I would like to get some suggestions for the Winter Clinic this year. The dates for the Winter Clinic are January 19-20 at the Clarion Town House Hotel in Columbia.

Let's talk about allowing 2 regular season games per day with a mandatory rest period between games (1 to 2 hours at least) up to twice per season. This would help teams' travel costs and allow to travel to play teams in areas where playing one game would not be feasible. Club teams do this all the time with little impact on players.

An example would be a team from Columbia traveling to play Bluffton and then Hilton Head. Bluffton could travel to the Myrtle Beach area to play two teams.

This would encourage teams in rural ares to play better competition.

Brian Purcell, Head Women's Soccer Coach at Presbyterian College, will be our featured speaker on Friday.

CESA will present the on-the-field training sessions at The Plex in Northeast Columbia on January 20. Breakfast (biscuits and juice) will be served in an informal fashion by the FCA prior to the coach's clinic on Saturday.

The Saturday sessions at The Plex in Northeast Columbia will be conducted by CESA Co-Executive Director Pearse Tormey.

Here is a copy of his bio from the CESA website:

Pearse is the co-executive director of CESA as well as a coach in our club. As a native of Ireland, Pearse represented his country at all levels of youth play. A graduate of Clemson University, Pearse was a member of the 1987 Clemson National Championship Team and finished his college career with over 40 goals and 40 assists. While playing for the Tigers, he was twice named All-American and was named to the All-ACC Team in 1988-1990. Pearse holds USSF "A" and National Youth licenses and has experience as a club and high school coach, tournament and camp director. Pearse was a staff coach for the Adidas ESP Camp in 2003 and 2004. He played professional soccer with the Charleston Battery, Carolina Shamrocks and Greenville Lions. Pearse is also a member of the South Carolina ODP coaching staff.
