SCHSSCA Rankings -- Week 3 (March 10-16)

How can they rank Hilton Head number six in the state? They have not beaten anyone in the top fifteen.
Posted By: Anonymous Re: SCHSSCA Rankings -- Week 3 - 03/11/02 05:27 AM
yeah hilton head hasn't even played anyone with a winning record....but they are undefeated and that counts for something i guess. dutch fork can beat the number two team in the state and drop down to 15, but fort dorchester can beat the 5th ranked team and pop up to 13th from nowhere. things that make you go hmmmmmmm

I like the Greenville ranked #1 and Riverside #4 but where did teams like Daniel #2, Seneca, and Wade Hampton come from to get in the top 10? Greenville all the way to State baby! [Smile]

For real man. I agree with Greenville at #1 but other than that the only ones I can understand is Newberry making it in the top 10. Daniel and Seneca deserved to move up but not to 2 and 3. And if anyone needed to move out of the rankings it would have been B.C. not A.C. Flora. I think Riverside and Southside got screwed. Southside didn't even loose a game? I dunno and the Beachs got screwed to...MB and NMB should have switched not both moved down 2. And Wade Hampton..they have wins over chump teams and then a loss against the only ranked team they played? Sorry but I don't think these ranks will float with anyone but people from Greenville, Daniel, Seneca, Wade Hampton and Newberry. I think anybody that actually looks at the records for these teams will only agree with Greenville and Newberry.

L-E Dude, Dude B-C beat A.C. Flora, that's why they're ranked ahead of them. Get real dude.

aiken pounded dutch fork 6-1 (their only goal being a pk), then dutch fork goes and takes sumter to a shoot out and BEATS them. aiken wins two matches and drops from 8th to 9th, can someone tell me how yall figured those rankings? did yall flip coins or something? hilton head #6? they have not played anybody. these rankings are a joke. these rankings are about as **** poor as BCS. how did wando only drop two spots after losing to an unranked team?

I know BC beat Flora. Would I be right if I said you agree with these rankings?

Newberry will get knoced out of there as soon as region play starts up.

Hey eblade, dont worry about it. I agree with you when you say things like how did wando only move down 2 spots after losing to an unranked team. They should of moved down at least 4. And also with hilton head being so high in the rankings. I agree with you there too. They havent played any ranked teams but they ARE undefeated. But just wait, in the 2nd half of their season they play summerville, and if they cant beat summerville then their ranking is just based on them playing not so good teams, and when playoofs come, they wont it very far.

y is PG ranked number one and they are 0-4 and yet that pinewood team and Ben Lippen have better records.

Porter-Gaud is ranked #1 because they take on quality competition all year, and like Cardinal Newman are always rewarded for it in May by playing for (and usually capturing) a State Championship. Their schedule has been hard! Should they only rank teams on their won-loss record or by who they have played? A question for the ages, I guess.

Personally I don't care about the rankings except when they serve an injustice to deserving teams!

Newberry is a good team. And this is by far our best chance to win the region. As long as week keep our mind and focus right

who is ranked number 2 for 4A
Posted By: Anonymous Re: SCHSSCA Rankings -- Week 3 - 03/11/02 12:57 AM
Correct me if I'm wrong, but soccerinfo.com says James Island is ranked 2nd right now for 4A. I think that's the updated ranking.

that's ****...first of all, a team shouldn't be number one if they're 0-4, no matter who they played. Second, if the quality of opponents is that important...why isn't Dreher in the top 10, or AC flora for that matter? Dreher is 3-4, but we've lost to Ridgeview, Dutch Fork, Bishop England, and Chapin...all quality opponents.
Posted By: Jack Rozier Re: SCHSSCA Rankings -- Week 3 - 03/11/02 02:46 AM
I agree that these ranks are ****. Yeah you lost to good teams but none of them were close matchs Dutch Fork was probably your closest match and that was weeks ago. Sure you lost to Chapin 2-0 but you guys only had 5 shots on goal compared to Chapins 25...tell me that doesn't effect the ranking. I don't understand A.C. Flora though b/c they lost to quality teams in close matches and have quality wins. These ranks are messed up anyways so just wait a week..and we'll see how the upcoming matches turn out.

I have decided that this message board is for a bunch of 3A people that want to whine about everything....from the rankings.....to playing a little rough. Change your subjects....it's boring here!!!!!!!

I've been following HS soccer since my son played 4-5 years ago. There is always going to be a team that feels like it should be ranked, but quite honestly these rankings are pretty much on the money. Dreher is a decent team, but they have no wins over any quality opponents. Newberry is suspect, because York is not very good and that result was 2-1. A.C. Flora is ok and should challenge for the Lower State, but they'll have to get past Myrtle Beach, North Myrtle Beach, and B-C for that title. I don't know much about the upper state teams, but I take it that is where the strength lies this season.
