Carlos,
Good luck to you. I know you will do well and although I never got to know you that well, you were clearly well respected among the coaching fraternity and just enjoyed life.
For those of you that have never experienced Coach Osorio, I would like to share a story.
While coaching The North/South Classic several years ago in Mt. Pleasant, after practice on Friday, he challenged the Boys Team to meet some of the Girls team.
The routine was that the Bus would take both teams(Boys on one side and Girls on the other) to their different practice fields.
Most of the players did not really know each other and when the Boys were picked up first after practice that afternoon, on the way to pick up the girls he stood up and asked them " Is there anyone on this bus that does not want to meet and talk to these young ladies". They all just kind of looked at each other and shook their heads. He asked for the bus to be stopped and told the guys "Everyone get up and have one guy occupy each seat--when the girls get on, they will have no choice but to sit next to each of you".
Within seconds, it was done. I wish you could have seen the look on faces when the girls got on--it was priceless. Everyone seemed to enjoy the ride back and Carlos seemed to act like a proud parent.
He seems to Coach his players with a similar fervor and enjoyment! He will be missed.
