COLUMBIA, SC - Byron Quinatoa, a 2009 graduate of Dreher High School and previously an Assistant Coach with the Blue Devils under Coach Jamie McClendon, has been hired as the DHS Boys Soccer Coach. McClendon has moved onto Dutch Fork HS where he is now an Assistant Principal.

Quinatoa was a four-year letterman at Dreher from 2006-09 and earned All-State honors with the Blue Devils. He played collegiately at Presbyterian College in Clinton, S.C.

A native of Ecuador, Quinatoa has been a resident of the Midlands for most of his life and is a Program Coordinator with the South Carolina Department of Administration's Program Management Office. In addition to those professional duties, the 30-year old runs Total Futbol Training which provides skill work for youth soccer players in a 1-on-1 or small group setting.

Dreher won the 2019 Class 4A State Championship and has been a power in the Palmetto State for the better part of its entire 50+ year soccer history and won Class 3A Lower State titles in 1999 and 2006. The Blue Devils won the Class 3A/2A/1A Lower State Championship in 1992 and played for the Open State Championship in 1970-71 which was the first year of the Pre-Sanctioned Open Championship formats (1971-75) before the South Carolina High School League recognized an Open State Champion during four seasons from 1975-76 through 1978-79.
