Scrimmages DO NOT count towards a team's overall record.

However, PRESEASON TOURNAMENTS -- just like REGULAR SEASON TOURNAMENTS -- DO COUNT on a team's overall record. This allows teams in different classifications and parts of the state to play each other without the Class 4A points system being affected.

Look around at ALL sports -- in basketball, baseball, softball, etc. -- tournament matches count on a team's record, but scrimmages do not. It's a general rule that when officials are paid and admission charged for an event -- those games will count on a team's overall record.

So, if a team wins 2 matches and loses 1 match in a preseason tournament, but wins all four scrimmages -- that team's record would be 2-1.

This is nothing new, but I thought this might help clarify it for you.
