soccerboy, you could question a few of the calls but felt center reffed the game better than the majority I have been at or seen. Didn't get same read as your post and really didn't see the PK call. He did let BOTH teams get away with obvious pushing in back, jersey grabbing, and throw ins 10+ yds up the field. Thought both sets of parents were pretty cool over all. When I reffed a few years back, we were told certain words where straight red, no questions asked. We were asked by Fred and AD's to strictly enforce. Back to the game, Irmo keeper made solid stop on PK. Emmett and Dunbaker were work horses constantly covering an amazing amount of ground. Irmo attack seemed very predictable with not much originality. Need to consider that Nation Ford did not have their two best defenders at the game. One with an academy commitment and the other sitting out a red card from the Fort Mill game. Irmo picked on the two freshman outside backs. Thought NF had a pretty strong game in middle of field. Saw one of the top Irmo defenders megged multiple times and beat one on one by the NF RM that set up their goal. Irmo defenders did have amazing distanct and accuracy on their clears. #15 from Irmo appeared to read the game well. Irmo filled all the attacking lanes consistently and missed numerous possible goal scoring opportunities off headers. Solid side but didn't see the team I was expecting from the posts on this board and their #1 ranking. Not having seen them play before, don't know impact of the losing the CB early had on team. Irmo did move the ball on the ground well with Emmett heart of team, controlling center, and distributing the ball very well. Irmo kept shape well overall but hats off to Nation Ford for the battle and effort they displayed. The last 4-5 weeks of this season should be interesting. Just hope that the two best teams make it to the championship game.
