Rainy weather this evening, Woodruff did not play the game they are capable of. Hopefully they will play to potential with the upcoming brackets for upper state.

All bets are off unless they come to play soccer the way they know how.....with the competition ahead of them they can certainly win. It will depend on who actually shows up to play that night.

They are the underdog and could certainly make the cut if they show up for EVERY game ready to play....

Half 5-0

Wren 0
Hanna 1

Wren puts in own goal and Hanna plays outstanding defense to protect the lead. Great job by the Yellowjacket team, they played with passion and deserved the win.
LOTS I could not agree more. The woodruff boys were very dominant, but they didn't look pumped up for their rivalry game. Not sure if it was the rain or the thought they would easily take Broome, but the boys need to play better then that if they want to win any games in the play-offs. The boys finished 15-3 and undefeated in Region II.

There's no way in hades that NW should beat RH by twelve. Even if you have to play a defensive minded game, which is exactly what your first priority should be against NW. What the heck happened here? 3 goals in the first 3 minutes of the 2nd half. Did RH just give up?
Looks like Rock Hill blew up from the 24' til the 33' giving up 4 goals in 10 minutes. Also notice the 3 goals in 3 minutes in the beginning of the second half. Looks like they were beaten up all game long.
If Rock Hill wins a couple games in the state play-offs (and they are certainly capable of doing this), then Irmo fans should be getting very nervous.

Hurst,
I think that if Irmo and NW aren't nervous about playing each other, they are both in denial. Both teams are the standouts in the state, and as we all know, great teams can put it together to win, or can have an off game and lose. If either team were to go into the game expecting a win, they would be very stupid. If this game were to happen, I would expect a battle until the last whistle.

Soccerboy,

There is no doubt in my mind that both teams have great respect for eachother and both would approach the final with caution. My post was directed to some of the Irmo fans on these boards who are licking and their chops and just can't wait until their Yellow Jackets get a piece of NW.
Hope after all this buildup that THE GAME happens! The SCHSL will get my $8. Hope neither team looks ahead to far as their could be a few surprises.

Also hope if THE GAME happens it's not like a lot of Super Bowls and can't live up to the hype. You know how those go -the divisonal championship game is almost always better than the Super Bowl itself.

It's easy to see how the officials could impact the outcome of an 8-0 game.
I think every soccer lover in the state would pay to see the IRMO V nW Match

Ouch tough loss for Wren, I would say its for the best it'll keep the Wren players more humble heading into play-off's for a potential run. Keep your head's up upsets happen to good teams all the time.

rogue, region 7 will be Goose Creek and region 8 will be Fort D
Last night (May 5)

York 4
Nation Ford 3

Game ends in a 3-3- draw, scoreless OT, York wins on PK's.

Second half played in a driving rainstorm. NF leads 3-2 with about 5 minutes left, referee awards a direct kick on York just outside of box that they convert to tie game. Field pretty much unplayable at end with standing water everywhere and neither team able to dribble or short pass.

Only one of those two will make the playoffs. Either Goose Creek or Fort Dorchester. Region 5 gets 5 teams. Trying to find out how those two regions will decide which one will go.
wino, you sure about the fort d thing? right now, beaufort and fort have identical records, with one conference match remaining each. they split head-to-head, the score of both matches being 3-1. what is the next tie-breaker, goals allowed?

and rogue, are you sure about the region 5 thing, or is it that the two playoff spots are divided between the three teams, and the best two (however that is determined) go forward? are you saying that region 5 is guaranteed 5 spots, it's just a matter of whether they take region 7 or region 8's 4th place spot?
Bluffton vs. HHHS

Irmo 8 RNE 0
Region 7 & 8 will decide which 4th place team will make play-offs, only 1 can go and the other spot goes to region 5. As for tie breaker b/w Beaufort and FD, it is Head to head, then how they did in Region, That means Beaufort will get 3rd , due to the win over West Ashley and FD lost to WA both times. Now it is b/w Fort D and Goose Creek, First Tie breaker is Head to Head,Fort Goes to IRMO, Akin at Carolina Forest.

The Northwestern-Wren match was an amazing atmosphere. The weather was absolutely perfect, the crowd was awesome, and both teams played with their best efforts. In no way am I saying any more than this, but Wren had 2 legitimate shots that could have made it interesting. It was a pure privilege to watch soccer played at this level. Best of luck to both teams in the playoffs. Everybody got what they came to see plus some.
