Irmo.... if you can (since I could not send you a PM)... what is the mood of the CSC populous regarding this merger. In the past this was not looked upon favorably by either side...
And as a thought
Would it not make more sense for coaching resources, etc. to have the COLA METRO SC as a challenge level club (ala Bridge) where all the players in the area who desire to play the highest levels can try out for the teams. This has the potential to bring in all parties in the area and create a juggernaut in the midlands.

Wonderful news...2004striker, I can no longer accuse you of "barking at the moon" in terms of mergers...for some reason, things have changed and people are considering things that they thought were unthinkable...that's great.
I also think that the letter CSC/NECSA sent out was well written. Letters like this are difficult because everyone wants to know the details; but if you succeed in getting across your strategy I think you've done your job.
futbol(soccer)...are you advocating any clubs in Columbia who participate in an alliance not to play to play challenge? Not criticizing...just wondering.

Chico, I think the winds of change were stirred when Spurrier came to Columbia. He has this magical touch that pervades the universe.

I am advocating that a Bridge style challenge program would be best suited for the midlands. Leaves the classic level to the "normal" clubs and provides a challenge level for those who want it (I do). This will be more likely to bring in all the clubs and provide the best possible use of resources.
Why? because the number of players available for challenge level play is smaller than classic. Thus Janie or Johnny who are able to play at the challenge level have a home and do not wallow in the lower competitive areas. If you think about it, CESA already does this with premier, challenge, classic 1 and 2.
Difference...instead of superclub you have an alliance. From the outside it would appear to be more politically acceptable. Noone can deny that Pearce and Andrew did a great job, as noone except Mt P can deny that Bridge was able to provide the upper levels.
If you think about it with your numbers CSC/NECSA/LCSC in an alliance would provide VERY competitive teams that would , in my opinion, be competitive regionally as well.

Chico has always advocated that the Cola area needs a model similar to CESA......a club that offers a full range of services (rec-premier) to it's members.
An "alliance" falls short of this goal.

Cola Fan,
Phil was an assistant coach for the U-18 girls. He was extremely active with them.

Hurst66... I am familiar with Chico's stance.... I am just proposing an alternate that may have a better chance of succeeding.

Mergers/partnerships are hard enough in terms of making sure that you make things better for all levels of youth soccer players and making sure you eliminate all perceptual and actual conflicts of interest; I think any structure that the parents/players of CSC and NECSA agree on will be wonderful.
