Tonights game is a match up between the #2 team , Cardinal newman and the #4 team , Hammond. Cardinal Newman is comin into the game after finishing 2nd in the Sandhills classic, hammond - loss to pinewood by 6, the quality of tonights win for CN should show how they compare to pinewood and give a good indication of how well they can rule the Northern region of SCISA.

And should Hammond after two dissappointing losses with PP and PG last weekend win tonight, what would that show?

don't forget, Hammond had a very good showing at the Lake Murray Challenge, losing to Irmo 3-0 while also losing to Greenwood in pks

Hammond played the Lake Murray Classic without 4 of their starters. The PP game was 2-0 at half when the keeper broke his arm. The PG game was 1-1 with 30 sec to go when the ref allowed a 10 yd offsides by PG and a score. I think they have a great chance tonight to beat CN despite the loss of the starting keeper.

There was no offsides in the PG game to win the game, Hammond had plenty of chances and were called offsides many times and so was PG. They just got the best of the situation and succeeded.

finkle63, You are absolutely wrong. I saw the video and PG was actually 5 yds offside. This is just one of the problems with the 2 ref system, they cant often keep up.

Final Score 4-4in regular time, Cardinal newman slides by 5-4 in pks. First half Cn came out slow and not ready to play and hammond defently outplayed CN with there hustle but the cardinals had the upperhand on the score board 2-0. 2nd half was evenly played with hammond getting 2 goals to tie it up, Then Cn scored then Hammond then Cn and in the final seconds Hammond tied it. I would like to applaud both teams for a well played game, and i encourage anyone to come watch these two teams play again it was very entertaining.

Sidenet,
You're all over the place with the Hammond-PG game. First it was 10 yards off, and now it's 5 yards off, attributable to the two ref system.
First, there were 3 refs. Also, it was the 1st of PG's goals that had the spectators clamoring for off side, not the second in the last 30 seconds.
Of course the video that was taken I'm sure was in line with the 2nd to the last defender for a true representation, not in the press box.

Comet, You may be correct about the # of refs, I was generously offering an excuse for the official's lack of judgement. As for the video, it was shot from a point almost even from the play and NOT the press box so there is no doubt about the miss. Also, after viewing it, I corrected the distance from 10 to 5 yards. Sorry to offend, my bad! I think those guys get to play later in the season when it counts and I'm sure it will be another fairly even match.

Not really offended. I didn't and don't have a stake in this particular match either way, just happened to be there to take it in. It was an exciting match to watch. Some great play from both sides is being lost and overshadowed in useless debate. I agree, when they meet again, it will most likely be another good one to watch.
