I know last year there was a thread for players who had committed to play in college. It would be good to see who all across the state is going to continue their soccer career and applaud them for their accomplishments. The game lives on.

Quite an accomplishment for Zurch! Going to ND is something in itself, but being a student athlete there is outstanding! Best of luck.
Posted By: CornerFlag Re: College Commitments - 05/15/07 06:31 PM
Not to be pessimistic here, but is he going to ND to play on their collegiate team? That's a big D1 program and I honestly have never heard of the kid before. Not that one has to be known by Cornerflag to go to a college but usually when a player goes on a team of that magnitude you at least hear his name here or there. What club team does he play for?
Posted By: DDrogba9 Re: College Commitments - 05/15/07 07:28 PM
Yeah ive never heard of him..never seen his name mentioned even on here...does he have a scholarship or going and trying to walk-on?
Posted By: Gerrard04 Re: College Commitments - 05/16/07 03:45 AM
PC has a very good class coming in. The addition of Logan and Redmond will tremendously help. Redmond is a talented goalkeeper, i mean he did only allow 4 goals all season. Also the addition of Davis Orders, the underrated crafty midfielder will do wonders in the future.
Posted By: adidasoccer7 Re: College Commitments - 05/16/07 12:49 PM
david allen is not going to PC
Posted By: kickinballs Re: College Commitments - 05/16/07 02:33 PM
I dont think Zurcher is playing soccer at Notre Dame. They have a top ten program and while he is a good player he is certainly not anywhere close to that level.
Posted By: Agoraphobia Re: College Commitments - 05/16/07 02:44 PM
Kyle Paradise is actually going to USC-Salkahatchie along with Paul Fisher. Paradise said he planned on playing at USC-Salk to take some pre-req classes, and then transfering to UCF.

ERRONEOUS ERRONEOUS ON TWO COUNTS david allen is going to Clemson and while its true that JMAC (Johnathan Zurcher) is going to ND he is not going to play soccer. check your sources. I have nothing against the disabled so no one get up in arms about calling him retarded.

David Allen was a standout center midfielder this year for Cardinal Newman, which finished as Runners-Up in Class 3A of SCISA. I believe he is planning on attending Clemson University and perhaps walking on with the Tigers.
Posted By: sideline24 Re: College Commitments - 05/16/07 07:32 PM
no offense kyle but that kid will never be able to walk on at clemson....trevor told blair he MIGHT have a shot at walking on at clemson so i seriously doubt he could even make their club team which i also heard is very hard to play for

Ummm. Yeah.

Making the team is one thing. Getting PT is another.

I'm not saying it's easy to make the team, but sideline definitely exaggerated.

Also, congrats to Zurcher regardless. That is going to be quite the experience in South Bend.

Is Blair going to try an walk on at Clemson or is he going to play somewhere?
Posted By: sideline24 Re: College Commitments - 05/17/07 01:44 AM
not sure about the whole blair situation but i believe he might try to walk on....and just to let you jack yea it is very hard to make their club team...I don't know how they do selection on the club team but two starters from the 2005-2006 eastside team both got cut and i think one of them if not both were all state

I'm not trying to argue, I just know some people that have made the squad that aren't any better than the names mentioned (this all being 2-3 years ago). Maybe they stepped it up this last year. I still know a guy on their team and he is certainly a quality player.

My point is - club soccer is still just club. I hate to break it to you, but most of that roster (not just at Clemson) is going to be filler for finances. There are definitely a lot of quality soccer players at CU - I'm not saying there aren't. But I just think it's misleading to pretend like the club squad is this inaccessible elite group.

None of these things I've "heard" - I know it all firsthand.
Posted By: oldskool Re: College Commitments - 05/17/07 02:54 AM
the club team is bad and so are MOST of the players on it
Blair stands a decent chance at getting on the clemson roster. His size and work ethic will help him alot. Agility could use a good amount of work but he has gotten alot better over the course of the season.
Posted By: muppet Re: College Commitments - 05/17/07 03:26 AM
Did they film the state games and if so is there any way you can get them?

This is something the SCHSL has performed in the past through contracts with film companies, but for some reason they weren't on hand this year at Stone Stadium.

I know Bem Rivers Productions was at the State Championship weekend and should anyone want to purchase a CD with pictures of the finals, then contact him at blpantherfan@aol.com.

I think blair is going to virginia tech from what i have heard. Maybe he changed his mind and is going to clemson but i think he's going to virginia tech.

Well i wanna know if Blair got a scholarship for anywhere he might actually go
Posted By: Greenville Red Raider 15 Re: College Commitments - 05/17/07 07:29 PM
he didn't hes goin to clemson for school
Posted By: cabj12 Re: College Commitments - 05/17/07 09:52 PM
I think Blair has a reasonable chance of making the team. I doubt Clemson is looking for some big bad guy in the back that just clears it out. They are gonna look for someone that is a great soccer player; and I know Blair has the potential to play great soccer other than boot ball. So if he stays in shape, keeps his skill level up, and gives it all he has, he will have a good shot. I don't know how the whole walk-on process is but I think it is just one day where people can go out and show them what they have; its not a three day tryout and whatnot. And I'm guessing the coaches just contact whoever they want after that one day. Like Jack R. said about club..."Making the team and getting PT are totally different." He won't get PT but who cares.
Posted By: Greenville Red Raider 15 Re: College Commitments - 05/17/07 10:07 PM
blair doesn't wanna play any soccer anymore...hes not tryin to walk on at all
