Another well played game by the Woodruff boys. As the season rolls on, they fine tune and adjust accordingly. I hope that they continue to improve and step up the class of play they are capable of.

Looking forward to tonights game.......
Have seen the Woodruff boys play several times. They can play the game the right way. Sometimes they get carried away, and do some overly aggresive things that make them chase the ball a little. 10-2, should be getting ranked soon.

They will not give up a bunch of goals, very good defense structure.

Looking forward to the next several matches...
No disrespect Papa but the 2 losses were at the hands(feet) of the only two winning teams on their schedule. Not sure the competition is up to where this team can get it done against tougher competition. I know the kids don't make the schedule but.....

2A- UR- Woodruff 2 (4-3 in pk's)
4A- #13- Laurens 1

Both teams came to play tonight despite injuries hurting both teams. Very back and forth match with high energy. Woodruff scored with 9 min to go in regulation to go up 1-0. Laurens tied the game with 30 seconds left to go. After 2 exciting OT's the game had to be decided in pk's Woodruff $ x $ $ $ on their pk's Laurens (shot first) x $ x $ $ on theirs. Surprised that all 10 pk's were on target and both goalies made good saves. Congratulations to Woodruff on upsetting a ranked 4A team. maybe papa was right... they are a good team closing on a ranking???

I don't necessarily disagree with you about the tougher competition problem they will be facing in the upcoming brackets....I will say that this teams potential is there and they CAN handle the upcoming games that they will face despite their coaches generally negative demeanor.

I would venture to say that this is the best team that has stepped on the field when it comes to Woodruff HS Boys Varsity Soccer!!

The win last night versus an 8-1 AAAA ranked team (plus the 11-2 record 28 gf, and 8 ga), should partly, slightly, maybe, possibly validate the BOYS and what the coach is trying to do.

The team has a great coach. He wants them to play the right way, and his "generally negative demeanor" can be corrected. It is really simple, the boys need to play soccer his way. Bobby Knight always had a great demeanor. Roy never yells at his boys. Dean Smith was the only man to hold Michael Jordan under 20 points per game. I can go on and on... :

I would agree this is the best boys team Woodruff has had, amazing, the coach may have been involved in that.

anyone else have an issue with the top player in the state still in the game up 4-1 with 20 min left? if not, what about up 5-1 with 10 left?

all it takes is one cheap tackle
I agree, there comes a time when you give some of your bench players a chance to play. I know FM is a good team and could possibly come back, but it's not like Enzo is the only good player on that NHS roster. But up 4 goals with 10 left, I think you give someone else a shot.
Woah Woah CLOVER CALL THE DOGS OFF!! Grats on a win over Rock Hill a team that was on a role lately!

Itsjustagame it is the coaches call, cant hate him for not taking him out. If Enzo wanted out im sure he would have told the coach and he would have taken Enzo out, He loves the sport therefore he doesnt want the coach to take him out. Just my opinion...
what player wants to be taken out of a game? I think that's why the coach should. Just my take on it though.

definitely not faulting enzo in this case. i personally wouldnt risk getting the best player in the state hurt when im up 4 with 10 min left, but there may be other reasons there that i dont know about.
Any update/stats on that rock hill clover game? good win by clover.

Im sure for the Northwestern coach it would prolly be an easier decision if Enzo was a junoir or sophmore but hes a senoir and itll be his last time playing these teams i think the coach wants him to have no regrets his senoir year.

In the Eastside Mann game Devon Dorn scored a nice goal early on and then play seemed even throughout the entire game. Mann had some good chances off some free kicks and corners. All around was not an impressive game from either team. A lot of long balls and not much possession by either team. Hope to see these two teams in the playoffs.

And does anyone know what the tie-breaker for region title is since Mann beat Eastside 3-0 the first game but then lost 1-0 and they have same region record does man earn the number one spot on aggregate?

Yes a very even game. I think the most frustrating thing for SC would be the simple fact that this is NOT the Woodruff team they are used to domonating! As for Woodruff I agree that their inabiltiy to finish is their demise when it comes to a team of SC's caliber.

Pressure early, pressure hard and tie up their "triangle" play and it could have been a great game.

SC seems to ride the fence (mostly on the wrong side) when it comes to fouling, they just were caught a few more times last night than usual. Overall SC plays dirty as opposed to good clean soccer. It is on both sides but SC wins the "I'm a dirty player" trophy!

I believe each region has thier own constitution to go by. But most is a straight head to head goal differential. It would appear that Mann has the edge as the goals are in favor of Mann 3-1.
If the teams were tied on goals, I think it then goes to goals against in conference play. Then goals for, then a common opponent, and finally a flip of the coin! I remember watching them flip a coin several years ago at Greenville! I am not certain on the teams, but i think it was Greenville, Eastside, & JL Mann for 2nd-4th place in the region (Riverside had clinched the region). Almost a shame that the region was determined by that. But it just states how strong of a contest that region was!

How is Clover #15 and Rock Hill #13 without Blythewood being #14 Blythewood beat Clover and barely lost to Rock Hill in pk's having a goal called back early in the game that could have won it for them? Carolina forest lost to a South florence team? How are they still ranked.
kid-I wouldn't worry about rankings, they are just a number.
