Daniel 9
Chapman 0
But Chapman is better than that score indicates. Talking to their coach, it seems they are mostly sophomores and freshman, and the strength and speed issues played against them after the first 15 minutes. #3 and #14 were especially good, and number 10 and the central defender in the back.
If they keep working, and if they can get a few more girls playing club, they'll be ready to surprise some people in a couple of years.

Heard the same thing.
1-1 after regulation Walhalla vs. Andrew Jackson
Final after 2 10's
Walhalla 2
Andrew Jackson 1
Andrew Jackson is a quality side that was over looked in the rankings despite having an 11 win regular season. They attacked aggressively and played great defense. Their keeper was outstanding. Walhalla has played close games with some really good teams this season and Andrew Jackson is just as good as any of them and deserve more respect in future seeding.
That is correct. Confirmed from a spectator. Spartanburg 2-0 Wren

Any score from the Stratford/Sumter or James Island/Carolina Forest games??
DF has gambled all season by pressing up 2 outside defenders almost as mids. the best way to beat it was to hit the seam with a punt or a driven ball to keep them honest and stop the press attack they have used most of the season. Katie bar the door to hold back the waves as the mids liked to set up at about the 25 and in to the box. Summerville must have kept them honest, and dropped them with PK's. This game plan can work as most coaches employ a low scoring match, it can also leave you out in the cold.
Anyone know the score of Ridge View vs Nation Ford?
Ridge View 3
Nation Ford 2

DF lost on PK's and didn't give up a goal. I heard that DF had the bulk of the chances and hit the woodwork a few times. If DF didn't give up a goal, how can you give them crap about pushing their outside backs forward? It didn't cost them defensively and apparently they had the better of the offensive play?
Does anyone know the score of the Broome vs Greenville Tech game

Booyah!
My point exactly, they used a press attack all season and if they don't capitalize by doing so they have to worry about the lack of speed of thier defenders. That makes them stay honest, and not allow them to press the outside defenders. Summerville didn't give up a goal either, they also had to traveled to a hostile stadium. Was DF ready to play or did they start to believe thier own hype who knows. Yes sometimes its better to be lucky than good, and DF has had a fair share of luck this past season, as some have had only bad luck, but luck can always run out when you need it the most. This time of the year you have to be ready to dance with the song being played. If you only know a few tunes you may not dance for long

Mauldin 9

The Mauldin starting team played some excellent, forceful soccer to overwhelm Westside in the first ten minutes, scoring four goals. Excluding a short period at the start of the second half, players off the bench then demonstrated the depth of the Mauldin team.

Great job by the Lexington girls. At the start of the season, not many people thought Coach Fryland's team would get this far. Now the Lady Wildcats are one win away from another appearance in the Great 8.
Well done.
The Broome/Greenville Tech game was won by Broome 1-0. Broome had the majority of the shots on goal but was denied by poor shooting and the defense of Tech. The loan goal came on a deflection from a free kick. First home playoff victory for the Lady Centurions and only the second playoff victory in school history.

Anyone have a Gilbert/Strom Thurmond score?
When will the scorebaord be updated?
I may be blind and/or ignorant, probably both, but have scores for the Brookland Cayce/Battery Creek, Myrtle Beach/Marlboro COunty, North Myrtle Beach/Lakewood, Eastside/Chester, Mann/Lugoff-Elgin, and Woodmont/Greer scores been posted? I am assuming the original state AAA brackets are correct. Thanks!
The Brookland-Cayce girls will play at Myrtle Beach (Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium) Wednesday, May 13 at 6:00 pm. The Lady Bearcats defeated Battery Creek 6-0 in the First Round at The Cage.
When will the scorebaord be updated?
I hope to get to update some scores on my lunch break today.

The Lady Eagles scored a pair of early goals that put WH on their heels and they were never able to recover. The ball rarely crossed to the Chapin half and WH was unable to tally a single shot on goal. Mid way through the second half the "wheels just fell off" for WH but they continued to play hard for the full match.
JL Mann vs Lugoff-Elgin is being played tonight. LE couldn't get a bus yesterday. That's the news I heard anyway.
This comes from the Eastside High School website regarding the Girls game.

I wonder if the football team got their buses on time for their playoff games? Hmmmmmm? Title IX infraction?
Is anybody else looking just a bit ahead to that possible Hilton Head/South Aiken matchup in the quarterfinals?
That just looks yummy.
Class 2A Playoffs
Loris 3 v Aynor 0 @ Aynor
This was the 4th meeting of the teams this season, third in just over a week. 2 of the meetings went to PK's
It was a hard fought game but Loris was able to take advantage of scoring opportunities and shut Aynor out and advance the FIRST time in school/program history to the second round where they meet Waccamaw.

They are very, very good. Have battled different injuries all season long, but are now finally healthy. They returned basically everyone from last year's state championship team.
The front end is explosive with Abby Fennessey, Stephanie Sosa and Sara Maneosotis. Emily Natoli is extremenly hard nosed. She is the kind of player every coach in every sport wants on their team. The back 4 are as good as any in the state. The sweeper, Jean Weisner, is very big and strong. Not a burner my any means, but very good.
Their keeper is tiny but extremely athletic and has great instincts. She is as good as I have seen this year and Larry is a great keeper coach.
Well, there goes my sleep for the week...
I'm pretty sure Sosa left team earlier this season.
