Don't let the facts get in the way of your opinion.
One would have to go back quite a few years to see the coastal teams dominating lower state the way the Region V teams have lately.

The excess goals in a game debate has been going on here for years and will probable continue for years to come. Were you at the game? If you were, please point out specifics of bad sportsmanship.
Maybe just to last year- if memory serves me didnt Myrtle Beach win lower state? And will more than likely win it again this year.

20-0, must be some bad blood between B-C and Lakewood. Or this is simply karma coming back on Lakewood for their two 20+ goal wins over Lake City about 5 years ago.

Grow up! I get so tired of hearing people like you on this board! Who cares how many goals were scored? Until SC goes to a mercy rule, stuff like this is going to happen. Where I live now, if a school goes up by 7 goals, the remaining time gets cut in half.
Then go back to where you live-if you knew anything about soccer you would realize that nothing is accomplished by scoring so many goals against a less talented squad-i forgot Illinois is a hotbed for soccer

Someone that has access to all these stats now seems kind of foolish making statements like "I am sure one of the teams from the coast will end your run-like they do every year"
So, did you actually mean every year? Or maybe every other year? Possible every 4th year?
No pretty much every year-and if they dont then an upper state team definitely does-
Quote:

No pretty much every year-and if they dont then an upper state team definitely does-

So Mr. stats, what do you consider "pretty much every year"?
90%, 80%, 60%, 50%...maybe less than 40%?
Statement like this only makes one sound more and more foolish.

You have to assume that there were severe restrictions put in place for scoring. It's not their fault the team couldn't defend.

I agree, it's the playoffs. If you can't play defense and stop someone from scoring not 3, not 4, not 5... but 20 goals, then seriously should've not entered in for the playoffs. If you score 10+ goals on a team, then you should be willing to take the same beating from someone else.

Thanks Bomber, agree totally, many teams in the playoffs could do the same but choose not to.

And Troll I am still trying to see what you dont understand-NO TEAM FROM REGION V HAS EVER CLOSED THE DEAL- that would be 100% not 20,30, 40 etc...so where is the dominance you speak of- 20 goals is great but maybe you should save some for when it counts-win a championship and then you can boast.
Lakewood keeper forgot his gloves...seriously. Not to mention they held an offside trap at midfield. BC put in kids who haven't played a whole lot during the season, or got called up from JV. Try asking them not to try their best. Doesn't sound very fair to me. I will say this, the Lakewood kids kept their heads up and didn't get chippy.

Obviously it won't be that way for the rest of the way through.

I’m a troll. I look for foolish people saying stupid things and I respond. And you Ivrpul are today’s poster child.
You stated “enjoy while it lasts I am sure one of the teams from the coast will end your run-like they do every year”.
But after checking your facts, you probable realize how foolish your statement was and then go on some rant about no lower state team outside of Charleston winning state since 1979, and continue mentioning it throughout other post as if it somehow proves your point.
Well, I’m pretty sure I didn’t ever mention anything about the midland schools dominating the state. It’s quite clear that the upper state owns this. I merely mention that, as of late, Region V has dominated the lower state to show you how foolish your statement was.
However with your line of thinking that Region V must be subpar (since they haven’t won state), what does that say about your coastal teams since the facts really do show that Region V has pretty much dominated them lately?
Remember, facts are our friends. And don’t feed the trolls!
@ Camden

Camden 2 v Dreher 3
WHEN I WAS THERE WE WERE NOT THAT BAD!!!!!
Though none too wild about a 20-0 outcome, I can vouch for plenty of POSSIBLE extenuating circumstances -- including the possibility that the losing team's kids essentially quit. Can only hope that it had nothing to do with "payback" for some real or perceived slight in an earlier game.
Both region V and the beach region are pretty strong top to bottom. I have seen all 8 teams play this season and Myrtle Beach, Socastee, and BC are the top 3 overall in my opinion. I do believe that The beach boys are more athletic than Region V as a whole.

If Region V (BC) wins it this year, they certainly will have earned it but the Myrtle Beach side is strong, fast, dynamic, and organized. It's a toss up in my mind. BC is the best I have ever seen them this year and they work hard and know how to win, but don't sleep on Socastee, they are one of the most organized teams I have seen this year.

It's great to see The State provide such excellent coverage.

I still feel 20-0 is a bit much.

Did they play with players out, did they have to pass 10 times before a shot attempt, did they have to all play with their weaker foot, etc., etc., etc...???
O Bomber. You don't get it. I too am a slow learner and realize now that this site is not for smack talk or discussion of questionable situations. So I made a list of things you can do here:
A) Post scores (although they are in Eurosport.)
B) Post job openings at hard to find schools.
C) Place where coaches can say how hard they played and the game was closer than the 5-1 score. Also congratulate other schools and wish them luck.
D) Read the carefully thought out allstar lists
E) upcoming tournamnents
F) Cesa marketing
G) And keep running count of how many cesa players are at Furman now.
Sort of like a nice reality show. How many of those are you watching.
whatever, much thanks for the "heads up".

Uhh, Furmam, don't you mean CESA West???

Did they rename their Soccer Stadium Hyslop/Tormey Field?

I noticed some construction going on over there. Did they get some of that Greenville County Tax money for the renovations?
Again you have strayed from the list. I will have to ask you save this topic for the editorial section of the Greenville News.

SCISA CLASS 3A BOYS SOCCER: PINEWOOD PREP 1, CARDINAL NEWMAN 0
Panthers shock No. 1 Cardinals
Pinewood Prep hands CN a rare shutoutPinewood Prep hands CN a rare shutout
By JOHN DEVLIN - Special to The State

Cardinal Newman ended Pinewood Prep’s SCISA boys soccer reign as year ago, and the Panthers from Summerville returned the favor on Thursday at George Watson Field.

Pinewood (13-10) pulled off a 1-0, shootout upset of the top-ranked, defending champion Cardinals in the Class 3A semifinals and will take on Lowcountry rival Porter-Gaud in Saturday’s title bout at Stone Stadium.

“It’s not that I didn’t think Pinewood could beat us, but never in a million years did I think that we’d be shut out,” Cardinal Newman coach Will Eudy said.

“I can’t really explain why it happened this way, but it did and it’s tough to take. I feel so bad for these guys, especially the seniors. This isn’t the way we wanted it to end.”

Cardinal Newman, which finished 17-5, came into the match averaging 4.3 goals per game this season and hadn’t been shut out in its 65 previous outings.

The Cardinals controlled the flow during regulation, out-shooting the Panthers 26-7 while earning a 7-1 advantage in corner kick opportunities, but the bottom line was too many off-target shots and brilliant play by Pinewood Prep keeper Ryan Moore.

“We had our chances but we certainly didn’t finish like we’re capable of doing, and (Moore) played great. He won them the game,” Eudy said.

Moore finished with 16 saves, and was equally adept at anticipating Cardinal intentions and repeatedly cut off crossing passes through the box to negate potential scoring chances.

“We knew it was going to be a challenge coming up here and playing Cardinal Newman on this small field, but my guys persevered and kept working,” Panthers coach Enrique Rodriguez said. “Ryan made it all work in the net. No question, he was the key to the win.”

In the other end, Cardinal Newman keeper Thomas Wilczewski was called on to make four saves in 110 minutes of play in regulation and overtime.

Pinewood Prep was 5-for-5 in the penalty kick shootout against Wilczewski with Kevin Weber’s clean score on the fifth rotation being the game-winner.

Cardinal Newman had conversions from stars Nestor Jaramillo and Koty Millard, senior Thomas Touma and freshman Jack Sicker, but Andrew Wilczewski’s wide-of-the-mark launch on the fourth rotation proved costly.
FWIW, I saw Pinewood very early in the year. Despite the loss to graduation of some very good players, they struck me as a well-coached, "together" group -- exactly what you need to win tough road games. Also, between us guys, NOBODY in this state, public or private, home or road, regardless of enrollment and reputation, is unbeatable in a playoff setting. Pinewood/CN demonstrated this fundamental truth, yet again.

Any truth behind that scoreline?
I heard 2-1 clover also. Not a lie.

I dont know.... Gilbert seems pretty strong with an above average defense with Michael Shealy holding them down. I bet that Coach Darlington has something up his sleeve....
@ South Aiken

South Aiken 4
Fort Dorchester 3

South Aiken advances to the Lower State Championship and will host Wando on Tuesday after a 4-3 barnburner over Fort Dorchester. Scrappy game. Fort Dorchester converted a PK just before halftime to go up 3-2. South Aiken tied the score at 3-3 about ten minutes into the 2nd half. With under 2 mins to play, South Aiken had a corner/throw/free kick and one of their players was apparantly punched in the #%#% by the Fort Dorchester GK. Guy was writing around on the ground in pain. After some deliberation from the head official, the GK was given a red card and South Aiken was awarded a PK which they converted to go up 4-3. South Aiken earned what appeared to be another clear PK in stoppage time, earning Fort Dorcheser another red card, but the ref opted to give a free kick outside of the box. Tough win for the T-breds. Tough loss for Fort D.

Dont beleive Michael Shealy plays for Gilbert.Got kicked off team from what I was told.
soccervol correction the defender Michael Shealy didn't get kicked off the team he has a knee injury that required surgery. Not sure who told you but they have no idea what they are talking about! Check your message box.
Michael Shealy doesn't play for Gilbert.
Actually the knee injury was after it was decided he should leave the team. Gilbert has played a great season and the majority of it without him. One player doesn't make the team and there remains a lot of talent to pull from. Darlington will have them ready for Indian Land. It will be a great game.
Post deleted by RealScSoccer
GI2016 you are 100% wrong the knee injury happened 2 weeks before during the PAC match in which this player scored 2 of the 3 goals in the 3-2 win. Know the facts before you speak for you factually incorrect!

Wow, somebody got that one right rather early. I've got room for one more, we're going to Vegas! You coming?
Waccamaw 0
Academic Magnet 1

Yes, our GKer was red carded somewhere in the middleish of the first half... maybe like 15-17 minutes to go in the half. It was a straight red card but the infraction was deemed "an intentional hand ball outside the box" therefore it did not result in a PK. Waccamaw played a through ball, and my GKer came out.

Waccamaw has a great team this year and provided a significant match-up problem for us. I cannot say enough about my team and how they played! We look forward to representing 2A lowerstate in the finals.
Everyone from Clover, even the team and coaches: Don't ever compare the Brazilian kid with the ENZO, never ever ever everrrrrrrr.. "You Are My Enzo, My Only Enzo, You Make Me Happy When Skies are Grey We Would Have Lucas But He's A Wanker So Please Don't Take My Enzo Away"
HURST66 the game was rigged, we made millions on that one. I didn't see it but heard about it. Do you remember who edited it first and put that early score in like that? There name would be on the right side of the score under the edited by column. The last post was by a Kevin Darlington must be the coach for Gilbert.
Good run by Gilbert this year especially with out there best player. Moving to 3A for next year and losing several key players due to graduation for next year will be tough for them. Good luck to Indian Land and Academic Magnet for the 2A boys match on Saturday.
Now The JL Mann vs Wando match up will be a match to watch. Mann is riding high and on a strong roll but can they contain Ham, if so they win but that's not an easy task.

Hahahaha!!! Pretty funny!! Unfair comparison, but funny.

There is only 1 Enzo. But 1 Enzo was helped by having an Alex and a Ricky and a Dennis and a Robbie and a Shawn and a...and a....and a.....

Clover had a ton of heart but no one else at Lucas level that he could play off of and with. A big part of the fun of watching Enzo play was the creativity shown when combining with his teammates.

He will be hugely successful at Carolina when matched up with the likes of Devin et al. Lucas cannot be consistently defended in space, space he rarely got in R3 once teams heard of him, or especially in HS. In the Irmo game....they had #6 marking him as tightly as a player can be marked regardless of where the ball was. Somehow I doubt that will the case in Aug/Sept...tho maybe in Oct/Nov.

He is not Enzo. But a special player in his own right. And a great kid.

The final was 6-0. I guess Clover left in all in Irmo. This was not close ever. Should be a trip worth taking Saturday.
Hats off to Coach Darlington and the Gilbert Indians. Great match last night in 2A. Much respect for the program, he'll have them ready for 3A next year.
Enzo had those guys true but, maybe, just maybe he made them better?
What happened to Eastside lvrpul?
Some stats keepers from a local rival kept going into the Eurosport scoreboard and claimed Gilbert as their program. Once they do this they can make changes. They had been making changes since the weekend but whoever made that change did get it right in the end.

GSC
Great match last night between Eastside and Fort Mill. Two very good coaches with (2) very classy teams. The teams played well and their respective fans were very passionate about their teams/players! Hats off to both coaches. It was good to see the flow of the game as each team battled for 80 minutes.
Quote:

Absolutely, but Messi didn't have Iniesta or Xavi at the last World Cup. Funny, he played well but somehow was criticized for not being dominating like he is at Barca.

Synergies. To be at their best, great players need great players to feed and feed off of.

Something tells me Enzo's HS numbers would have been off a tad had he played at Nation Ford or York or Gaffney. Or Clover.

Lucas will be an outstanding attacking player for USC. People will love his creativity once they get a chance to see him regularly. I thnk once he gets mixed in with the rest of that 2012 class he will do great. He only played with my son for one season....but my kid sees him as one of the two best players he has every played with or against.

I applaude Coach Cole and the Indian Land Warriors for advancing to Saturday's 2A State Championship Match. Last night was arguably one of the top 2A Upper State Championship matches ever played. We are now on to 3A but it was great having an all Indians 2A Upper State final 2 years in a row. Coach Cole has built a great soccer program at Indian Land and, in addition to this year, you can plan on them challenging for Upper State and State Championships for at least the next few years and possibly beyond.

Great Job!!!
Coach KD
I don't know...looking at this year's team picture on Gilbert Indians Soccer facebook page, not seeing any players missing from this year's team. You appear the be FACTUALLY INCORRECT! Gilbert was 22-3-0 this year. No one was missing from this Team. Congratulations to this team and their fantastic year. Next year's going to rock....Wait, I know who you're talking about. The foreign Exchange student that didn't participate in the playoffs...I don't know if I'd call him the best player, but they did miss his magic tricks. He was a fun guy. It was nice of you to remember him!

Oh it's "their" best player...not "there"...google it
GI2016 Gilbert didn't have any exchange student this year so you are FACTUALLY INCORRECT! The player I refer to is the only player that plays on an Elite Premier team for SCUFC, Plays ODP, was selected to play for the US on a U15 team at the age of 13 in Austria and also selected tor represent his club as an ambassador to a German club last summer and also hosted players from Germany a month ago so I hear. Also he was named All Region last year as a freshman. Better get to the eye doctor and have your eyes checked for he is not in the picture!
GI maybe he was talking about #14. He was out with a stomach bug last night. Anyway congratulations to Gilbert and Indian Land on great seasons.

Sounds like you know this player very well. Is this player well known or is he someone we should be on the look out for in the future?

Kinda sad to contemplate a "recruiting battle" over a high school sophomore.

Only applies to private schools
Keep telling yourself that. Happens all the time in SCHSL football and basketball. Can soccer be far "behind"?
if we were all just as good as our DAD makes us out to be....lol
Injured Players normally set on the bench during games and support their team mates. They do not sit in the stands and trash talk their team.

It is a shame to see such a gifted player become so arrogant and self-centered that they are a detriment to the team.

You would think that being kicked off of a team would teach the child humility but it seems to have only increased his sense of superiority.

No one wants to have a player on the team that thinks the world revolves around him and that doesn't buy into the coach's philosophy. This attitude has already harmed his high school career and could affect his college career unless he checks his pride (arrogance) at the door and learns the meaning of team work.
The post above was in reference the discussion of the Gilbert Team.

@ Nukeworker

Gilbert did have an exchange student this year. He stayed with a Pastor and his wife, but he didn't get to finish the season due to a cyst and a possible surgery. You know, your are factually incorrect. Not one player got them to where they got.....there is no "I" in team. Unlike you think one single person can do it all.

I think Nukeworker honestly believes that he is telling the truth (except for the part about leaving the team due to injury). Maybe Nukeworker's source is being less than honest with him. Wouldn't be the first time that a source has lied to protect themselves and manipulate a situation.

Didn't Dick Hiller already do this. As a player at Irmo and coach at Chapin HS?
