WILSON HALL WILL GET DESTROYED.
Posted By: benp Re: scisa playoffs - 05/06/05 07:17 PM
Ok, at the moment, there seems to be a bit of controversy. It seems that, with a win tonight. Ben Lippen and Cardinal Newman will be tied up until the tie breaker that goes by Head to Head goals allowed. Their games against each other were
0-0 Cardinal Newman in Pks
and
1-0 Ben Lippen.
The controversy is that Cardinal Newman is complaining that they get a goal for a win in pks...what do you guys think?
Posted By: Anonymous Re: scisa playoffs - 05/06/05 08:12 PM
Technically, a win in Pk's after a 0-0 game ends up 1-0 to the winner. They have an argument.
Posted By: Anonymous Re: scisa playoffs - 05/06/05 08:35 PM
yes, maybe the state, and even the scoreboard says 1-0 cardinal newman, but i thought techically, the score was 0-0 cardinal newman wins in pks. Also, who gets credit for the goal? Did Cardinal Newman actually score against ben lippen this year? I don't think it should count.
Posted By: Anonymous Re: scisa playoffs - 05/07/05 05:02 AM
does anyone know anything about times and opponents for mondays first round scisa playoffs of 3a? i know we (BA) play monday but our coach and our athletic director cant tell us who or when. i was wondering if anyone had the schedule for the playoffs or anything that could help?
Posted By: Anonymous Re: scisa playoffs - 05/07/05 05:46 AM
uhm i believe the person that scores the game-winning pk gets to goal
Posted By: cap'n walt Re: scisa playoffs - 05/07/05 05:48 PM
Honestly, their is no one who will step up and interperate the ruling. So i believe that BL had 2 choices before the wilson hall game yesterday. They could either:
1. Beat wilson hall by 4 and win region
2. Beat wilson hall by any amount of points(just need a win) and then play CN on saturday for the title of region champs.

I believe they choose the first one, but dont quote me on that.
Posted By: Anonymous Re: scisa playoffs - 05/08/05 10:53 AM
anyone know whether BL or CN took first place in the north?
Posted By: cm15-90min Re: scisa playoffs - 05/08/05 01:31 PM
From what I've heard, nobody would step up and make a ruling one way or the other, so Ben Lippen decided to go in as the second seed
Posted By: Anonymous Re: scisa playoffs - 05/08/05 03:22 PM
o ok, thanks for your help, so i know this is going to sound repetitive, but that makes CN #1 seed in the north and theyll play BA on monday?
Posted By: Anonymous Re: scisa playoffs - 05/08/05 05:51 PM
Where can we get the SCISA brackets.
Posted By: Anonymous Re: scisa playoffs - 05/08/05 05:56 PM
Here (SCISA website) - http://www.scisa.org/athletics/soccer/

On right side of screen are the links for the playoff brackets.
Posted By: Anonymous Re: scisa playoffs - 05/08/05 06:24 PM
Soccermom, Thanks for the info. I've only seen Ben Lippen and Cardinal Newman play this year. Both are very good.
Posted By: Anonymous Re: scisa playoffs - 05/08/05 06:33 PM
Should be a good week of matches....Pinewood has shown it's depth even after losing 7 seniors. Hammond has a new coach this year (Adrian Pinasco, formerly of Beaufort Academy), Porter always comes to play....will be a lot of fun, especially since we (Pinewood) don't have to do much in the way of traveling!
Posted By: Anonymous Re: scisa playoffs - 05/08/05 10:43 PM
Is the BL-HHC game really at 7:00 tomorrow??? Or is it at 5:00.
Posted By: cap'n walt Re: scisa playoffs - 05/08/05 10:47 PM
the bracket with all the times and teams says it is at 7:00, so i'd go with 7
Posted By: Anonymous Re: scisa playoffs - 05/08/05 11:54 PM
does anyone from cardinal newman or anywhere know the time that they host beaufort academy tomorrow???
Posted By: benp Re: scisa playoffs - 05/09/05 12:15 AM
Cardinal Newman and Ben Lippen were named coregion champs, but Ben Lippen decided to avoid more confrontation and play as the second seed, but they are both number 1. Does anyone know what day round 2 is? The brackets don't work on my computer.
Posted By: Anonymous Re: scisa playoffs - 05/09/05 12:59 AM
My guess would be that round 2 is on Wednesday thats how it was last year. Guys played on Mon and Wed, and Girls played on Tues and Thrus. I believe that game(BL-HHC) is scheduled for 5:30 not 7:00 becuase of traveling reasons for HHC.
Posted By: Anonymous Re: scisa playoffs - 05/09/05 01:42 AM
The CN-BA is at 6:00 at CN monday night. and the 2nd round games are on wednesday night
Posted By: benp Re: scisa playoffs - 05/09/05 02:30 AM
no, actually the game ben lippen game is at 7 at bl.
Posted By: BDad11 Re: scisa playoffs - 05/09/05 12:37 PM
I'm a little surprised Ben Lippen "agreed" to take 2nd seed without a definitive ruling from Mike Fanning. After all the 2nd seed from the north is looking at a semifinal matchup with Pinewood.I'd rather take the easier road. Ben Lippen must be extremely confident of their chances. Why not at least a coin flip?
Posted By: Talon Re: scisa playoffs - 05/09/05 01:26 PM
Beware of Pinewood Prep and Porter-Gaud. Both have played good soccer lately and will make some noise in the playoffs.
Posted By: benp Re: scisa playoffs - 05/10/05 04:37 AM
Ben Lippen's game today has been moved to 6:00 as of this morning
Ben Lippen is confident in their team, not their chances, but that has nothing to do with the decision to forfiet the 1 seed, that was done to keep peace (this is my understanding). Also who is Mike Fanning?
Posted By: benp Re: scisa playoffs - 05/10/05 04:41 AM
Monday predictions

CN 4-1 BA
PG 1-2 HH
PW 2-3 Ham
And I won't predict on our game.
Posted By: BDad11 Re: scisa playoffs - 05/09/05 05:16 PM
Benp Lippen, Mike Fanning is the athletic secretary of SCISA. The head honcho for SCISA sports. There surely had to be a tie breaking procedure and usually if tied in head to head, goal differential, etc. the final tie breaker is a coin flip. You speak of keeping the peace. How so? The tie breaker is what it is. There should be no hard feelings over a tie breaker.

I see you predict 3 for 3 for the north region.Pinewood Prep was the most impressive team we played all season ON THE DAY WE PLAYED THEM. Don't overlook those boys. I think they'll handle Hammond. The others I don't know.
Posted By: benp Re: scisa playoffs - 05/09/05 06:22 PM
Mike Fanning never had anything to do with the decision, it was left up to Ben Lippen's AD and Cardinal Newman's AD. The tie breaker couldn't be settled because in head to head goals allowed, we allowed 0, and they allowed 1, and there was no explanation, either way about a pk win. Therefore, our AD allowed them to be the 1 seed, but we would split the region championship.
Posted By: benp Re: scisa playoffs - 05/09/05 06:23 PM
And I'm not saying that Hammond is the better team, i'm merely picked the upset.
Posted By: Anonymous Re: scisa playoffs - 05/09/05 11:50 PM
CN 4
BA 0
Posted By: Dain Bramage Re: scisa playoffs - 05/10/05 12:17 AM
Pinewood 1
Hammond 0

Great game by the Hammond keeper. At least five spectacular saves. Pinewood had many, many more chances. Hammond only one real threat - Pinewood was lucky they didn't score on that one.

Of note - Pinewood played most of the game with two freshmen and three eighth graders on the field.
Posted By: benp Re: scisa playoffs - 05/10/05 12:27 AM
Ben Lippen 2-0 HHC
shots 11-11
BUT...Ben Lippen had 12 legitimate offsides called against them. First real good trap run against them and they weren't prepared. What do you think about BL's keeper Eagle Forward?
Posted By: benp Re: scisa playoffs - 05/10/05 12:33 AM
hh 1-0 PG in overtime
Posted By: Anonymous Re: scisa playoffs - 05/10/05 01:02 AM

HH at CN
BL at PP

what are you're comments sweeper7?
Posted By: Anonymous Re: scisa playoffs - 05/10/05 03:46 AM
BL's keep played extremely well tonight. He had five or six spectacular saves and i think he was the dominant factor of why BL won. They controlled the middle better, but clearly their keeper was the deciding factor. A few of those balls he saved were upper 90 on ropes!! BL's first goal was nice but their second goal, that was just pathetic on HHC's part. COngrats and Good Luck against Pinewood becuase they are very very good.
Posted By: Anonymous Re: scisa playoffs - 05/10/05 05:28 PM
I don't know who eagle forward is, but after watching the video of the game the mid field won 75% of the head balls and controlled the middle throughout the game. HHC defence made 2 mental mistakes after playing a beautiful offsides trap throughout the 1st half and BL executed, so props to them. The goal keeper was awesome the best I have seen all season and BL as team works well together. It was a great game and good luck to them against Pinewood.
Posted By: cap'n walt Re: scisa playoffs - 05/10/05 05:31 PM
hah, what a joker. 75% i know that isn't true. Maybe 40%. Also, no team controlled the midfield. All the mids did is just switch the ball up and down the field.
Posted By: Anonymous Re: scisa playoffs - 05/10/05 05:34 PM
watch the video buddy video doesn't lie
Posted By: benp Re: scisa playoffs - 05/10/05 05:36 PM
why don't you go back, watch the video, and count each header, and come back and give cap'n his results.
Posted By: Anonymous Re: scisa playoffs - 05/10/05 05:40 PM
sounds good to me
Posted By: Anonymous Re: scisa playoffs - 05/10/05 05:42 PM
I'm not taking away anything from BL. They won the game. Simple as that. I just know from the video more headers whether it was goal kicks punts or whatever hhc won more. So I will go back and count the headers.
Posted By: cap'n walt Re: scisa playoffs - 05/10/05 05:43 PM
listen frank, my name is cap'n walt, and i would appreciate it if you addressed me as such. I was at the game and BL won the majority of the headers.
Posted By: benp Re: scisa playoffs - 05/10/05 05:48 PM
Sweet, 'preciate it.
Posted By: Anonymous Re: scisa playoffs - 05/10/05 08:17 PM
who cares who won more head balls, does it really matter anyways. BL, from my perspective, controlled the middle more than HHC did, they passed it and worked the ball better, but i think HHC had better and more scroing opportunites but BL's keep stopped them, but let me say this, BL if yall want to beat Pinewood yall had better up yalls game 5 times from Monday becuase Pinewood is extremely good!!!
Posted By: Anonymous Re: scisa playoffs - 05/10/05 09:02 PM
BL started very slow at the beginning of the game and later began to come back. Hilton Head Christian had a good game with 2 great chances to score and tie the game and I wish we could play each other again and settle these issues, but it is going to happen. BL plays Pinewood tomorrow, and if Pinewood becomes any kind of a threat to BL I am possitive that we will bring out our A game just as we do against CN but better and win.

"if Pinewood becomes any kind of threat to Ben Lippon"(I_KICK_BALLS)

I think you have it backwards big man, I think you meant to say If Ben Lippon becomes any kind of threat to Pinewood. I have played against CN and Pinewood, and in my perspective again, Pinewood is better team than CN, not taking anything away from CN becuase the are also a good team. Pinewoods defense is outstanding led by their sweeper. Their midfields are all very talented and their fowards are big and fast( #4, BL better have a man on him all game or her will tear yall up) and their keeper, probaly the best in the state. Soo good luck BL because your going more than your A game to play with them.
Posted By: benp Re: scisa playoffs - 05/11/05 12:04 AM
so, unlike you're friend...the other eagle guy, you don't consider bl's keeper better than pinewoods? Did you even get enough shots on him to tell?
Posted By: Anonymous Re: scisa playoffs - 05/11/05 12:20 AM
I find it amusing that ben lippen and hilton head are the only teams posting...But, i guess i'll add my two cents. Ben Lippen was probably the better team, and most likely played better than hilton head, Pinewood WILL be a big threat to ben lippen, but i'm told that the past history is in favor of ben lippen. That being said, it should be a great game, and if both teams bring their top game, then I will be sorry that it was in summerville.

BL's keeper is good but Pinewoods keeper is better in my opinion so quit be so biased becuase there keepers out there that are alot better and everyone knows that, have you even seen Pinewood play??
Posted By: Anonymous Re: scisa playoffs - 05/11/05 01:13 AM
I'm not trying to get people mad at me, just trying to say that when pinewood plays hard against BL we will try our best to play back. That is it.
Posted By: Anonymous Re: scisa playoffs - 05/11/05 01:19 AM
I have seen both pinewoods goalie and ben lippens goalie, and Ben Lippen's goalie is worlds better than pinewoods. But Pinewoods keeper is young, so he will improve.
Posted By: benp Re: scisa playoffs - 05/11/05 01:27 AM
eagle forward, I didn't say that bl's keeper was better, I just asked if you don't consider him better, and if you have even gotten a shot against pinewood. I haven't seen pinewood's keeper yet this year, so I can't possibly know.
Posted By: Anonymous Re: scisa playoffs - 05/11/05 01:37 AM
To I Kick Balls- I hope yall play yalls best against Pinewood and play your best game against. I want BL to do well against them and i hope that the game tom. night is a good and close one.

To benp- To answer your question yes we have had numerous shots on Pinewood and yes we have scored on them

To say that BL's keep is worlds better than Pinewoods is just wrong becuase then your saying that Pinewoods keeper is an below average keeper and he is not. You have an opinion and i have an opinion Impartial Bystander, obviously we are all not going to agree on the same thing.
Posted By: cap'n walt Re: scisa playoffs - 05/11/05 02:40 AM
i remeber seeing Pinewoods keeper last year in the state championship game. He was only tested a few times..and a hard short by BL's big forward was easily put past him. He must have improved a lot for yall to make him greater than Bl's keeper.
Posted By: whsweeper Re: scisa playoffs - 05/11/05 02:56 AM
when we scrimmaged pinewood before the season started their goalie did seem very inexperienced and made some bad choices. he has probably improved a lot but Ben Lippen's goalie is very good too and he seems to play solid every game and makes good choices
Posted By: whsweeper Re: scisa playoffs - 05/11/05 03:00 AM
And i think Cardinal Newman is going to win state even though they lost to Ben Lippen 1-0 they were probably the best team we played consistancy wise as in they didn't really have any bad games and always play at a very high level
Posted By: Dain Bramage Re: scisa playoffs - 05/11/05 01:19 PM
ummmm...this is the same BL keeper that walked off the field in last year's final?

I have only seen him in one match, but the Hammond keeper had on outstanding day against Pinewood on Monday.
Posted By: BDad11 Re: scisa playoffs - 05/11/05 01:26 PM
The keeper position was probably the strongest position as a whole in the north region. Pretty much all the contending teams(I include WH as a contender) had a solid keeper this year. I think that was one reason for so many tight games.4 of the 5 graduate. It will be new keepers at most schools in the north next year.
Posted By: benp Re: scisa playoffs - 05/11/05 05:16 PM
what are your predictions for tonight's semi finals?
I'm gonna go Cardinal Newman 2-1 Heathwood.
Posted By: cap'n walt Re: scisa playoffs - 05/11/05 05:20 PM
WH as a contender...cough cough...dont you have to make playoffs to be a contender?
Posted By: Cola Fan Re: scisa playoffs - 05/11/05 05:30 PM
I work with a HH parent and got to watch WH in Colubmia a couple of weeks ago. Decent team, but no offensive attack at all. Decent keeper, but HH put three past them. The Columbia teams are all better than WH, who had a good season which is rare.
Posted By: BDad11 Re: scisa playoffs - 05/11/05 05:39 PM
Cola fan, you happened to catch us on our worst performance of the year. No energy whatsoever. The first WH-HH game went to pks . HH won but WH outshot HH in regulation and ots.As for no attack, we did have 1 player with 26 goals this season. Yes, no doubt the Columbia teams were all better than WH. No argument there. But WH was competitive in every game and return all but 2 next year. Should be a better season next year.

As for you cap'n walt. You'd best be thinking about your game tonight.
Posted By: benp Re: scisa playoffs - 05/11/05 05:46 PM
BDad11, you happened to catch HH on their worst performance of the year. No energy whatsoever. The second game they dominated you, and put 3 past you. Good luck next year though, you still have a long way to go before you break the playoff barrier, but I'll be excited when it happens. It would mean another quality team in Scisa.
Posted By: 2004striker Re: scisa playoffs - 05/11/05 05:49 PM
If WH is losing only 2 players, then they will be contenders next year. How many players (who play) are the Cola teams losing?
Posted By: cap'n walt Re: scisa playoffs - 05/11/05 05:50 PM
oh dont you worry bdad, i've been thinking about it since monday night. I'm pretty excited it should be a good physical game.
Posted By: cap'n walt Re: scisa playoffs - 05/11/05 05:52 PM
BL is losing 6 or 7 total
Posted By: benp Re: scisa playoffs - 05/11/05 05:53 PM
BL loses 3 starters, one that starts depending on the type of competition we are playing. And 2 bench players...total of 6. CN loses 8 starters or something like that. And HH loses 5 or so.
Posted By: whsweeper Re: scisa playoffs - 05/11/05 07:43 PM
I say Ben lippen 2-1 over Pinewood and Cardinal Newman 2-0 over Heathwood

I thought we could have made it to the playoffs this year but some tough losses really started to dampen our spririt and started to take a toll in later games i agree that its hard to recognize our team as an actual soccer team from past history but i don't think we are just another team to beaten by the better teams anymore and i think that shows we can be a contending team even if we didn't make to the playoff's this year you have to see that the team seems only to be getting better and hopefully we will make it next year but that doesn't matter that much now so good luck to everyone still in the race for state and I hope the north wins this year
Posted By: MP Re: scisa playoffs - 05/11/05 08:06 PM
Does anyone know the time of the PW-BL matchup?
Posted By: BDad11 Re: scisa playoffs - 05/11/05 08:14 PM
I predict PW and BL will end in a tie and go to pks. The keeper from BL will stop every PW shot and BL will miss 17 consecutive pks wide right until Benp is summoned from the stands to score the winning pk with a blistering shot in the upper right corner.BL wins 0-0 (1-0) in a classic thriller. The only downside is Benp is mauled in the post shootout celebration and sprains his wrist rendering him unable to post on this board. Thats how I see it unfolding.
