While football was the focus of Wednesday's National Signing Day, athletes from other sports signed on the dotted line, a reward for years of hard work.

At Wando High School, four talented members of the girls' soccer team picked their colleges of choice.

Lou Hudson signed with Clemson, Kelly McGinty signed with the College of Charleston, Laura Saunders signed with Southern Methodist University and Greta Hewett signed with Newberry. Another Warrior soccer player, Rachel Bisnet, will walk on at Purdue.

Hudson and McGinty were recently named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America/adidas Girls High School Scholar All-America Team with grade-point averages over 4.0.

Hudson and McGinty were two of only 38 girls on the team, while Wando was only one of four schools to have two players selected.

They were just as talented on the soccer field. McGinty led the Warriors to a 19-2 record, including 9-1 in Region 7-AAAA with 36 goals and 19 assists. Hudson had 10 goals and seven assists.

Saunders scored seven goals and had four assists, while Bisnett accounted for 10 goals and two assists.

The Warriors are shooting for a big season this spring. They were ranked third in the state in Class AAAA in the South Carolina High School Soccer Coaches Association preseason poll.
