I say Socastee vs. Chapin for lower state
And Socastee vs. Eastside for it all
It will stay in the upstate. My money is on Eastside, but don't count out JL Mann or Riverside.

was not at the game but read in the paper that socastee beat myrtle beach 4-1; sounds like socastee turned it on in the second half as they were trailing 1-0 at half. they won the region, with MB second, NMB 3rd and Carolina Forest 4th for the boys...
Socastee actually were leading 2-1 at half. But your right they did turn it own in the 2nd half. Esp. Orlando Clarke, what a player. He is the most talented player on the team, and that says alot, based on the number of top players on the team.
I'll take Socastee for Lower.
Still not sure on Upper yet. Must meditate....
after having played against both of these teams i think that eastside is the better one they are much more dangerous in the air and attacking
we scrimmaged chapin early in the year and they looked sloppy and their forwards did not seem dangerous even though they are talented
i personally played with chapins sr class when they were soph. and i was a sr. and they were sick then. Much of them have developed into much better players than they were 2 yrs ago. For instance Tyler Williams i would bet is one of if not the best defender in 3a. Greg DeMare has improved unspeakably since i played with him. Chapin's mid and strikers are where they will dominate teams, they have an unbelievable team chemistry. If Slaughter and Joey D. play as strikers and Haze W. in the center of the pitch i dont see much of a chance stopping that attack. It should be a great play-off yr in 3a as the competition is always stiff. I look forward to watching these games this yr.

Its pretty obvious that "step ur game up" is some senior player from Chapin trying to bring their team up
The Socastee vs. Chapin match in the 3rd round will be the game to watch. The only bummer is that the game will be held in Chapin. Socastee will have to win big games on the road in order to get to the championship game. I hate to say it, but beating Myrtle Beach and winning the region may have actually hurt Socastee.
In any event, I have watched both Chapin and Socastee and here are my opinions;
Forwards (Advantage Socastee)
The Orlando Clark and Justin Watson duo is dynamic and difficult for any defense.
Midfield (Advantage Socastee)
Two Words – Bobby Belair
Defense (Advantage Chapin)
Chapin’s defense is solid and almost mistake free. In addition, they move their backs into the midfield very effectively and are definitely contributors to their attack.
Goalkeepers (Draw)
The keepers for each team are talented.
Coaches (Draw)
Coach Suarez and Coach Hiller are both very good coaches and they have both prepared their teams well.
Intangibles (Chapin)
Because Chapin is loaded with seniors, you have to give the nod to Chapin simply because seniors don’t like losing in their final year. Also, I think that Chapin is a more physical team versus Socastee’s speed and skill. However, if they draw a whistle happy referee, Chapin’s physical play could be nullified.
In the end, each team needs to play the previous games to get to that point. But, should they meet, it will be a great game to watch…..

I agree, Chapin is very solid this year and play very well as a team. They have a great chance as long as they dont trip themselves up along the way. Should be interesting!
I don’t see many cross over games (between different regions), so it is hard to do an analysis. If Chapin and Soccastee play each other in the 3rd round, this should answer a bunch of question.
It appears that Region 4-3A teams have played some of the tougher AAAA schools, and played them well. So I have to give the advantage to Chapin (and BC over Myrtle Beach)
I just don’t see Chapin beating BC 3 times this year, so I give the lower state to BC.
Eastside is tough. I watched them play a couple games in the Palmetto Cup. But if BC stays healthy and with a little luck, I can see BC taking home the gold.

I definitely agree with that. Chapin is simply better than BC in nearly all aspects. I'm not bashing BC, it's just that Chapin is a good team from top-to-bottom. As mentioned, the Chapin/Socastee match should determine the eventual Lowerstate champion.
I think that Socastee has the advantage up top with all of their speed; however, they do not seem to be solid defensively, and I'm not sold on their tactical awareness/ability.
So a simple breakdown:
Forwards: Socastee
Midfield: Chapin
Backs: Chapin
GK: Chapin
It will be a great game, with Socastee's game-changing abilities up top, it should be close, but the better team (Chapin) should prevail. They are senior-laden, play a great style of soccer, and just a better team overall.

BC be capable of beating any 3A team on any given day.
They be back at 100%, which Achmed not see since Pre-P-Cup.
I would venture to say that on any given day the top 5 or 6 teams could win. The key is to not let the other team nor refs get in your head when you hit some adversity. This should be one of the best 3A playoffs in a long time with no real clear cut favorite and the lower state having several teams that are capable of finally bringing the title south.

you can write AHS if you want, but they played extremely well the past few games. They have been able to hang with some of the best teams in the state. They should be proud of the way they played lastnight. No one on this board gave them any less than a 5 goal blowout. Give credit where credit is due.
That being said, after watching a very fast and strong Socastee team, I still have to give the edge to Chapin in Round 3. Good luck to everyone left in the tournament.
