Academic Magnet and Bishop England are rivals on the field. However, there are times that circumstances transcend a rivalry. Some of you know that AMHS freshman Nick Price has a pontine glioma- a form of brain cancer. One of the fundraising methods is that a family friend of the Price's is selling "I'm Kickin with Nick" t-shirts. We have a team set that we unveiled tonight as warm-up shirts for our game at BE.
In what can only be described as the classiest of moves, Bishop England also came out in the shirts!
Nick and his family are considering surgery in July. They may have to spend as much as 4 months in Arizona as that appears to be the best doctor to perform the complicated surgery as well as rehab.
High school soccer is our tool as coaches to teach kids about life lessons. Some of those lessons are difficult ones. The real win tonight was not about the score line... it was about the lesson that 50ish players left with and how they apply that lesson in the future.
