Justin Blomdahl--30 goals 17 assts
and who does he play for?
I know a better sophomore
Justin is definitely not the best sophomore in the state. He plays for Waccamaw in 2A. First of all, he is playing against below average opponents every week in probably the weakest region of the entire state in any classification. He is also the age of a junior. The true mark of a quality player is how well he plays when the team plays against decent competition. Out of the games that Waccamaw has played against teams in 3A or 4A that are ranked, Waccamaw is 0-4-1 and have been outscored a total of 22-4 by Socastee, North Myrtle Beach and West Ashley. That is a maximum of 4 goals for Justin in these 5 games, none of which they won. Obviously he is a good player because you do not score 30 goals and have 17 assists without being a good player, but there is no chance that he is the best sophomore in the state because the tough games have proven he is not a game changer.
I beg to differ, some lakewood players have scored more about that many.
Jason Chiavarrini.. HH player very good skills fast, and has the courage to go against tall kids when his really short.
has anyone seen tyler dunmeyer from west florence play? he is the blonde kid that plays center mid
luke hogan of wando... he does no have stats of 30 goals but he is one of the most solid sophmores out there and no one can argue that
Jason is # 2 little short guy very fast and some really nice skills..
Let's not have the "big fish in a small pond syndrome". I thought I had some really good players until we played Eastside and Riverside. Then you see that every one of their players are as good or better than my best. These kids are just at a different level. It is unbelievable.
If you ever read the posts on the "Best Whatever" threads, it usually is the "Big Fish in Small Pond Syndrome". Not always, but many times it's about one standout player on a weak team playing weak opponents that would be average or above average on a good high school team.
Is Rudi that small kid with the afro and he played last year. Because if it is im gonna have to disagree with you beast. I have seen him played and have played against him. Hes not the best sophmore out there. Yes he is pretty good, but no where near the best.
i guess none of yall kno much about Sean Flynn
Sean Flynn from Spring Valley?
May I recommend some reading material?
Top underclassmen This link will take you to the original thread.... you will find lots of sophomores there.
what about Jugal from Irmo?...havent heard much of him..is he having a good season?

All coaches need to consider this point when submitting your entries for All-State and North-South.
Yea that is a great point but.....it does not mean that you can only be considered "one of the best" or All-State and North-South if you come from a team full of talent.
I played a bunch of small schools in my day and everyone once in a while you run into some talent that you think could have gotten them further if they were on a better team, because they would have received more respect that way.
Not every great play has the glory to be surrounded by more talent to support them....
Rudi definaetly doesnt has a afro and plays defense for fort he was the forward last year
Ok, prolly thinkin of some other kid. This one is way too small to be playin defense.
yea i know who your thinking of Rudi is one of the captains this year actually
Sean Flynn is in the paper just about every time SV plays.. so he has my vote
Reel Callison (lex)
Sean Flynn (SV)
Jugal Dalal (Irmo)
Some past and present “Big Fish from Small Ponds”
Robert Hunter - Waccamaw, then transferred to IMG (Furman)
Jamal Geathers - Lincoln, then transferred to Aiken (USC)
Michael Barnhill - Aynor (Coastal University)
Justin Blomdahl - Waccamaw
Preston Meyers - Lincoln
Eric Gladden - Dixie
I wouldn’t necessarily penalize nor belittle the accomplishments of a player who is a victim of his or hers geography. I have seen many players from our club travel great distances to play for other clubs and I have also seen players travel great distances to play for a team in our club. I have seen parents move their entire family and even break-up their family to have their child play for other schools. I have seen families pay extraordinarily large amounts of money to send their children away to schools that have better teams. I have seen families sneak players across school districts, and I have seen families sponsor other players, so they could play for their school. I can neither condone nor censure the decisions made on behalf of these players and I sincerely hope that these decisions are made in the best interest of the player. In any event, let the “Big Fish” have their day, let them enjoy the fruits of their labor, and let them enjoy the game. Besides, that is why we have different classes (4A, 3A, 2A, 1A, SCISA). If we didn’t, what chance would a player from Ware Shoals, Lewisville, Mullins, or Garrett Tech have of ever being noticed… “Keep Playing Hard Big Fish” and someone will take notice…
I do agree that there are often kids who are tremendous soccer players, who play for teams without a lot of talent. I often think about how little support they get from teammates who are not near their level. With that in mind, I think you have to take into consideration the individual player. However, from my experience, a lot of players look really good playing not so good teams. Then when they play the real competition, reality sets in.
Thats why college coaches scout mostly on the club level. You get a true sense of the true talent of a player watching them participate in Premier League or State Cup. However, I sense somewhat of a reverse bias here. A kid like Preston Myers may not have competed at the highest level in HS and some may question the validity of his accomplishemnts. However, anyone who has seen him play club knows he's the real deal,so don't penalize him because he plays for a small rural school without alot of soccer tradtion.
By the way I've also seen highly publicized large school players struggle when playing premier league. That why the Palmetto Classic is so popular with College coaches. The quality of the field gives a much better representation of a players talents than watching player X as his team overwhelms a lesser opponent.
I don't care what league you play in 30 goals and 17 assists is darn good. Justin has good size and skills. He scored around 25 goals last year as a Freshman.
yeah paul andrews is very good
i cant believe someone from dixie was listed. Dixie is the epitemy of country, redneckness, and horrible soccer.
Like I said, 30 goals and 17 assists is good, no matter what. BUT, you have to examine the level of competition and ability to produce in the matches that matter in order to really size up a players ability and impact. That is my argument.
