I would like to congratulate the referees on their hard fought victory in the Camden vs. Chester match last night. Despite being down to Camden 3-1 at the break they dug deep & missed an obvious offsides that set up a very controversial foul in the box. Chester was awarded a pk & tied the score. Soon after, on a through ball the Camden keeper gathered the ball & a Chester player collided with the keeper. The Chester player gave the keeper an extra shot to the chest & tempers flared. A Camden player received a red card which he deserved. The Chester player that barreled into the keeper did not even receive a yellow card.
Hard as they tried the refs couldn't get Chester the win in regulation. This despite Camden playing a man down & Chester playing with twelve (YES TWELVE) players until the Camden fans & coach forced the refs to wake up & correct the situation.
After no score in either ot's the refs decided the game in pk's. The Camden keeper made a diving stop on a Chester pk. The initial contact pushed the ball forward. The ref blows the whistle & as the ball hits the ground the spin propels the ball into the goal. It's initially called no goal. The refs then meet & decide to award the goal despite admitting to blowing the whistle after the initial contact. Chester is given the game 4-3 in pk's.
Congratulations referees you fought through adversity & won the game. I trust you had a safe ride back to Chester.
