.....and Louisville was ranked as the third best team in the country (until last night)!

Kids play sports because they find it fun. Eliminate the fun and soon you eliminate the kid.

>>[Beezer] WAGS, CASL, Disney and PDA are the top events for quality and quantity and are not overrated. The reason very low numbers of SC teams are there is because 1) they don't get in or 2) get placed in low brackets, CESA included.<<

sbs: Isn't it amazing that CESA's girls are playing Showcase and Predator and yet we've got "Beezer" telling us how CESA can't get into these tournaments or are placed in low brackets?

Fascinating, huh? It does somewhat call into question "Beezer"'s understanding of the landscape of women's soccer when he discounted CESA's explanation that it thought that WAGS and CASL were overrated and that the club was going to go to other tournaments.

One great thing about a message board -- when you're demonstrably wrong, it is pretty clear -- at least after a while.

Chico,

Yes, Beezer made some pretty bold and far-reaching statements on this message board concerning SC soccer, "CESA, inluded." My point to him then, and still is now, is that one can't lump CESA in with the rest of the "SC soccer" that he was talking about. In my opinion, CESA has distinguished itself from the "SC soccer" that has gotten and still gets so little respect. I may be wrong but, the more I think about it, the bigger a deal I think it is that all of CESA's girls' teams got into higher flights than they did last year; 3 teams in showcase flights and 3 teams in predator flights. And believe me, there are plenty of very good teams in the copa flight and still more that didn't even get in. Of course, noone but a CESA supporter probably wants to hear about this or acknowledge it, but I really think this a very telling accomplishment for CESA in terms of the progress they have made in the past 2 years, and in terms of the amount of respect they have gained regionally. Now, hopefully, after they do their best to defend their State Cup titles (which is definitely not a given), the teams will be prepared to play well, and be able to take advantage of this opportunity to make even more headway, regionally and/or nationally.
Good luck to ALL the SC teams- boys/girls, CESA, Bridge FA, CUFC, DSC, or anyone else I might have missed- at Disney.
