CESA Teams Victorious in Tournament Play

Congratulations to the CESA 92 Girls Premier team, winners of the Impact USA (fka Diadora Impact) Girls Only Invitational tournament held in Knoxville, Tennessee this past weekend. Also, congratulations go out to the CESA 93 Boys Premier and 92 Boys Challenge teams, winners of the U-13 and U-14 divisions in the Charlotte Soccer Club's Adidas Charlotte Cup.

The CESA 92 Girls Premier finished their round-robin U-14 bracket play with an undefeated record of 4-0 to win their division in Knoxville. They defeated North Atlanta Soccer Association (NASA) '11 Elite (GA) 3-1, their sister CESA 92 Girls Challenge team 3-0 in a well-played game by both teams, and Tennessee 93 United Red 2-1. They also defeated the 2nd place finishers, Lexington (KY) FC Premier, in a hard-found contest. This match was very closely contested with the CESA team remaining poised under pressure throughout. CESA scored the winning goal on a counter late in the first half and went on to win by a 1-0 score. The CESA 92 Girls Premier players include Hannah Allison, Alyssa Althoff, Casey Black, Gracie Boswell, Morgan Cutts, Linday Flanagan, Krista Hagler, Amy Hoover, Mary Kathryn Macklen, Kaitlyn Neipp, Mckay Sharpe, Anna Tarry and Mary Wessel. The team is coached by Jim Rinker.

Also participating in the Girls Only Invitational were CESA 94 Girls Premier, who were finalists in the U-12 division, 93 Girls Challenge, and 92 Girls Challenge.

CESA 92 Boys Challenge won the U-14 Boys bracket in Charlotte by going 2-0-1 in round-robin play to advance to the finals. They defeated 92 Charlotte United Green 2-0, 92 Charlotte SC Boys White 3-0 and tying 92 Fayetteville Force Premier 1-1 along the way, and in the championship match, they were victorious by a 1-0 score over USA Matthews United.

In the U-13 Boys bracket in Charlotte, CESA 93 Boys Premier had a record of 2-0-1 in round-robin play, defeating the Thunder (NC) 3-1 and 93 Charlotte SC Blue 5-0 and finishing in a hard-fought 0-0 tie with the Stars SC Arsenal (GA). CESA then won in a PK-shootout with the Arsenal to advance to the finals, where they handily defeated 93 Charlotte United FC Green by a score of 6-0.

In addition to these teams, the CESA 95 Girls Pool 1 team also did very well, finishing as runners-up in the U11 Girls bracket after losing a hard-fought match to CSC Siskey Freedom in the finals. Other CESA teams participating in the tournament were CESA 96 Boys Pool 1, 95 Boys Pool 3, 94 Pool 1A, 94 Pool 1B, 94 Pool 2, 94 Boys Premier, 93 Boys Challenge, 96 Girls Pool 1, 95 Girls Pool 2, 94 Girls Pool 1A, 94 Girls Pool 1B, 93 Girls Classic, and 91 Girls Classic.
