Last Wednesday was the first day of the national signing period. Who is going where? Any of the better players commit yet?

There's a thread under the College, Pro and International area "Re: National Signing Day" that has this information as posted to date.

Thanks. I missed that.

I read that Newberry signed four girls from in state. Alie Brady from Summerville, Elyse Clark from James Island, Lacey Moskos from James Island and Katelyn Lubey from Bishop England.

Can anybody comment on any of these girls? I hope to see them play in the Viking Cup.

Isn't Tega Cay a small private neighborhood up in Fort Mill? Dated a psycho from that area, but I hear most residents are pleasant.

Now let's be nice R, that was years ago. Haven't we both gotten past that by now?
Posted By: Coach Young Re: Senior Signings - 02/09/05 07:34 PM
I'm not sure what you've gotten past, but I elect not to dwell in the past, only remember it. That crazy girl took three months of my life I want back. So why so much interest in Newberry (your profile & comments)? You're not a fellow alumni are you?

A recent study in Science magazine established that for a man of approximately your age avoiding red meat and excess alcohol will add not 3 but 8.5 months to your life, in essence more than reimbursing you for the above mentioned time lost. Unfortunately, the added months will come when you are 89 years old...

Both the James Island girls are very savy seasoned players with solid technical skills. Elyse Clark plays forward and is a threat to score anytime she is in vicinity of the goal. Very quick feet and a striker's soul. Lacey Moskos is a short muscular defender with a tremendous throw in. She plays at 110% and I have never seen her slack off that pace in a game. Good but not great speed and a physical presence on the field that is much bigger than she is. Two very good players that should raise the quality of soccer at any small school.

Thanks lpaf.

I know JI is loaded this year and I look forward to seeing them play in the Viking Cup. Where are these two players at in the JI pecking order?
Posted By: Coach Young Re: Senior Signings - 02/10/05 12:44 AM
It says on this year's program 14th and 26th respectively. Correct me if I'm wrong Lapf.

When I think about all the great nights I can't remember from the pursuit of alcohol I shutter to think about what I might miss if I abandon my old friend. Red meat, huh? I'll make the switch from "rare" to "medium well" and bask in the gift of life.

I liked the pecking order question. All the dangers of asking a slightly overweight woman if she is pregnant. What I would say about the JI players is that after having watched women's HS soccer in SC at a pretty high level for the last 4 years both Lacey Moskos and Elyse Clark are good enough to start on any team in the state and make a difference. If I were drafting players for a statewide allstar team and could take only one JI player it would be defender Chelsea Terry.

Thanks lpaf.

I was struggling with how to phrase that one. My other option was a little more forthcoming: Are they both in the top half of JI's starting 11?

I don't need any further clarification. From your response I can see that they are both solid players and I look forward to seeing them next weekend.

I heard that the instate college FMU has gone
D-1 starting next season in soccer. Does anyone know the truth to that??
Posted By: Hurst66 Re: Senior Signings - 02/11/05 08:09 PM
I heard about that as well, but I don't know the specifics.

I know we may not be one of the "big three" in Region 7-AAAA, but Stratford had one young lady sign last week, Emily Haller signed to go to the Citadel.
Our girls program is under ten years old and is working hard to catch up with the competition.
We have been blessed to have a a few girls sign and have done Stratford proud
