Congratulations Lady Bearcats on a great WIN! Hats Off to Fort Mill for playing a great game. You showed alot of class. Good luck for the remainder of the season.
Posted By: anonymousjoe Re: FM & B-C - 03/25/06 06:42 PM
It is kind of depressing that Fort Mill has lost two games, both being in a shoot out. They have only given up one goal the entire year, which was on a PK against mauldin, which only tied the game 1-1. Keep it up Fort Mill, luck just hasn't been on your side, but it will come. On behalf of BC though, they were awsome. I am going out on a limb here and saying that AAA teams are loaded this year. Riverside, BC, JL Mann, and many of the other teams in 3AAA could beat almost any team ranked in the Top 15 of 4AAAA, all very good schools. And the game last night was a great one. Could have gone either way. I thought Fort Mill had an outstanding defense, but BC showed that they are pretty tough as well. #21 saved BC many times from a break away opportunity.

If Fort Mill hasn't let in a goal all year, save the pk, I think luck has more than been on their side! I've enjoyed watching Fort Mill climb the ranks the past five years and I think they're showing others success can come quickly.
Posted By: Will Eudy Re: FM & B-C - 03/25/06 09:35 PM
BC did hit the post twice and had a goal called back so I would say luck might be w/ the jackets. However they are a VERY good team.

My bet to win AAAA
Posted By: FMFAN Re: FM & B-C - 03/25/06 11:04 PM
Fort Mill hasn't let in a goal this year because their defense is awsome. The defenders can't save the pk's Aiken - that's up to the goalie!
Posted By: anonymousjoe Re: FM & B-C - 03/26/06 03:13 AM
Well the goal was called back not on luck, the ref was pointing that it was fort mill's ball, and fort mill was waiting on the throw in, and BC was the only team playing. And when it comes to lucky, they haven't been. But talent they do have. And yes everybody has had some luck at one point in their lives, but i know alot of them were down after last nights game, and that was my attempt to help thier motivation, thats all. But no i'm not taking anything away from BC they won that game, and they are a great team. But speaking of course, from a biased FM fan stand point, i would say fort mill clearly controlled the second half of that game, and who would think that our two top offensive players and leading goal scorers would miss their PK's in the shoot out, thats unlucky, and bless their hearts, they are both amazing players and i would never want to be put in that situation, but yes that is the definition of an unlucky situation.
Posted By: Coach Young Re: FM & B-C - 03/26/06 05:10 AM
Brookland-Cayce was better at their pk's than Fort Mill. That's not luck, that's training. For you to claim FM was unlucky would be to say that BC was lucky. Such an example of deductive reasoning would completely discredit the lady bearcats' hard work. That night, BC was the better team. Period. That night.

FMFan, how did they other team get the pk? Did the goalie touch the ball outside the box, chop a player down or was one of the defenders a bit hack happy and commit a foul? Perhaps a defender used their hand to touch the ball? Who was responsible for the foul, Defender or goalie?

That said, for I do cheer for the blue and yellow in my spare time, I think FM would beat BC 2 out of 3 times if such a match up were to occur. Based on scores and the one match a piece I have seen, the lady jackets seem to have the upper hand and be the top team in the state in AAAA. I would LOVE to see them play Riverside to determine the top team in all classes, but the football gods don't seem to have that in store this year.
Posted By: anonymousjoe Re: FM & B-C - 03/26/06 08:04 AM
I actually believe it was a midfielder that commited a "high kick" outside of the box, about 30ft. from the goal. An extremely questionable call at that. And like I said earlier, it was only for motivation that I said the whole thing about luck. And honestly I think Riverside and BC may be the best two teams in the state, so no, i'm not calling them lucky by any means.
Posted By: Coach Young Re: FM & B-C - 03/26/06 03:00 PM
A pk from a high kick outside the box? Anybody else have some insight on this one?

Fort Mill will go undefeated the rest of the regular season and probably never see another goal touch the back of the nets until playoff time.
Posted By: anonymousjoe Re: FM & B-C - 03/26/06 06:21 PM
Well maybe you could specify, I don't know if that is the correct terminology for it. Possibly a free kick, i don't know.
Posted By: anonymousjoe Re: FM & B-C - 03/26/06 06:23 PM
Hopefully that will be the case that they will go undefeated, but they are playing Providence and Myers Park, two of the top teams from NC. So those should be tough matches.
Posted By: FMFAN Re: FM & B-C - 03/26/06 08:27 PM
Aiken - what pk are you talking about? Can't give you any info from BC game because I was in Vegas.
Posted By: Coach Young Re: FM & B-C - 03/27/06 03:35 AM
The lone goal scored this season on the defense. Its really irrelevant now. Did you take their money?
Posted By: anonymousjoe Re: FM & B-C - 03/27/06 03:45 AM
Well you asked for detail about the goal, so, detail was given.
Posted By: Coach Young Re: FM & B-C - 03/27/06 11:47 AM
FMFan asked the question joe, not you. I was answering him. If you go back and reread your post, you're not exactly bubbling with confidence in your answer.

William Aiken:

WA - If the goalkeeper handles the ball outside of the penalty box, it would be a direct free kick from the spot of the infraction outside the box. It would NOT be a penalty kick. [Smile]
Posted By: Anonymous Re: FM & B-C - 03/27/06 01:49 PM
WA--
To try to put this to bed, the only goal scored on FM thus far in field play was by Mauldin in the Viking Cup. An FM midfielder was called for a high kick about 30 yards out. The direct kick play resulted in a scrum in front of the keeper and the defense could not clear the ball. Not a PK.

McCoy, thank you.

P-Diddy, curse my ignorance. Well done, Coach.

No Aiken I donated to Vegas like always. I did win a t-shirt but lets not start that thread again!

And yes the goal was the result of a high kick called on one of our midfielders (she is all of 4'10) Just one of those calls you have to wonder about
Posted By: anonymousjoe Re: FM & B-C - 03/27/06 11:33 PM
Thank you, I didn't want to point out the whole 4'10" thing, but yes it was extremely quesitonable.

Conspiracy against short people...been going on in the schsl for years.

Seriously, I believe thats what it is.

B-C played great Friday night, I'm sure the folks from Chapin would not have recognized them. I will pay to watch the Riverside/B-C match in the state playoffs this May. As was mentioned earlier on this thread, those two teams can play with anybody in 4A. And props to JL Mann and Eastside as well, two more very good 3A programs.

Hurst66 - feeling better?? Germs hit old people hard! Missed ya
Posted By: Hurst66 Re: FM & B-C - 03/28/06 03:17 PM
Back on my feet...thanks.

One other note, Fort Mill hasn't taken a PK during a match in over two years. They have lost twice this season when matters had to be settled after the two OT's. PK practice is in order before this team gets to the state playoffs.
Posted By: anonymousjoe Re: FM & B-C - 03/29/06 05:52 AM
Could you clarify "taken" a PK during a match in over two years. Like overtime PK's
Posted By: Hurst66 Re: FM & B-C - 03/28/06 06:02 PM
Not counting OT PK's. I'm talking about when a player gets fouled in the box. To the best of my recollection, FM hasn't taken one of these in over two years.

BTW joe, we need a certain outside defender to step up and start taking these kicks. ;>)

Lil sis' gets nervous about those kind of things
Posted By: anonymousjoe Re: FM & B-C - 03/28/06 06:06 PM
I told her she should play offense too, but she has a one track mind. Not allowing any goals, haha.
Posted By: FM06 Re: FM & B-C - 03/28/06 06:46 PM
Speaking of "D"...it was a scare last night when NW kicked it out of the keepers hands after a save and the backup made another save! Thought that if the ball was in the keepers possession they can't mess with it??
Posted By: anonymousjoe Re: FM & B-C - 03/28/06 07:09 PM
I wasn't there, you know, those late nights of studying. Probably depends on if the goalie "bobbled" it or not. I think you have to have clear possesion of it, but the goalie may have had possession.
