Fort Mill's Smurfs couldn't quite hang on:

Taylor Parker put FM on the board first at 33:00 on a feed from Jessica Tooley. It held up until 66:00 when Sarah Schaidle broke through the middle to tie it. In OT, FM was whistled for a foul 25 yards out. Allison Nelson put the ball over Alexis McLaine's head. 4 minutes later, FM was whistled for a handball in the box and Nelson converted the PK.

Considering FM started the year #12, and weren't even the favorite to win their own region, the girls did pretty good finishing up at #3 as Upper State Finalists. They'll take it and come back next year.

Waccamaw vs. Bishop England postponed. Will play Tuesday at 6:00 PM in Pawleys Island.

This game has the potential to be fantastic. These teams have developed quite a rivalry. Also, it will be a contrast in style - Waccamaw's speed and athleticism against the system and depth of BE. Can BE take advantage of the smaller field at Waccamaw and use it to contain Waccamaw's speed? If this game was at BE, then it would be much harder to contain them. Does Waccamaw have the depth to withstand BE's deep bench? Both teams are very talented and should prove to be an exciting match. Best of luck to both teams.
