Cardinal Newman 2
Heathwood 3

Any details on the game? Is the current Heathwood coach the old CN coach? What happened to CN? PG plays CN at CN on Thursday at 7.

Gives Ben Lippen a larger Region lead, I belive they can clinch the region if they win the next two games, At Hammond and CN at BL.
After those two game they would have 0 loses and everyone else would have 3 with 2 games to go.

How does the rest of that region look? Who should finish third and fourth?
Posted By: count zero Re: SCISA UPSET - 04/22/04 04:39 AM
Between Hammond and Heathwood, the both have to play BL and CN and each other again.

Why are there so many Region games?
Why doesn't SCISA move Wilson Hall and Thomas Sumter to the lower division?

Playoff prediction:

1Ben Lippen
4Beaufort Academy

2Hilton Head Christian
3Hammond

1Pinewood Prep
4Heathwood Hall

2Cardinal Newman
3Porter-Gaud

It seems than Porter-Gaud and Cardinal Newman are having down years, which is still above average. I don't know very much about Hilton Head Christian
but it seems that they have not been challenge very much. I don't think it is a stretch to say that Ben Lippen and Pinewood Prep would be the Championship Game, but every team can go on a run.
Posted By: benp Re: SCISA UPSET - 04/21/04 11:12 PM
no one ever submitted all the games on ben lippens schedule, so their next 2 region games are actually orangeburg prep and hammond, also their current record is 12-3-1 and 7-1 in region
Posted By: benp Re: SCISA UPSET - 04/21/04 11:24 PM
sorry 7-0

There is alot of soccer left in SCISA. No doubt it would be a safe assupmtion to say BL and Pinewood in the championship, but like you said everyone can go on a run. This is the second time around in region so things could get interesting. I agree that it should be Ben Lippen and Pinewood in the championship. Any guess on who wins it?

I would put down BL if they play like they did @ Cardinal Newman. That was a fast very well played game.

You haven't seen Pinewood play, have you?
Posted By: Anonymous Re: SCISA UPSET - 04/22/04 11:56 AM
I think that if pinewood played as well as they did against BE then they have a sure chance of winning
Posted By: Anonymous Re: SCISA UPSET - 04/22/04 12:15 PM
Personally I haven't, but they don't seem to be very consistant. I've read up as much as possible and I believe that BL can win if they play like they did at Cardinal Newman.

Have you seen Ben Lippen play?
Posted By: count zero Re: SCISA UPSET - 04/22/04 02:05 PM
The one thing that BL needs to continuing to improve on is its scoring/finishing capability.

Ben Lippen and Pinewood had the one and two offenses last year. Pinewood seems to be doing the same this year but Ben Lippen is at 37 goals with 5 games left info got from the www.soccerinfo.com link. So if some games are missed them they should be called in.

I would think that if BL and PW got into the Championship that PW would be the favored. I have seen both teams play. CN vs BL game very good game but they could have scored more late in the game to seal it.

Pinewood vs Spring Valley very tough game Pinewood plays very hard soccer. SV up 2-0 and Pinewood closed to 2-1 but SV scored again, I think the SV player Had a hat trick.

I would encourage BL go into more Tourneys like that did at the beginning of this year. Since the Palmetto Cup is going to be after Easter I would encourge BL to try that venue next year. BL play in the Palmetto Cup in 96.

I thought our SCISA fans would like to read this article by Thomas Grant of The Times and Democrat from Orangeburg. I'd love to see some responses from "count zero", "Paruthead", "JBO", "shreky", "benp", "BDad11", etc.! Have at it!

Does anyone know if half of these teams have soccer teams? I don't think that will change soccer at all at least from the playoff perspective. It may allow more scisa teams to play more non-conference teams because they don't have 12 region games.

But if half of the teams don't have soccer teams then they will just have to realign for soccer.
Current they is only two region, Upper state and Lower state, I guess.

I think that having maybe 14 teams in the current league and 8 teams go to the playoff. And how many of those teams have a realitic chance at winning the league. And if you do what pride do you take in it.
The standard playoff for the Champion is first game below average team, second game average team
championship Above average team.

sorry if I was a bit hard, when I played for Ben Lippen in the mid-late 90s we were in 2a/1a and I don't think there way anything wrong with that at least for soccer.
Posted By: Anonymous Re: SCISA UPSET - 04/23/04 12:27 PM
The new region does not change much for Ben Lippen. The top 3 rivals are still in their region CN, Hammond, and Heathwood. It also removes weaker teams such as Wilson Hall and Thomas Sumter. The new alignments are only an improvement for BL at least in soccer.
Posted By: Anonymous Re: SCISA UPSET - 04/23/04 12:30 PM
I agree that BL needs to finish better, it has been a problem for them all year. They are improving though. Thursday night 8-1 over Orangeburg Prep. I also agree that Pinewood would be favored.

On a side note does anyone no what is up with Porter-Gaud this year. I heard Cardinal Newman completely dominated the game last night.
Posted By: benp Re: SCISA UPSET - 04/24/04 02:26 AM
i think what is more rediculous than finishing is letting up goals to crap teams such as orangeburg prep
Posted By: Anonymous Re: SCISA UPSET - 04/24/04 08:29 PM
anyone know any details on the kid who scored 3 on CN?
Posted By: BDad11 Re: SCISA UPSET - 04/26/04 01:01 PM
I think you will find the soccer regions pretty much the same next year with the addition of Augusta Christian.A north team will mostlikely be shifted south to even things out.Just my opinion, but too many teams in the basketball/baseball set up don't field soccer teams.
