When was the last time Ridgeland made the playoffs?
Ummm........last year. Since I don't work with Ridgeland this year, then your attempt at a personal attack is moot. Now, as a fan of the game, I support all teams in our area. Whether Ridgeland has made the playoffs does not change the fact that region 8-AAA was not even able to score, much less get a win, as of the scores posted.........
BTW, I dunno why you took it personal, but hey, there's always next year..........

Pretty one sided match with Thurmond getting some good chances. Not the best game Woodruff has played, but a win is a win. Number 10 for Thurmond is a very good player, he told one of our players he never played club, but he should have.

Weird game. NF had run of play for 3/4 of game and trailed 1-nil at half and 2-nil until maybe 15 minutes left when SV put 2 away quick. NF couldn't finish a thing....and SV finished just about everything they had.

Great match, exactly the type you want for play-off game. 1-1 at half. The fans definately got thier money worth! Seneca is definately a class program. Congrats to Coach English in his first year at the helm with the Bobcats!
Refs were so excited for the match to begin that they showed up at 5:30 for a 7:00 match! (little miscommunication)

Holy Crap!
Not to mention no goals scored against region V teams in the first round.
Sorry Philly, but Jaguar is right - not a good year for 8-AAA. Hilton Head could not score all season and definitely proved tonight that even easy opportunities could not cure that weakness. I didn't see the Bluffton match, but I suspect that a soft season doesn't prepare a team for the pressure of post-season play.
Anyone care to recap the Bluffton/Dreher match?

110 minutes of GAMETIME! Great game by both sides, Fort Mill went up early and Blythewood answered early in the second half. Blythewood lacking a little bit of depth after a starting Midfielder was red carded in the Airport game, the boys left it all on the field and thats all you can ask for. Good Luck to Fort Mill who has a very strong side heading up to Wren? It will be an interesting game. Once again thanks to the seniors for Blythewood this year some of them varsity ever since the school was open, you've started a great winning tradition here at Blythewood High School good luck to all in thier future plans. Great Year boys.

Lot of effort on both sides! One sloppy defensive series for FMHS allowed a well placed shot to score for Blythewood.
Other than that FMHS controlled the game most of the time and just could not get the "luck" they needed to push another one in. Give credit to BHS d for bending but not breaking over and over and over. Both team showed a lot of heart in the extra times but FMHS could not will the ball in till the PK's. The two blocks by FMHS goalie were excellent, both were good shots stopped by outstanding effort. I am still not sure how he got his hand on the first block???? The shot was very hard and yet he batted it away, would have made a high light real if ESPN was filming!
As for the REFS the calls were a little one sided (I guess all fans feel that way about refs, but really they missed alot!), but to lose track of PK's well that seems to be really unexcusable. Look at your card, you are writing it down. Right????
He is pretty good. I play for bamberg red raiders and we played them and he was their key player. They won the first game but we played them and beat them the second time. I had to match up on him and it was a good fight. He plays a important role on that soccer team.

Yeah the Ref's ehhhh. Its kind of bad when you cant keep up with the PK count and you go ahead and tell Fort Mill they won the game when they didnt there students storm the field just to be told the game is not over. They must not have been very good math students in high school.
Chief,
Blythewood's goal may have come from a "sloppy defensive series" but Fort Mill's goal was a pure gift from a communication break down on the part of the Bengals defense.
Fort Mill's keeper was excellent, but I don't remember him getting a hand on Blythewood's last PK?
Hurst if he got a hand on the last PK he would be one of the best keepers ive seen in a long time.
Both Blythewood's missed PK's were shots hit over the crossbar i don't believe the Fort Mill keeper blocked one. Yes the goal Fort Mill scored was on a miscommunication between the goalie and outside back, dont get me wrong great job to #5 for being there to take advantage of the mishandled ball. The Blythewood goal was due to FM not marking up well enough in the box they let one man free and the ball drops right at his feet and he finishes, both goals were mental errors that could have been avoided.
And IMPORT about that "Herald" story, Bend-but-dont-break HEY it works.
socastee won pretty handidly as the paper reported; can not remember the score..belair and watson scored a few times...
wade hampton won 1-0; loris player got red card 10 mins. left in the game; reports from the loris boys is that gk had about 30 saves and they were right at him, i don't know how many more shots were taken that were not on goal; loris had 6 shots..loris boys said they were quick
a good result for loris and our region!!

Totally agree that Blythewood gave FMHS the goal, in fact #5 (Chris) had to walk the ball in because I think he was so stunned/excited he did not want to blow such an easy goal. As for the block it was so fast I could not clearly see it from the stands but I was basing my thought on the fact that the ball clearly popped up and then over the goal and back I could have sworn that the shot looked good but if you had a better view I would defer as I was missing some every 1/2 second or so to rapid heartbeat causing my vision to blur!!!!! , (it was not the last PK I thought he blocked it was the second shot, which was the first they missed).
How about the FMHS goalie "guessing" right on every single shot in PKs? He did not get to two of them beacuse they were such well place shots (No goalie stops that first shot, as I think it would have had paint on it if the bar had wet paint on it! it was that close to the post.)
How obvious was that.
Did you guys really knock brachville out. If so good luck in the rest of the play-offs.

Dont get me wrong he did a good job. He didn't touch the 2 pk's that missed, i most likely had a better view than you.
Like I said I would defer to your superior vision and location. As a fan my heart might have been interfeering with my brain at that point
My comment was more based on the fact that it "looked" to me like he was guessing/reading (you pick which) right on the shot direction every time. This puts a little extra pressure on the shooters (as does any early miss/block) to try and put ball out of keepers reach making what is a tense shot a little harder. Conversly the Blythewood keeper who did an excellent job all game long (the miscue with the defender was a bad break and I can not fault a keeper if the defender did not listen/support him) seemed to struggle a little more (again maybe my braiin listening to the heart again
) and he got thrown a little on an early shot where he jumped right and the shot went easy (could have been blocked) left. Not tring to blame him as the shooter is on his way to DIV 1 school to play, just saying seeing that has an efect on the following shooter making them feel like they can get a shot by him without trying to scraping the bar.
To be fair I still think BHS's first shot was the best PK of the night!!
five of those in a row and we would have been doomed (or at least on to another round!!)
Good luck to your boys this fall and hopefully we play again next spring! (if not maybe we can meet when the other gender plays in the JV tourney and get this middle school thing settled!
)
