Concession Stands Sign Up for SCHSL State Championships

HS Coach - Your assistance is needed in manning the concession stands at the SCHSL State Championships May 10-11 at Irmo HS. We need at least 10 volunteers (5 in each canteen) for each match. All proceeds from the concession stands goes directly to the SCHSSCA and our two summer all-star games: North South Soccer Classic and the Clash of the Carolinas.

If you would like your Varsity/JV or club team to fill a time slot, that is permissible as well as long as an adult is present in the canteen with them.

The SCHSL has asked us to have representatives from the SCHSSCA to present commemorative soccer balls to the head coaches after the games.

Also, the NFHS Network is looking for coaches to serve as commentators for the games.

If you would like to present the game ball or serve as a commentator, please let me know which game via email at kheise@grayca.com.

Josh Eskew (commentary)
Eric Navarro (commentary)
Robb Sloan (either)

Class 3A Boys - Eric Navarro
Class 4A Girls - Eric Navarro
Class 5A Boys - Josh Eskew & Graham Stafford

If you could choose any soccer ball to play with endorses by the NFHS, what would it be? Model and make? Cost? This would be in lieu of the Rawlings ball used the last several years by the SCHSL.

Congratulations to all State Champions and Finalists on a tremendous 2019 campaign!

That's a tough question. For example we really like the balls that we used this year, Adidas NFHS MLS Competition Ball($40). However in cold weather I don't think they have quite the feel that they should have. Nearly perfect in warm weather. Also much more durable than some balls. We have used the Brine Championship in the past and liked those.

I'm not sure I have a perfect ball that plays well Wet or dry, hot or cold, hold air, and durable that is not also a three-digit price.

Still waiting on a final tally from the concession stand profits for the SCHSL State Championships, but it looks like we will clear $5K! Thanks to all of our volunteers that worked this past weekend and the programs that made in-kind donations. Proceeds will go directly to the summer all-star games.

Also, make sure to weigh in on the choice of YOUR favorite soccer ball. The SCHSL is now finished with the Rawlings contract and would like our feedback moving forward -- i.e. don't complain about what they pick if we don't exercise our voice now.

I have always used Nike balls, and never had an issue. Any of the NFHS balls will work.
Does the High school league have to sign a contract for a game ball to be used in the playoffs? Is there some sort of financial benefit?
Are they going to sign a rawlings contract for baseball and adidas for soccer.....?
So happy that we’re done with those awful Rawlings balls!

I like the Adidas MLS soccer balls as well. We used them this season & was very happy with them. Can never give wrong with the Brine either

Brine, Select, Nike - just needs to be a higher level ball from a reputable soccer source (i.e. NOT Wilson, Rawlings, or Spalding)
