A couple of observations from Saturday:
1. Boy's AAAAA game started 3 hours behind schedule.....3 of the 4 previous games that day went to OT.....2 of those went through 30 minutes of OT followed by Spot Kicks. Add in Award Ceremonies, AAAAA Game and Ceremonies ended after Midnight.....Perhaps SCHSL should consider 2 Venues.....

2. Clock Operation: This was the only game all season where the Scoreboard Clock was the Official Time.....Several Times the clock did not stop and start correctly as indicated by the Center Referee.

3. Both AAAAA Games extremely well officiated. Straight Red in Girls Game.....officials handled a potential powder keg situation perfectly.

My $0.02 worth:

*** If the SCHSL wants to stage a "Weekend of Champions", then it needs to be with a schedule of THU-FRI-SAT or FRI-SAT-SUN. Trying to fit nine matches into a reasonable time frame excluding morning times is ridiculous! When almost half of the contests require extra time, then that has to be considered at this stage of the season. If you want four games on Friday then start at 12-2:30-5-7:30 and move accordingly. On Saturday the matches could begin at 9:30-12-2:30-5-7:30. However, a three-day event would be more feasible - and equitable - for all involved.

*** Irmo High School has provided the venue the past two years and it's been a fine experience, but with the updated venues in the Midlands and other entities willing to be involved the experience could be much better for the participating fans and teams - i.e., sideline benches; spectator parking; sound system; concession stand space/lines; field turf (wear/tear) patches; etc.
