After a scoreless OT, Broome wins on PKs 3-2. Game got started late because of the weather. Field drained well so conditions weren't too bad as the rain continued to fall. Broome's goal was scored by Mackenzie Camby on a putback off a shot taken by Lauren Hutson that hit the crossbar. All the girls played well (both offense and defense on both teams) in the wet conditions. They all played with great energy and determination. Hope that continues for Broome Monday against Gaffney (after the prom this weekend). Officials were great. Really liked how they took the time to talk to the players involved when a hard foul was committed or a yellow card was given. I always think that is best in the long run since it helps the player(s) calm down and they also get an explanation for why the decision was given.

Dreher v Flora, in effect the Region III, 3A Championship Game.

Game stopped roughly 25 minutes into the 1st half due to lightning, Flora ahead 1-0.

I understand that the game will not be restarted, but will be rescheduled, meaning that they start back at 0-0 and play two full halves.

What are the criteria used to determine the fate of a situation like this? Under what circumstances would a game be considered a complete game (like a baseball game after 5 innings)? Under what circumstances would a game be restarted from the point at which it was stopped? Under what circumstances would a game be rescheduled (that is, started from the opening whistle)?

In Region 1, game is recorded once halftime is reached. Sometimes a 30 minute half is agreed upon prior to the whistle.

HS League Rules for soccer are that a half is considered a complete game, I think. The rule in the HS League rulebook states "In the event a soccer game is called prior to completion of one half because of conditions, which makes it impossible to continue play, the game will be resumed from the point of interruption."

So, according to what y'all say, the game will be restarted at the point it was stopped. I looked it up myself and you are correct. I didn't realize that the High School league rules addressed the situation. The game will be restarted from the point of interuption.

The scoreboard wasn't working. The halves are 45 minutes, I guess. Therefore, Dreher dodged the bullet by 15 - 20 minutes. Still too close for comfort.

our team (Marlboro County) is playing very well at this point. We are passing the ball around one and two touch. Other teams cant catch us to do anything. Our 3 athletes including Satoya are able to get the ball and go around anyone. We have a center mid, Lauren Stuart who has 16 assts this year. Loves to pass first, either to Satoya or our other forward for goals. Of our 10 goals last night 9 were assisted which is great showing that one isnt just dribbling everyone. Our defense is finally playing very well. Since our last loss we are only allowing 2 goals. I know the teams we played arent that great but I have the Same starting 11 from last yrs 1-13 squad. So that team last yr prob. wouldnt have beat Andrews or anyone else 10-0. So they are def. much improved. Its all about confidence for my s. They dont care who they are playing. They are happy they are winning. And I def. was not trying to start a huge controversy w/ putting Satoya's stats on here. Just getting her a little recognition. MC has never had it. Thanks

High school league rules:
If stopped in the first half. The game is re-scheduled and the game resumes at the point of interuption. Game score should be kept 1-0 not 0-0.
They have to do it this way or violate high school league rules!

Believe me, the girls at Seneca would've very much like to have the goals for and goals against more reflect our record. However, I truly don't see the point of beating teams when they are down. I felt bad after beating Berea as badly as we did and we only played with 9 girls and had 6 different scorers. We could've very well had a girl with 9 goals in that game but I think that reflects poorly on both the coach and the program. So don't hold it against us and make it look like we shouldn't be ranked up there with the best in the state. These girls deserve it with the turnaround they've made from only being 2-13 last season.
