And what a showing by the student body of T.L. Hanna High School. They've made the trip to Columbia en masse and the energy in the west stands is absolutely radiant! Great cheers, great support, and they've made the atmosphere just incredible. Best I've ever seen for a Girls' State Championship match, and I've been watching for over 20 years now...

Well done to the HHI girls for keeping it real in the lower state.
TL Hanna's 2nd goal was by Christina Barington.
I just got home and couldn't wait to see if anyone would say anything about the Hanna crowd. We have been hungry for a championship for a while now and today has been incredible. The girls got a big send-off at school when they left for the game. Also, the football coaches chaperoned a bus load of students to the game and the energy was amazing! This win mattered to the yellow jacket faithful!

While I very much enjoyed the atmosphere, as did almost everyone (perhaps except the Lower State fans), the fact that many of the fans rushed the pitch despite numerous public requests not to was disappointing. And dangerous. And likely costly to the school ($1500 fine, I believe), as it is against SCHSL rules.

I understand the excitement of a State Championship final, and bringing the trophy home. But all it takes is one person crushed or trampled to completely ruin an event, and the lives of the family of a victim. Google 'Hillsborough' and 'Liverpool' to learn about an extreme case of this type of action. Not to mention the setting off of flares in a crowd.

Congratulations, T.L. Hanna for your trophy and the fan support shown in this event.
I enjoy all the games. They were all close games. Congrats to all the Upper-State,all of you represent us well.congrats to CC,EASTSIDE, and TL HANNA.Great job by all the KEEPERS.
I went to the girls games last night and enjoyed the two games. However, why is it still staged at Memorial Stadium? The place looks like a prison! Right up the street is USC's Stone Stadium and quite a facility for the players and fans to enjoy.
Second Half action from the Boys Class A Championship at Memorial Stadium, and it is all St. Joseph's. We've played an hour and it's GSSM 0, St. Joseph's 6.

Follow @SCSoccer.com on Twitter for Kyle's updates...it is a busy press box this year with the SCHSL.TV crew providing live streams. So updates will not be as regularly posted here as in the past. The live stream is found linked off of the High School League web page and at http://www.schsl.tv
Hey Swame, how does that State Championship taste?

I'll bet it's sweeter than any Club State Championship.

I thoroughly enjoyed the Hanna fans Friday night. They were lively and very creative. I would say they were the the most spirited group at a Girl's Championship since the "Mauldin Choir Boys" of a few years back.
The Hanna fans were awesome!! I was on the Wando side and was amazed at the contrast between the two sides. True passion and energy from the Hanna fans that I am certain help fuel their side. Great display of soccer from both sides.
wando fans have perfected the golf clap so give them time.
