@ Dutch Fork

Dutch Fork - 0

Recap:

Goal #1: Zach Acree I think. Could have been Connor Dunbaker.

Goal #2: Zach Agree blistered a shoulder height volley from the back corner of the six yard box on a beautiful cross from Mike Day from the left corner. It was a tremendous serve and finish!

Goal #3: Matthew Sieverding scored this goal on a corner kick from Zach Acree. Matt timed his run to the near post perfectly for the one time finish with his foot this time instead of his trademark header. Well done Howie!

Goal #4: Sophomore Mathew Freeman continues his stellar play as a right winger with a shot from 25 which took a slight deflection off of a defender to find the right side of the goal.

Goal #5: Billy Padula sent a ball on a rope into the area where Mike Day snapped a header in from five yards.

Goal #6: Sophomore Matt Mantar finshed this goal on what I think was an unassisted effort.

IRMO keeper Rob Sullivan locked down the goal during a first half but dodged a bullet Micheal Klawer struck a 30 yard Free Kick that found the upper left corner of the frame. It was a classic Klawer strike.

During the second half, Stephen Arneson was tested a few times but he also denied Dutch Fork their opportunities.

Kyle Simpson had an excellent game in the middle. In fact, it was one of the best performances I've seen from him.

Joe Bivona looks to be settling into Varsity play nicely as he got forward from his right back position tonight. In doing so, he got off a power shot from 30 yards to the upper right third of the goal only to be denied by the DF keep. His desire to attack was a welcome site, because he is so much more than a holding defender.

IRMO will be tested by a very hungry Chapin side on Thursday. They better not take this second meeting between the two for granted.

IRMO - 2
Chapin - 1

Recap:

As expected, this match was a scrappy game from the whistle.

After both keepers were severely tested during the first 30 minutes Chapin's Colden King served a perfect ball into the area from 60 yards that hit the ground right at the feet of Keeper Rob Sullivan. Sullivan nearly had a handle on it but it got away from him just enough to enable Joey DeMare the split second he needed to get a foot on it for the goal.

Chapin's Chris Ricketson played a great game in the middle disrupting the fluid play IRMO normally generates in the middle. The combined attack of Joey and Dillon really tested the IRMO back line.

After that goal IRMO stepped up their intensity and three minutes later Zach Acree drove corner kick into the box where Mike Day absolutely punished the ball with a great header.

The first half ended tied 1-1.

In the second half both sides continued to trade scoring opportunities, but as is usually the case Wofford bound Billy Padula threw a ball into the box where this time it was the Chapin keeper who nearly got a handle on it on the ground but left just enough room for a poised Connor Dunbaker to find the net.

This match was a battle between two teams of players who have played together at the club level since they were 10 years old. Tempers flared but remained in check.

As is customary for a match-up between these two teams, the student faithful were out in all of their glory creating a great atmosphere. Best of luck to both going forward.

The IRMO standout for me tonight was Presbyterian commit Oliver Nobels. Oliver defended well and played a significant role in the continuos attack IRMO generated throughout the game. He was focused while on the attack and poised when under pressure. Good stuff Oli!

Go get Aiken next boys. One half at a time.
