The Woodruff boys did win, however, there seems to be a loss of heart....the score should have been more like 6 or 8 to 0....

The Woodruff team this year has the "potential" to be phenominal. The problem is that "potential energy" is the stored energy that has the potential to do work. If Woodruff could get past potential and convert to kinetic they would be something to be reckoned with.

in a well preserved body,
but rather to skid in sideways,
totally worn out, shouting
'...holy smokes ...what a ride!'

Ask their competition, these boys already are "something to be reckoned with"

Give the boys more time. Their shot count is 5x - 10x that of the competition. They are showing some solid fundamentals and learning to play from a more structured set rather than just being the old "run and gun" team of the past. Woodruff has always shown itself to be athletic, but I've seen flashes of brilliance this year that I haven't seen from their boys before. Quite simply the best looking boys soccer I've seen played at this school.

Let's hope the boys continue to believe in this style of play, stay the course and don't fall back into old, bad habits. It's gonna be hard - not easy to change - especially on days when the net just seems to have a lid on it. Hang in there boys and keep at it!!

Very good soccer played by these two schools tonight. Two years ago I never would have believed a game between these two teams would look like this. Woodruff dominated most of the game, but again had trouble scoring. Congratulations to the Woodruff boys on the win and the chapman boys on a game well played. This game had basically the same outcome as the first scrimmage, but a lot better and more enjoyable soccer to watch by both teams. Good luck to these teams this season.
@ Battery Creek

Battery Creek 3-2 Hardeeville

Very fun game in the first half and towards the end. Hardeeville scored first on a PK and the second goal was the classic "olympic goal". Battery Creek's three goals came form defensive lapses, and second half was played midfield with Hardeeville attacking towards the end of the match

I agree on the Woodruff game. Well played by both teams. Exceptional improvement regarding ball movement by Woodruff. That is the team that I was missing from the Broome match.

Increased communication and filling the voids to open the field up would take them to the next level.....

By the way did anyone else think that the Chapman field is too small?

Excellent play.....

We appreciate having South Carolina's top ref at the game as a spectator, thanks Jack.

The Emerald Greenwood game was a very phsyical one. Greenwood was not playing the ball but more worried about tackling the players. They got lucky that they weren't given more cards. The score could've been 2-0 if the ref had of given Emerald more free kicks. Jr. Mid-fielder Hunter Riddle from EHS has some stellar free kicks and can place the ball very well. Emerald is very lucky to have him this year, definitely one of the hardest workers on that team. Also, Emerald keeper had an awesome game.
