I'm a little surprised that this topic hasn't come up yet for discussion. It's been fairly common knowledge for some time now that West Florence was suspended from post-season play. Now their appeal to the SCHSL was denied.

Appeal denial leaves Knights out of playoffs

Without too much trash talking, what's the opinion of the learned members of this board?

It said WF will not forfeit any matches..but the records of the other region opponents will be as though they won both matches against WF. So..they should still send 4 teams. Just..not WF.

yeah im from west florence and it was kinda a shock that the appeal didnt go through. i think our whole team expected it to but hey, what can you do. we are 8-0 in our region and we have only lost 4 games, 3 of which were against the beach teams and the other was the hartsville game that we got in a fight and they counted it as a loss. i just feel like we let our coach down because this is the first time in like 30 years that his team hasnt gone to post-season play. but be expecting us next year . . . we have alot of stron underclassmen that will take over our team.

Alexg, it's a tough thread. Interest is probably there, but comments will probably end up just ticking people off. And not everyone wants to do that. Since I live in West Florence, and have a lot of respect for Coach Andrews, I am sympathetic to the situation. The easiest thing to do is probably bash the High School League, like we bash the referees, but I'm thinking the better thing to do is for the players (and not just WF players) to try and walk away from this with an understanding that an individual's actions are viewed as the team's actions. Having played West Florence in scrimmages for a number of years, the one thing I see as a common thread over the years is a lot of individual talent, but not a lot of team commitment. I'm sure each and every player on WF see's it differently, and I'm probably way off base, but you were looking for another comment - there's mine.

i hate to comment but i cant help it. for the last however many years, there has been a lack of control @ WF unless there was a good assistant coaching there. i'll leave that where it is. just pathetic that w/ all the talent we've had over a 20 year period we still have the 2nd round and out streak
