South Carolina United FC Announces Academy Initiative Program For U14 Boys

Beginning with the Fall 2009 season, South Carolina United FC will be offering a U14 Academy Initiative Program in conjunction with its existing U16 and U18 US Development Academy Program. The U14 Academy Initiative Program will consist of pooling the best '95 and '96 players from across the state. Registered through US Club Soccer with South Carolina United FC, these players will engage in training sessions and match play under the guidance and supervision of the South Carolina United FC coaching staff and otherwise participate in curriculum and competition as implemented by the United States Soccer Federation's US Development Academy Leadership.

While final plans are still in progress, it is anticipated that all U14 Academy Initiative players selected will compete in 8-12 matches against teams from other U.S. Development Academy club’s Initiative programs throughout the 2009/2010 season which will be scheduled around the players’ home clubs’ regular activities as best can be accommodated. It is anticipated that matches will be played mid-November thru February. It is also anticipated that U14 Academy Initiative Pool will train together 1 – 3 times a week depending on the time of the year.

South Carolina United FC will be hosting a Tryout and Informational meeting on June 6th 2-4pm at the BB&T Soccer Complex,Ballentine SC. All male players born in 1995 or 1996 are eligible to attend tryouts regardless of current USYSA club affiliation. The U14 Academy Initiative Program is supplemental to a player’s regular SCYSA team club participation. Tryouts are free of charge as long as you Pre-Register On-line before 5p.m. on June 4, 2009. A $25 walk-in fee for players who fail to Pre-Register on-line will be required on June 6 before any player will be permitted to try out.

The SCUFC site shows two field locations for training sites - one in Cola and one at Charleston Southern. Where will the location for the 1-3 training times a week be held. Does this involvement allow for play on ones home club as well - or must one become a SCUFC player exclusivly?

what i gather from the statements "...will be scheduled around the players’ home clubs’ regular activities as best can be accommodated" and "...is supplemental to a player’s regular SCYSA team club participation" is that this is in addition to, or separate from, "ones home club."
