Landon Brice leads the Myrtle Beach Seahawks in goals this season with 20. Brookland-Cayce's Andrew Evans and Reeves Miller of Pendleton both have 19. There is also a Manuel Algerez or some weird last name from North Myrtle Beach with 25+ goals this season.

Yea that Manuel guys awesome, how come his name isnt ever mentioned in papers?

#14 for SF has 12 not much but hes our top scorer
Posted By: Anonymous Re: Goal Scorers - 04/04/04 05:41 AM
Reeves Miller scored 4 more on Monday and is actually now up to 23 for the year
Posted By: Anonymous Re: Goal Scorers - 04/04/04 05:43 AM
thought I might also mention that Reeves is a junior at this point and scored 27 as a sophomore so he's looking to surpass his mark from last year.

Lee Johnson has 19 goals ( Wilson )

#4 and #13 for Aynor has a good many goals. Both are great strikers.

Just curious what type of teams have these guys played against?Im sure if they played more teams out of the upstate they wouldnt have that many goals. Like greenville, eastside, riverside, southside, mann , seneca, daniel , i dont think they would have 20+ goals. Im not tryin to start anything with the lower state folk but what i posted earlier "STRENGTH OF SCHEDULE" comes into mind....
Posted By: Anonymous Re: Goal Scorers - 04/05/04 02:30 AM
This is true if u look at it some of the most talented goal scorers dont have many goals due to the strength of scheduel and also when they do play teams were they could just smear the hel1 out of a team their coaches have the amount of respect for the other team to restrict the goal scoring and let players who normally dont get a chance to play play. So i think its really important to look at strength of scheduel when viewing the top goal scorers bc anyone can score 10 goals against some crappy team.

Edisto's left forward Paul Guffey (just a sophomore) has about 22 goals on this season so far (10 games) and is sure to surpass 30 goals by the end of this season.

In response to the strength of schedule comment I would point out that first off Pendleton is in the upstate and in fact we have played Seneca and Reeves scored in that game (a 3-1 win). Also Pendleton played in the Sandhills Classic this preseason and Reeves scored against Ridge View and Hilton Head (both ranked 4A teams). In addition to that we are heading down to Columbia on Wednesday to play in the Palmetto Cup where we will be the only 2A school in the tournament. We've also scheduled Emerald (#1 in 2A)for later in the year. Surely, it goes without saying that the best players might not always lead the state in scoring because of the competition they play against but I did want to point out that Pendleton has played quality opposition and Reeves has scored against all of them with the exception of Westminster who was #3 in 3A (GA) which was our third game in the same day and 2nd in a 2 hour span. Reeves is as legit as they come as far as pure scorers.

cap'n - thanks for the scouting report...

Reeves is very good. He is very underated. He does well around goal, and can finish very well.

Forward from Batesburg-Leesville has around 25 goals in 10 games. He has well over 10 assists also. He should finish up the next two games with around 30 goals for 12 games. That will be great. Hes a great all around player. Great dribbling skills and once he's got the ball, its hard to stop him.

The Forward from Batesburg is Shay Barnes.

No offense but BL doesnt really play anyone that extremely hard with one exception to BC, Emerald, and Chapin.

Don't be mad centermid06. Shay is a real competitive player and a damn good one. Look at his stats for this year. He made All-region last year and he started playin varsity his 9th grade year. Where are you from and what team do u play for?
