How is the seed determined? Is it an overall record or is it region record only and then goals for goals against??

Who will face off in the 2A state championship this year?
Posted By: High Flyer Re: 2A playoffs - 05/01/09 03:38 AM
Of course Bishop England will take the lower state. Waccamaw is the only team close to their calbier, but I don't see them as good enough to beat Bishop England.

In the upper state you have the top contenders Batesburg-Leesville, Wahalla, and Emerald. Gilbert, Andrew Jackson, and Woodruff are very good teams that might score a big upset in the Upper State play-offs. I personally think the upper state will be decided on what team shows up to play on certain days.

LOTS-
Playoff seeds are determined by a committee who looks at overall record, strength of schedule and head to head competition. The rankings are not used, tournament games are not used, and any game that goes into PK's is considered a tie.

Thanks......that sounds kind of rocket sciency .....almost impossible to predict. Determining strength of schdule and other perspectives may be just that a perspective. Thanks for answering.

Has anyone else looked at the 2A brackets? The 1st through 4th seeds will play one another before the quarter finals. This is contradictory to the past brackets and I am not sure why the seeds were established this way? Seems awkward doesn't it?

Haven't checked it this year but I think there was the same problem last year. It's just a misprint. The brackets will look like this:

1
16

8
9

4
13

5
12

2
15

7
10

6
11

3

I can see waccamaw giving BE some problems for the lower state
Posted By: High Flyer Re: 2A playoffs - 05/07/09 02:44 AM
Does anyone know when the seeds will be posted?
Posted By: CoachA Re: 2A playoffs - 05/07/09 03:04 AM
The meeting is on Friday at 10. Look for the seeds in the early afternoon.

in the upper state Batesburg-Leesville have really proved themselves this year and are a favorite and my personal pick to go all the way to the finals in 2A. Bishop England like always will be a top contender for the state championship. i have seen Batesburg-Leesville perform and they are a top competitor
Posted By: soccertennis Re: 2A playoffs - 05/07/09 05:49 PM
Batesburg is a good team but they haven't played the schedule Wahalla and Emerald has played.I think that may pay off for Emerald and Wahalla when it comes to Play-offs. It will be good to see how Batesburg does against south Aiken tonight.
Posted By: crossbar Re: 2A playoffs - 05/08/09 02:28 PM
South Aiken beat Batesburg Leesville 2-0. B&L received a red card and i also heard from a few sources the reffing was a bit against the panthers. i do agree that Batesburgs schedule has not been quite as difficult as Walhalla's but losing last night should take them down a notch which will be beneficial for when playoffs begin

Looks like the brackets are out. I see no upsets in lower state whatsoever. In fact it looks rather weak, and all top seeds should advance with no problems.

Batesburg, Walhalla, Bishop England, and Waccamaw. Wow there really will be no surprises. Batesburg or Walhalla in the finals against Bishop England??
Posted By: Notsofastfriend Re: 2A playoffs - 05/09/09 02:52 PM
Walhalla vs BE

BE takes it home...again

^^^^

Looks like it........

I would love to see another BE v. Emerald match in state this year, but Emerald has to work harder this year to get there then in previous years. Emerald v. BL in upperstate finals would be a great game to watch.
Posted By: High Flyer Re: 2A playoffs - 05/10/09 12:06 AM
I think everybody is counting out the underdogs to quickly. I won't be to surprised if neither Emerald nor BL is in the upperstate finals.

Week 10 Rankings after the regular season:

1 Bishop England
2 Batesburg-Leesville
3 Waccamaw
4 Emerald
5 Walhalla
6 Ashley Ridge
7 Gilbert
8 Barnwell
9 Dillon
10 Woodruff

Great job in joining the ranks Woodruff. We deserved after the hard work during the regular season. Do not take your eyes of the path your on.......good things ahead...
Posted By: LOTS_1 Re: 2A playoffs - 05/11/09 04:47 PM
Let me correct....We deserved to well deserved.....typo ya know.
Posted By: High Flyer Re: 2A playoffs - 05/12/09 03:08 AM
Upper State:
I think the top 8 seeded teams will win their matches in the first round. I also won't be surprised if at least 3 of the top 4 teams get upset in the second round. Should be an exciting play off after the 1st round.
Posted By: SharksFutbol Re: 2A playoffs - 05/12/09 05:17 PM
Alright here are my predictions for tonight's games:

Southside 3:1 Newberry
Andrew Jackson 5:0 Mid-Carolina
Walhalla 5:0 Eau Claire
Gilbert 7:0 Abbeville
Woodruff 3:2 Strom Thurmond
Palmetto 3:0 Pendleton

Lower State:
Silver Bluff 4:2 Marion
Hanahan 5:0 Aynor
Ashley Ridge 6:0 Andrews
Dillon 5:1 Burke
