Question.....does anyone REALLY think that we are home to three of the top 25 boys high school teams in the country?

South Carolina?

In R3 we are more or less in the bottom third of states and we produce FAR fewer college bound players than a Texas or NC or Georgia or Florida.

We've produced exactly 0 regional champions in the last 5-6 years, compared to the states listed above.

And we have 3 of the top 25 HS programs in the country?

I want some of whatever you guys are imbibing.....

FYI -- Florida, North Carolina, and Texas do not play spring season soccer, so they don't figure into the spring rankings.

Ok, so these aren't "real" rankings. Kind of like the "World Series" of softball thats played in Rock Hill every year. Its really.....the eastern half of the US.....Series.

In any case.......no one is saying that NW, Irmo, and FM aren't very, very good sides. Beccause they are excellent!!! People just need to keep it real and not worry about rankings.

Altho I now hear that we have JV rankings in the state and my boys are ranked!!! Woo hoo!!!

I was just thinking.....isn't funny, we're absolutely a football state. And when you think about the great football thats played here and the great teams and players...

Spartanburg back in the day.....Dorman, Byrnes, Rock Hill, Northwestern, South Pointe, Summerville, Gaffney......

How many times have we had a # 1 ranked team?

Yet in soccer.....we've had a bunch of # 1 rankings. Pretty sure Irmo has been # 1. Several of Nick Finotti's teams have been # 1....Spring Valley....now Northwestern again.

No offense.....but a state not known for soccer, in fact, ridiculed by its neighbors for the quality of its soccer, has a plethora of #1 ranked teams.

And in football, where we actually do a pretty god job at the HS level....hmmm.

There's only a handful of states that play soccer in the spring.

This is what the rankings are based off of (spring soccer).

This is why we have teams in these ranks. I will say though, there have been a number of teams (05 SA and this current NW squad) who could compete with any HS in the nation regardless of when they play.
