be crowned the age group ECNL National Champion. The bottom four teams in the Challenge A division will compete in a relegation playoff where the winning team will remain in the Challenge A division for the next season and the remaining three teams will be relegated to the Challenge B division. The top four teams in the Challenge B division will compete for the promotion playoff where the top three teams will be promoted to the Challenge A division for the next season.

"The ECNL is a great step for elite girls youth players in this country," said ECNL President Christian Lavers (FC Milwaukee). "The ECNL is founded on the concept that elite female player development in the United States needs a structure that will reduce the total number of games on the schedule and increase the number of meaningful, quality games. The ECNL sets forth a vision that gives us a clear path to that goal -a national competition schedule and a national identification program linked to that competition."

"A great deal of work has gone into making the ECNL a reality. That, coupled with the commitment of the clubs involved, provides very exciting prospects for us all moving forward. This league is going to be something very special," said ECNL Vice President, Doug Bracken (Ohio Elite Soccer Academy).

2009-2010 ECNL clubs include some of the most accomplished girls youth clubs in the United States: Albertson Fury, New York; Arsenal FC, California; Atlanta Fire, Georgia; Bethesda SC, Maryland; Birmingham United, Alabama; CASL, North Carolina; CESA Premier, South Carolina; Challenge SC, Texas; Charlotte Soccer Academy, North Carolina; Colorado Rush, Colorado; Concorde Fire, Georgia; Connecticut FC, Connecticut; Crossfire Premier, Washington; Dallas Sting, Texas; D'Feeters, Texas; Eclipse Select, Illinois; FC Dallas, Texas; FC DELCO, Pennsylvania; FC Milwaukee, Wisconsin; FC Stars of Mass, Massachusetts; FC Virginia, Virginia; Freestate Soccer Alliance, Maryland; FSA SoccerPlus, Connecticut; Irvine Strikers, California; Lonestar SC, Texas; Minnesota Thunder, Minnesota; Mustang SC, California; Neusport FC, Nevada; Ohio Elite Soccer Academy, Ohio; Ohio Premier, Ohio; PDA, New Jersey; Pleasanton Rage, California; Real Colorado, Colorado; San Juan SC, California; SC Del Sol, Arizona; Sereno SC, Arizona; Solar, Texas; St. Louis Scott Gallagher, Missouri; Virginia Rush, Virginia; West Coast FC, California.

The ECNL is incorporated as a not-for-profit organization and will apply for 501(c)(3) status. The ECNL is operated and managed by a Board of Directors elected by the member clubs. The member clubs will also vote on admission of new clubs, the competitive format of the league, and all league rules and policies.

PL: Wow, thanks for the shout out.

I just read about the ECNL. After being critical of CESA on the women's side for not attending the top events and doing what's best for girls, I have to admit that CESA, in my opinion, is now a complete club for females after making this move. Great decision and it's where any top female in the state should move to and play! CESA girls? Check. Done. Great stuff.

CESA boys? Get in the USSF Academy and it's check. Done. Abolish all other clubs and get rid of acronyms SCYSA and ODP and call all South Carolina soccer CESA.

Just got this from a CESA parent. Looks like players who make the Premier teams will not only play in the Elite Clubs National League, but they will do so wihtout paying Training Fees and Coaching Expenses. Wow.

CESA Under 15, 16 and 17 Girls Premier 2009-2010 Information

The following information regarding the 2009-2010 year discusses CESA membership within the ECNL, Region III, SCYSA Challenge Cup and CESA Club fees. This applies to the rising Under 15, 16 and 17 Girls Premier teams.

An additional attachment with an official ECNL press release is accompanying this letter.

CESA will be participating in the Elite Clubs National League for Girls. We feel that it is important that our Premier level teams have the opportunity to compete with many of the best youth programs on a national scale. CESA recognizes that each family must sacrifice a great deal in order to participate at the highest levels of youth soccer. We are fully committed to providing the best soccer environment possible and feel strongly that the ECNL will provide this for our girls’ teams.

CESA as an organization recognizes that there will be additional costs associated with our participation within the ECNL. We feel as a club that it only makes sense to look at ways that can help our members take advantage of the opportunities we provide, and have made decisions that will impact the club fees that will be associated with participation on our Under 15, 16 and 17 Girls Premier National League teams.

Players selected for the CESA 92, 93 and 94 Premier Girls National League Teams for 2009-2010 will be responsible for their CESA Registration Fees ($100) and all individual player travel expenses associated with both league and tournament events.

CESA has made the decision to help offset the costs associated with ECNL participation by providing the training fees and Coaches Travel Expenses for these teams for the 2009-2010 year. Additionally, CESA has secured a uniform sponsor for the ECNL teams and each player will receive the ECNL uniform set before the fall season begins. These financial decisions were made with the best interests of all players at heart and we are excited about the opportunities that lie ahead for all players within the CESA program. We are looking to the future and feel that CESA will continue to produce creative and ambitious players who will have the chance to showcase their abilities.

We are fully aware of the costs incurred with selection for these ECNL teams and feel that funds that have been raised for the CESA program should be used to make it possible for these elite level players to compete and test themselves against the best on an ongoing basis.

The CESA leadership, with corporate sponsorship and community support, has begun taking immediate steps to secure additional funding for the purposes of enabling CESA teams to limit the costs associated with participation in a comprehensive soccer program.

We look forward to the upcoming year and appreciate the passion, dedication and desire to develop shown by the players within the CESA family.
