I like Clover, but I think I might like Lexington a little better right now.

Dutch Fork and Blythewood both may be better than Spring Valley.

Those final 3 slots were tough. I ranked the top 7 and wanted to stop, but hopefully results from the remainder of the week will clear things up for next week.

Mr. Peabody’s AAAA Top 10 for games played through 3/23/2011:
1. Riverside (10-1-0)
2. Wando (7-1-0)
3. Mauldin (4-1-1)
4. Irmo (7-1-1)
5. Spartanburg (9-1-0)
6. Blythewood (6-2-0)
7. Dutch Fork (5-3-1)
8. Spring Valley (5-2-2)
9. J. L. Mann (5-4-1)
10. Lexington (6-3-0)

Records shown above are overall, but this ranking is based primarily on AAAA results between the following 18 top AAAA teams: Blythewood, Clover, Dorman, Dutch Fork, Hillcrest, Irmo, J. L. Mann, Lexington, Mauldin, Riverside, South Aiken, Spartanburg, Spring Valley, T. L. Hanna, Wando, West Ashley, White Knoll, Wren

All of the top ten teams have wins over teams in this list. Clover and White Knoll, for examples, do not.

Lexington defeated Clover 2-0. Both Dutch Fork and Blythewood have beaten Spring Valley although by only 1-0 margins in both cases.

Both of SV's losses to Dutch Fork and Blythewood were 1-0 in OT. Lexington beat Clover and SV beat Lexington. My point is who really knows until the end of May.

You're right, of course. But it is fun to discuss and speculate.

Clover played Lexington without their top center defender. I like Lexington, they belong in the Top 10, but they may not have scored had Clover been at full-strength.

Clover's other 4A loss is to Riverside, who I think may be the best high school girls soccer team in the southeast US (props to Mauldin for their draw).

Clover over Spartanburg to win the Region 4 title.

Not poo-pooing Lexington, like I said above, Lexington is a Top 10 team. Not only are they talented and well-coached, they play very hard.
