Congrats to Coach Eskew and Dorman Soccer for a fantastic game of Football tonight. End to end stuff. Clover missed a PK to tie the game while Dorman converted theirs in the first half. Small margin tonight....1 nil was enough for the Cavaliers. Just wasn't meant to be. Proud of my lads all season and especially tonight. Taking over this program this year has been an honor. Thanks to my seniors and parents. The lads have grown into young men throughout the season. Life lessons learned that will serve you well. Respect, honor, integrity, courage and commitment. We don't throw these words around lightly.

Good luck the rest of the way Dorman and all those still fighting.

Yes, that was the reason for the move. Both coaches agreed that it was the best decision.

Final score at The Swamp:
River Bluff 4

How remarkable it would be if Coach Savitz won back to back State Championships with two different teams.... Has it been done before? Didn't Finotti do this a few years back with some of the upstate teams? I can't remember. Another nice win for Phil.
The boys Class 3A soccer match between Hilton Head Island at Brookland-Cayce scheduled for Thursday, May 15 has been postponed due to inclement weather. The match will be made up on Friday, May 16 at 7:00 p.m. at Brookland-Cayce HS.

Subject: Boys Soccer Playoffs Today

Just wanted to clarify the procedures for making up a soccer playoff game if weather forces a cancellation of play today.

*Home team makes decision whether game can be played. After game is started decision rests with the officials.

*Games that are postponed today MUST be played tomorrow. Once a game has completed one half it is an official game and the team that is ahead is declared the winner IF the game is stopped due to weather issues and play is not resumed the same day. Should the game be tied, or stopped prior to the completion of one half it is a suspended game and is to be restarted from the point of interruption the next day.

*Saturday’s 3rd round game will remain on schedule. Whether a team plays today or is postponed until tomorrow has no bearing on Saturdays schedule.

Should you have any questions feel free to contact me.
Thank you for that Kevin!

Fort Mill and JL Mann both have girls games tomorrow which means if they can't play today then we have double headers tomorrow.

At this point the games are too stressful for double headers. Might need oxygen in the stands for the parents
Airport at Socastee has been postponed until 6 pm tomorrow night.
Mid Carolina @ Indian Land postponed until tomorrow at 6pm.
Dutch Fork @ Wando rescheduled for Friday 5:30PM.

and has given his team a good advantage, by playing his game yesterday, for the next round with two extra full days of rest if Walhalla cancel today. Perhaps 4-0 wasn't a close enough game to get gassed but every advantage at this stage is one I would take ... if we were still in it

Smart cookie.

I wonder why Greenville wanted that situation. Favored RB the whole way - home, easy first round, et al. Strange decision unless he had club tryouts this weekend that were more important?

I think it would since they'd be playing Academic Magnet.

But that doesn't really solve the big problem which is the private school vs public school issue.
In the 2012 AAAA Final, JL Mann defeated Wando 2-1. However....the SCHSL Website, in its "Palmetto's Finest" Section, shows Wando as the Champion and Mann as Runner-Up:

To put it in perspective...

According to the Scoreboard, on 3/29, this year's 1A state champion lost to this year's 4A state champion in sudden death PKs...1-1 regulation/OT, 6-5 kicks from the mark.

I agree 100%! I went down to support Eastside and JL Mann and baked in the sun. The AAA Final was outstanding, that's what high school sports should embody! Talk about everyone leaving it on the field (I was gassed after that game). The AAAA game was over at halftime so I left but I was disappointed in the Patriots even though I know Wando is always very good.

Also, what a venue! Hats off to River Bluff High School! Someone told me it cost $330 million. Well, I would rather see our money support that type of "excellence" instead of what we have in Greenville County where our athletic facilities leave a lot to be desired to say the least.
"The construction of River Bluff totaled $138.9 million, authorized by voters in 2008."

Quote:

Don't rely on Wiki for info It wasn't approved by the voters it was approved by the School Board and the company that won the bid CCA (China Construction America, Inc,) is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Chinese Government. The original bid was for 75 million that quickly grew to almost double that amount. Another sad commentary on our State
I agree on the Atmosphere. My group of coaches and soccer fans always make a day of watching the Championship games. The 3A Boys Championship game was the best atmosphere of all 4 Saturday games. 2A wasn't bad either. 4A JV Mann fans did their best but with hardly anyone from Wando they couldn't do much. For it being "the biggest game of the season" it didn't really live up to the hype. Except for the 4A games 1st goal. The volley was sick!
>>But that doesn't really solve the big problem which is the private school vs public school issue.<<

Easily solved. If you charge tuition or receive non-public financial support (from a church, religeous organization, corpration etc.), you are in SCISA. Period.

Their only other losses were to JL Mann and Irmo in the regular season (by one goal each) and they beat 3A champs Eastside 4-0 in the preseason...

Needless to say, St. Joe's doesn't belong in 1A, but the rules won't let them play where they belong which is in 4A. Playing in SCISA won't help because they'll blow up everyone there even worse than in 1A.
Well making them play in SCISA will at least let the small public schools play each other which is the whole points of public education and having different classes.

If you want to attend a private school then go for it, but don't expect the right to play against public schools in sports.

I still think the better solution is what Paul Schleifer proposed last year -- a pro style relegation/promotion scheme. That way schools play at whatever level is appropriate for them regardless of whether they are small or large, public or private.
It's a good idea Emilio, but never work at the high school level due to multiple issues.

One its complicated, especially when you are dealing with 200ish schools. Although moving a couple of teams wouldn't be TOO hard.

Then you have the up and down issues with teams and students. Northwestern girls won the region last year, finished 5th this year all because 8 seniors last year etc etc.

The best solution is probably to treat them as 4a or to treat them as if they had double their actual student body to even things out a bit as some other states do.

if you double St Joes they might still be 1A.

the I in SCISA is INDEPENDENT for a reason.
theres such a disparity in hs sports built in anyway amongst true public schools correctly classified under the current system and that's fine. but to knowingly throw the small public schools to the wolves every year is a disgusting display from the morons in charge that should know better. those small public schools are following the rules & have no choice but to be squeezed out by the trophy collecting private schools. the coaches & admins of those private schools should be ashamed also for gaming the system...but they're not.
