The next match of day four will pit the Bearcats of Brookland-Cayce against crosstown foe Cardinal Newman. The second semifinal match will send one of these teams to the finals later in the day. What a great day for midland area teams as all three have made it to the semifinals and 2 of them will play for a championship!
Para Siempre Brookland-Cayce Soccer!!!!!!!

This one should be interesting, as it is the second meeting in the past month for these 2 teams, with the Cardinals taking the first match right here on this field. Also of interest is the Cardinal Newman coaching staff, three of the coaches are former players of Brookland-Cayce, of which each played for current BC coach Kevin Heise.
Today the Cardinals will be wearing a maroon-white-black kit, with the Bearcats sporting the white-maroon-white uni's. Cardinal Newman will be attacking the east end of the cage, with the Bearcats taking it to the west side!
and CN will take the ball to start, putting it in play down to the BC box, where BC will recover and pwork the ball into Cardinal territory
right now some back and forth with much of the play happening on the BC side, but now they will get long throw into the box, but not able to manufacture anything from it
Now back on the other end, corner for CN.....and it will be cleared wide and BC will recover to take it the other way, but again nothing and back toward the BC goal
Foul on Cn just across the midline and BC will send the ball into the box where the CN keeper will get up to collect it.
and CN will play a ball into the box from the middle of the field and a poke will put it by the keeper for BC giving CN the first strike of the match at the 7' mark. CN 1-0 BC
and an obvious mistake by the official, as a burly CN defender bodies a smaller BC player to the ground but he gives the call to CN, even after speaking to the CN plaer
BC now getting hot, as they are really working the ball here.
We will now stop for an injury, as the same burly fellow for CN destroys another BC player, this time the call will be made correctly and the CN player will see yellow. and the injured Bearcat is up and walking off on his own accord. Someone will need to get out the laundry detergent quick, because he got pounded into the dirt and that white jersey shows it!
KEEEEEPP WORKING BC!!
Here we are 20' into this one and it is a great match so far. Cardinal Newman still holds the lead.....NO wait, we have a Bearcat goal at 20:03! That will tie ths thing up! The relentless pressure from BC gets a cross into the box and a sloppy clear from the keeper leaves the ball bouncing around in the box where BC is able to finish!
and the Bearcats continue their pursuit, getting off another shot from outside the box, but it will sail high and wide, now another shot for BC, this time much closer! The BC crowd is going crazie!
We are only 25' in, but it feels like they have played and hour. This match is everything a semifinal should be! This match is worth paying the gatekeeper to see!
Great atmosphere here, even as the sky starts to puffin up! Anyone calling for some rain?

I can't stand it.....I'm on my way
I like those odds, means 90%, great weather!
KEEP WORKING BROOKLAND-CAYCE!!
The fast, physical, but clean play from both teams will take us into the half knotted at 1 each. Great half from 2 programs and coaches with great reputations in the soccer community!
Here we are back in action...with CN immediately taking it to BC, corner, cleared over the bar by the keeper, and another corner.
The first 5 minutes here in the second period has CN continuosly knocking on the Bearcat door! Question is, will the Bearcats let them in?
But now BC has decided to get into the offensive action as they are creating opportunities of their own!
Still a lot of back and forth action right now...
A long flip throw from BC will put the ball in the box where it is cleared out for a corner. Cleared out again for another long throw again nothing adn the ball will be moved out all the way to the other end and into the BC keepers hands.
Now we have another injured BC player, as the keeper comes out for the save and sends him to the ground. Now the keeper will help him up and looks like he will be fine
Starting to look like a battlefield with all the BC bodies on the ground! Nothing dirty or cheap, just tough physical soccer!
With 20' left we remain deadlocked at 1.
With the work these teams are putting in here in this semifinal, its a wonder if they will have anything left for a finals match later today. With Lexington winning with such ease earlier they will definatly be much better rested and less beaten up than the team they will face.
Corner, Cardinal Newman....cleared out for another corner......then nothing
8 headers in a row....looks like a seal circus
we are under 5'! Great ball game, will anyone be able to finish this in regulation?
Looks like we might! As the phenom Koty Millard decides to take the ball to the net himself, beating several BC defenders and sending the ball past the BC keeper into the backsid netting! Cardinal Newman 2-1 BC.
this one is just about over with BC doing everthing they can, but that is not enough and there is the whistle as Cardinal Newman is able to pull this one out and put themselves into the championship match this afternoon! BC will finish 3rd in the 2011 Palmetto Cup.

Kudos to both teams, as they provided an excellent showing!
Well, that is dissappointing and Grant will be devastated. A great showing by the Bearcats against what looks like a team of destiny this week. A lot can be taken from this tournament. Thanks for the updates! Hope to see you guys later this afternoon.
So when is the Championship game? I probably won't get into heaven but I wish it would stay at 5p.m.
CRAZIE, thanks for all the live updates on all of the games for those of us that can't make it. Sounds like we are missing some excellent play and effort by all the players. Only bummed Norman couldn't find a way into that Final Four and hats off to all the teams and players! They all will need the weekend ahead to rest their tired, beat up bodies!
Great Job Crazyie.....
Due to Cardinal Newman's observance of Holy Thursday, the Championship match will be held at 3:30pm and the 5th place match will be played after at 5:30.
