How does Clover look this season?
I've only seen them once....

Athletic, fast, direct. They play quickly...typically thru the middle of the field. Lots of 1 touch passing. Hit a target player who flicks wide to a teammate. Good attackers...best players appear to be uptop.

Region 4 is really competitive this year South Pointe is a really physical team and its horrible having to play there cause you get harrassed by the fans. Spring Valley isn't out of the race yet.
they are sitting at number 5 in the region... they gotta fight to make it to the playoffs. i wouldn't say they are still in the race

Blythewood scored 20 minutes into the game to make it 1-0 off of a corner. Rock Hill scored just before half off a mishandled corner by the Blythewood keeper to make it 1-1. Blythewood scored about 10-15 minutes into the second half to make it 2-1, after the Blythewood forward got mauled in the box. Then a mishandled clear in the back lead to a break-away for one of the Rock Hill forwards leading to a goal making it 2-2. No teams scored in overtime and Blythewood wins in pk's 5-4. I would say possesion was 60% to 40% in Blythewood's favor, Rock Hill never had the lead and was pretty much playing catch up the whole game. Both teams will do good this season it was a great game to watch.

Coach, definitely a great win for your team and school! How can you allow BE with their “proud tradition” of soccer slam another school that is in their first year and playing with only freshmen and sophomores? I didn’t see the game, but “assume” you changed your line up during the game. I understand players wanting to show what they can do when given the opportunity, playing for more playing time. Players play and coaches coach. As a coach, you should know that there comes a time when you control and pass the ball instead of putting it in the net. That’s why this is addressed to the coach and not the players. If Cane Bay had juniors and seniors on the team it would still be ugly, but come on. Full disclosure – I don’t know of anyone associated with the school you tried to embarrass. Nor do I have a child playing high school soccer. Straight up, you need to reevaluate your priorities. Also, I suggest that you read or reread your schools Mission Statement. It has words such as faith community, mutual respect and charity. I love and respect the beautiful game and your 18 - 0 game against ( basically a JV team) is an insult to our sport. Just my opinion.

Id say possesion was about 60% Chapin 40% Ridge View, Chapin may have had a few more looks on goal they were definatly better looks but who can deny a good keeper for Ridge View who made a few excellent saves to keep it tied. Both teams played well for the conditions and as for the poor officiating i think the officiating was good it never got out of hand really. A fight almost broke out between the two teams which really ruined the game in my opinion, but other than that was a run game to watch.

Paradox, I don't know the Bishop England coach, but as someone who became a coach pretty recently, and who did not see the game either, I want to encourage you not to leap to conclusions. In my opinion the very hardest games to coach are the ones where your team is much better than the opponent (rarely my problem). When your team is weaker you can pack it in and tell them to play their hearts out, but in games where they are much, much stronger it can be tough. It's hard to instruct players to try NOT to score, and as a player who's been on the receiving end of some lopsided losses I think it is even more insulting when the other team tries not to score. Some teams have the luxury of putting in reserves who will keep the score close even if they give 100%, but a team like Bishop England may not have any players on the bench who couldn't vastly outscore the opponent. Additionally, while 18-0 is ugly most games that get scores like that could be far, far worse, and often a result like 18-0 could have easily in the 40s to 0. Bishop England's coach may well realize in retrospect that there were ways he could have kept the score closer without being disrespectful to his opponent, and maybe not, but regardless when you coach a strong team that is often not an easy balance to strike. Just my thoughts, and I appreciate your perspective, too.

As far as RNE's game against Aiken it was a hard-fought game and Aiken played with a lot of heart and determination. They are one of the strongest, most physical sides we have played. However, I feel the need to point out that there was not a "deck" of cards given to both teams. One of my defenders received a yellow card for shoving a player after the whistle who slide tackled him with cleats up and caused about a 5 inch by 3 inch deep bruise on his shin, through and beside his shin guard, but that was the only card RNE received.
aas the score shows bluffton has a very strong team. good luck coach cook for the rest of the year

Knowing Bishop England coach's ways he doesnt give a rat&$$ either way. He has no control of his team. They do their own thing. Not much coaching going on at Daniel Island. Not just coaching but overall respect. "Just roll the ball out there with your recruited team and play." Money is a hell of a drug.

It was an extremely well played and aggressive match until (a very frustrated) Joey Demare let a kick out on the RV keeper when he had possession of the ball. I am a referee and in my opinion, he should have recieved AT LEAST a yellow. However, he had already had one yellow during the game and I think the ref was afraid to throw the second. A kick to the keeper with no consequences always sends the game into overly aggresive dangerous play. This was proven as BOTH sides stepped up the agression exponentially. As for the "fight," I think that was frustration from both teams coming out and I'm commend both teams for not throwing a punch. It was more of a flare up of tempers and the referees handled it with two red cards on both sides. I wouldn't necessarily say it "ruined" the game... Tempers flared, they moved on and it was a battle to the finish. Very exciting match to watch, well done to both teams.

Seems like I have seen more and more of these type plays on the keeper in the last several years - but betcha by golly wow you let the keeper come out and take down a forward while (wink wink) going for the ball and the card will fly. Seems the "protection" for dangerous plays on keepers is a thing of the past. I guess it will take somebody getting seriously hurt before the refs clamp back down.

How much more serious do we need to get?????

So...did Joey apologize and hold out his hand after the foul?
hahah, does he ever?
but nah seriously, he didn't. He was too worried on trying to "see what he did wrong".

If you missed the 1st OT period you missed some of the best play of the match. Demare broke loose behind the defense 3 times and the RV keeper stopped him 1V1 each time. RV keep was the best player on the field last night!
rnecoach, you may not know the b.e. coach, but i believe paradox DOES, is familiar with his style, and is acutely aware that he has been involved with soccer for probably 50-60 yrs (give or take a dozen); but maybe feels that a Christian school (and/or the coach for a Christian school) should be held (or more importantly, hold itself) to a higher standard than other programs.

i can't say that i necessarily disagree (if i got that right, paradox - didn't mean to speak for you)

I got to see all the OT i did see that Demare got loose a good number of times which was pretty impressive due to the fact he was being man marked the whole game. RV's keeper definatly was the best player on the field last night for Ridge View i would have to agree. Now to say he was better than Demare is questionable because they play two different positions, but the RV keeper was i would say the best keeper in the match.

Cold and rainy. The boys hearts were not in the game last night. Not sure what happened but that is what is great about the dynamics of soccer, previous matches of who beat who means nothing.....

BRING YOUR GAME OR GO HOME!!!!

Woodruff has an exceptional opportunity this year, I hope that the boys step back from individual focus and see the potential of the team as a whole. If they can do that, they will have a successful season.

Life's journey is not to
arrive at the grave safely
in a well preserved body,
but rather to skid in sideways,
totally worn out, shouting
'...holy smokes ...what a ride!'
The boys had their chances to put that one away. More shots, more corners, more chances... but that is why you play the game. You never know!

RVvsCHAPIN GAME RECAP-

I thought both teams looked good wednesday night. Both fought hard and I think Chapin was unlucky to not come out with a win. Chapin played a very competive match and deserved the win. RV was incredibly pumped for the match as well.

Key Player- CHAPIN-To start off I would say Demare was on fire. He had a man mark on him really tight wherever he went but always found a way to get by him and create a chance. Easy to see RV had a plan for him not to touch the ball but it doesn't always work when you have a player like him you have to worry about. Demare also seems to have gotten a lot stronger on the ball. Haven't seen him in a year play since the move to CESA but looks like he has been hitting the weights.

Key Player- RV-Justin Braddock. Simply won the game for RV stopping Demareon numerous occasions. Also give credit to number 5 on RV looked decent at times. RV has a long way to go before becoming top dogs but they are looking good!

manchester, do you mind giving a summary of the irmo lex game?
irmo dominated from the start, scoring 5 min in. they had numerous other chances, but couldnt finish. then lexington had a few chances during the middle of the 1st half, but couldnt finish either. irmo scored with under 2 min left in the half to go in 2-0 at halftime.

2nd half more of the same, with lexington having more chances up front, but unable to score. irmos 3rd goal came on a corner poorly judged by the keeper and the backpost player.

irmo shouldve scored many more than 3. however, had lexington finished one of theirs in the 1st half, it mightve been interesting.

Will the Socastee vs. SA game be rescheduled?

It would be a long drive for just one game though.

I have to give credit to the ridge view defense for working so hard til the end of the game. The whole team has stepped up and work hard for each other and have formed a brotherhood

irmos 3rd goal came on a corner poorly judged by the keeper and the backpost player.

I heard Acree's corner for the third goal vs Lexington went in directly, deflecting off the upper part of the post. That it was a great shot. Which is correct?
Bad cross or great shot?

Just my opinion.

wow. having fun paradox. you really have no idea what you are talking about do you. Coach Khoury is arguably one of the greatest coaches in South Carolina. Just look at BE's record. Very few coaches truly care about the development of their players as athletes and people as much as him. As for the 19-0 game, BE played with their starters for only about 15 minutes. the rest was the second string players playing a man down. thats not to insult cane bay, who had a huge disadvantage coming in as a new school and not having upperclassmen, but just to show that khoury was in no way arrogantly thrashing a school as you would so love to believe. Obviously some people have a personal vendetta against BE, but that is just as much a tribute to what BE has accomplished as anything else. Just keep the forums about soccer, and before spewing resentful hate at a great coach and school know what you are talking about. good luck in you next game against BE paradox and marcus.
philo youd have to ask acree if he was trying to shoot it. if nobody is on the field, sure, its a great shot off the post. but with an experienced keeper and a defender playing back post, a corner kick should never go in.
While the Rock Hill/Northwestern game was postponed, the South Point/Fort Mill game was played at noon today at Manchester Soccer Complex.
It rained for the entire match.

South Pointe 4
Fort Mill 2

Fort Mill had a player receive a straight red just prior to half time. South Pointe had a player receive a straight red just prior to the end of the match.
a region 5 team will make it to state this year
bc, south aikin, or airport
itll be one of them
Who was sent off for each team and what was the reason for each (Fort Mill/South Pointe)? Could affect both teams in their region play over the next week.
I believe it was just a great shot philo, not a bad cross. That is the second he has made this year directly off of a corner like that.
Anyone know the score of the Wando/Parkview game? Or the BE/James Island game?
Wando 1, Parkview 1 after two overtime periods. I was told that Georgia doesn't do kicks from the mark so the game ended as a tie.
Barnwell vs Wade Hampton

Game called with ten minutes left in the first half. Barnwell up 1-0. No make up date decided on yet.
While I was not personally at this match, it is my understanding that both red cards were issued for the same reason. Both FM and SP had defenders that were the "last man" and committed the fouls. There was nothing else beyond that. Neither card was issued for dissent or for being violent in nature.
Whether cross of shot, it can't be bad if it ends up in the net.
Fort D 5 - Goose Creek 1
I dont understand the new 4A rankings by the way, how is Stratford above Fort after Fort D decisively beat them 3-0? Doesnt make much sense to me.
acree's goal against lexington was by all means a bad cross that with the help of the wind and a crowded box full of little boys shoving each other went in off the back post. irmo had there chances to score many more, however lexington hit the post at least 3 times and had irmo on their heels for many parts of the game. lexington had a slow start and let irmo get an early goal. irmo looks good and will be a tough team to beat

Lexington hit the post once the entire match.
