Wow, great draws for South Carolina. Half of the SC teams have to face North Texas and other top states. My pick to make it the farthest is DSC 90. Good chance to make the semis. Good luck to all the teams.

Where are the U14 CUFC Boys? I noticed several brackets only have one SC team. Why is that?

BFADAD, I assume you are joking or poking fun at someone.
In case you are not... look at the first entry for the links
1- Only the state champion advances to regionals 2- the premier league champion is also invited to attend unles they are state champions
For the U14 agr group SCYSA state champion was CESA
The R3PL east champion was CASL, since they also won the NC state cup the selection moves down to #2 in R3PL.
Number two was CESA since they are state champion move to #3
Number 3 was GSA Phoenix... since they are GA state champs move to 4
Number 4 Triangle FC U14... this is the team representing R3PL east at regionals

BFA, If you play in PL and are relatively successful, that increases your chances of qualifying for regionals as a PL rep, as Triangle did, even though they were a 4th place team with a 6-4-1 record. So.......I assume CUFC will play PL in the fall?

I just got done viewing internet clips about massive flooding in the Oklahoma City area, and there are several more days of rain in the forecast. I assume the fields are still playable; anybody out there with a scouting report? I remember Austin in 2004. Games were moved to San Antonio, the finals were shortened to 20 min. halves, and at half-time parents got to push water off the fields with giant squeegees! Good luck to the SC teams and I hope the sun comes out.

As of 3pm CST all games for the remainder of the day have been cancelled due to inclement weather...lots of rain, lightning and thunder. Managers will receive word from their state reps concerning what will happen next.
Perhaps scores haven't been posted because everything has revolved around the weather conditions and getting games played...

Its a shame that all these exceptional teams that have worked hard for years to make Regionals have to deal with such extreme conditions. It will be very difficult for teams to display their true abilities. I know weather cannot be controlled to fit your event, but given that the same thing happened in Texas, maybe that region should be avoided during this time of year, in favor of a more elevated region to be on the safe side of the weather.

What's amazing to me is that it hardly ever rains like this in Texas and Oklahoma. Two years ago, in Dallas, it was extremely hot and dry. I remember burning my backside on the green seats of the opening ceremonies venue...it was a baseball stadium...a very nice baseball stadium with dark green seats that soaked up the Dallas heat.
From some accounts, the weather at the fields has been very volatile...tornado-like conditions. For what it's worth...I'd much rather be stuck in a hotel room then out in that mess...
I understand that this event has been held in Memphis in the past...was a great venue with ample amounts of lodging...centrally located...

Matches should be doubled on Sat (except for the few few who played today) and an attempt to be back on schedule Sun. Matches are shortened to 25/min halves (I believe) on Sat.
Weather broke this afternoon—when no one played! But forecast not too good all weekend. . .

U18G Premier CESA fell 1-0 to Dallas Texans Sat morn. CESA was stronger team, especially in first half. They play again at 5 v. Tenn; then v. Greensboro Sun. Two wins and we should go through as second team in bracket. They represented SC well this morning.

g&B I am sorry that your girls lost. Not a bad result against a quality team, although disappointing. Aren't they the defending regional champions? How were field conditions and weather? Will they be able to continue to play games today?

Mike, 2-0 loss to Florida, in a game in which they were already through.
Quarters are set, and I'd like to think that SC has made progress this year, with 5 teams advancing, but others may know more.
CESA 91 Girls meet the Dallas Texans (N Texas) at 9:00 am CESA 91 Boys meet Solar (N Texas) at 7:00 am DSC 90 Boys meet CASL (NC) at 11:00 am CESA 90 Boys meet the Houstonians (S Texas) at 11:00 am Bridge 88 Boys meet West Pines United (Florida) at 3:00 pm
SC Girls combined for a 4-8-3 record with GD of -7 SC Boys combined for a 7-7-7 record with GD of +1
Three SC teams were undefeated in group play, CESA 92 Boys, CESA 90 Boys, Bridge 88 Boys.
The teams combined for 9 one goal losses, 3 two goal losses and 3 losses of 3 or more goals.
The teams combined for 6 one goal wins, 3 two goal wins, and 2 wins of 3 or more goals.
We can all be proud of how the teams have represented the state of SC.

CESA U18G tied G'boro 0-0—
The team played in a tough bracket with the last two region champs (Texans and G'boro)—Allowed only one goal in three regional matches—but failed to put a ball in the net—
This has been a strong and wonderful group that has made CESA and SC proud in premier and region play for a few years now—A very fine defensive team for the past two years—
The group will be missed—Hope all involved happy experiences in college and high school next year—both in and out of soccer!

I think that is it for the South Carolina teams. Except Bridge may have been postponed because of weather since their score is not up. Hopefully they are playing tomorrow cause they should have a great chance against Florida. Good amount of teams in the quarter finals for South Carolina, most of them only lost by a goal too. It seemed we were competitive in most all the matches even against the defending regional and national champs. Most impressive team had to be Cesa 90 Premier. Advancing out of a group with THREE North Texas teams; that is ridiculous. They have the talent to bring home a regional championship in the upcoming years. Bridge was also great. Wasn't sure what to expect but finishing first in the group, regardless of how hard the draw, is a great accomplishment. Congrats to all the teams that advance and to all SC who played close, hard fought matches and represented SC well. South Carolina did great.

Bridge finished up a good regionals for SC with a 2-0 loss to Florida. It was a good game. The match kicked off at about 9:00. Unfortunately a Bridge player was injured very late in the match, probably 2 minutes or less. Something with the knee.

I believe some SC teams made it to quarters, but no further. If you have never been to regionals or seen this level of soccer it may be easy to say that no SC team "won anything," but look at the scoreboard for regionals and nationals. MANY 1-0 matches, many teams virtually identical.
Teams had to play Sat and Sun for 25-min halves—no full matches. Often on soaked, flooded fields with high sod. A few were moved to some nice turf fields. But regionals were survival events this year. SC teams who were there were already winners, right?
For example, in U18G, the past two regional champs were Greensboro and Dallas. Greensboro finished last in pool play and did not advance, and Dallas (most recent champ) fell in quarters (advancing to quarters by 1-0, 1-0, 0-0). "Winning" at regionals is a razor thin event.

It is tough at Regionals. It reminds of how rare it was for the MPSC ICE to advance to regional semi's twice and regional finals once. At the time the finals was a first, but quickly equaled by Golden Strip U-18 team.

The Columbia United U16 Girls finished 1-2 in pool play. Lost to FL 1-0. Beat MS 1-0. Lost 3-0 to Sting Royal TX, (one of the 3 was an own goal). I think this was a good showing for their 1st trip to the regionals.
Tomorrow...is too late.

S2,
what an amazing run at regional the ice had and it was before the mega merger/premier club era in sc. was the ice roster made up of girls from the charleston/low country area or did they have players from the midlands/upstate?

The Ice was primarily composed of Mount Pleasant based girls, though they periodically had 1-3 girls from Columbia or so who would play for the team. One season it was a set of twins from Columbia and I believe that later on, Sara Jane Harris (I think...was from further upstate, but I'm not sure on that). At any rate, most of the Ice ended up playing for either Wando or Bishop England in high school too.

The kitten knows her stuff. Of the 16 on roster their final year, probably 10 of them had been together in Mt Pleasant since they were U-11. Each yr 1 or 2 kids from another club would elect to play with them usually because their old age group team dissolved. It was something to be proud of to have the team be basically home grown.
