Is there anyone that will be able to give us updates from the Region Camp at Mississippi State?

Just in SC '91 beats MS 3-0.
Posted By: HappyDaddy Re: Region III ODP Camp - 07/08/07 04:05 PM
In the past there has been a link on the SCYSA website that will take you to daily reports on game results and evening pool games. I assume they will do that this year. If not, check the Region 3 site (USYSRegion3.org).

Today SC '91G beats OK in pk's.

91 Boys beat N Texas 2-1 today.
Posted By: taylorbabe Re: Region III ODP Camp - 07/09/07 10:18 PM
The 91 boys game was called early due to lightning with approximately 22 minutes to play in the second half. At the admin meeting this afternoon, the teams were informed they would be resuming this match at 6:45pm tonight to finish the remaining 22 minutes.

If the SC boys play with the same speed and intensity as they did this morning, they should be fine...

The 91 boys finished the job this evening, beating North Texas 2-1 in the first round of the region championships. The second round will be played in January at the subregionals...site and team TBA. Also, congrats to Bradley Bugg, Michael Valencia and Alex Martinez for being selected for the pool game in the morning. Great start for the SC boys!!
Posted By: Soccer16 Re: Region III ODP Camp - 07/10/07 12:36 PM
I heard that the 92 boys were losing to MS 3-1 with the game being delayed as well. Any word on how they finished up?
Posted By: Bear Re: Region III ODP Camp - 07/10/07 12:55 PM
Taylorbabe,

Thanks for the clarification. I was going to post one similar to yours since my report was somewhat "foggy" at the time. If you don't mind please, PM me your perspective on that.
Posted By: HappyDaddy Re: Region III ODP Camp - 07/10/07 01:35 PM
The report I heard was that the 92 boys won 3-1 and that Joey Demare scored all three goals.
Posted By: Soccer16 Re: Region III ODP Camp - 07/10/07 02:22 PM
Nope, they lost 4-1 with Joey having the lone goal with the assist coming from Cameron Wegrzyn. My son finally decided to call me!
Posted By: EASoccer9 Re: Region III ODP Camp - 07/10/07 04:48 PM
The 91 boys tied Georgia 0-0 this morning...while missing several players due to the pool game and injuries. Great efforts by the boys on the pitch!!
Posted By: Greg De Mare Re: Region III ODP Camp - 07/10/07 08:41 PM
Joey scored 3 goals in a scrimmage.

Congratulations to the SC 1991 Girls, coached by USC's Jamie Smith, who went undefeated at Montevallo this week. They beat Mississippi 3-0, Louisiana 3-0, and defeated Oklahoma in PK's after a 0-0 tie in regular play. They will move on to the next round in January(place, etc., TBD).

Also, Congrats to the 91 Girls that were held over for the Region III Pool:

Jade Davis - goalkeeper
Katie Tate - goalkeeper
Morgan Thomas - mid

The SC 91 boys defeated Tennessee 4-1 this afternoon, after rain delayed the morning matches. Alex Martinez scored the first two goals, while Andrew Gorospe scored the goal of the week (in my humble opinion) with a 25 yard screamer to the far post after a great run out of the back. Ryan Goodwin finished out the scoring after converting the rebound off of his blocked penalty kick. The boys will finish up camp with a game against Mississippi tomorrow morning.

BTW, While you're recognizing players accomplishments, congratulations to Brendan Shumberger for yesterday's shutout against Georgia and shutting out Tennessee during his half today. Zero goals against in 105 minutes.

Anyone else feeling like SCYSA could do a better job posting, and making information handy to us back at home? Other than this site, where's information including games (when and scores), pool players (who's chosen and how they played), etc.
Posted By: Soccer16 Re: Region III ODP Camp - 07/12/07 12:48 PM
Most definetly! At least post some of the results somewhere. I know they have had difficulty obtaining internet access but there should be someway to get information out. However the results turn out, this year has been a wonderful experience for my son on the '92 team. The coaching has been great and believe it or not they have put in more hours training than alot of club teams. This is contrary to what I hear from other age groups.

The national pools for every age group are posted on the ussoccer.com website each year:

http://www.ussoccer.com/common/stContent.jsp_85-2007U15BNTPool.html

The Region III pool posting are not as easy to locate for some reason. Here's the Region III link.

In looking at the SCYSA Boys ODP News there are 13 Region III Pool Players, 2 90's, 6 91's, and 5 94's, and SCYSA Girls ODP News there are 6 Region III Pool Players, 3 91's and 3 92's.

Both the boys and girls 91 teams won the first round of the ODP National Championship and will continue play in January.

From the SCYSA web site, "This is definitely a first for South Carolina Youth Soccer Olympic Development Program. This means that the Girls and Boys ODP teams will be invited to a playoff in January 2008, and if they win, then go on to the ODP National Championship in Texas in March."

Looks to me to be an outstanding year for SC ODP at the Regional level!
Posted By: FutbolMadness Re: Region III ODP Camp - 07/18/07 03:32 AM
